[NSW] PlayStation VR with Camera and Game Bundle $199 @ Target Bondi Junction

1010

First post, be gentle. Most likely a price error but I just picked up the PSVR bundle from Target Bondi Junction for $199. Seemed to scan just the headset and discounted the camera and PS worlds game. Not sure of stock levels, they didn't have any on display.

Bundle came with headset, camera and VR worlds.

EDIT: Scan code matched the code on the original $229 bundle poster. Code on the box is CUH-ZVR1 so it's a V1 headset.

  • Good price. Bought PS4 pro yesterday and wonder whether I should buy VR? Any suggestions?

    • It’s not something I tend to use a lot, but when I do use it I’m very glad I do! It’s comfortbale and there are quite a few awesome games, my fav is Arizona sunshine, as long as you have the aim controller

I bought a V1 on discount at Amazon and it was all I played for 2 months, just sold it for what I paid yesterday and bought a V2.
Brought a new life to the PS4 for me, before that it was collecting dust while I worked on my PS3 backlog.
If recommended buying and worst case selling it in a mi th and breaking even.

      • I bought the same deal off Amazon, it's great. Any reason why you swapped to V2? HDR?

    • It's a different experience and definitely worth it. Especially for that price.

  • +1

If you're going to use it then this is a steal. I'm still yet to find anything compelling though - that, and I feel PSVR (and VR in general) becomes a bit antisocial in my household.

    • +5

      Astro Bot. Thank me later.

      • +4

Sounds alright, but to be honest I'm still holding out for a solid arcade rail shooter. I'm so sad these went out of fashion :(

        • +3

i will go all out and say that Astro Bot is the best platformer in the history of platformers not just in VR. This includes Mario.

          • @Penpinch: I don't even play platformers and I love it. Played a couple hours yesterday, just wish there was more challenge to it and more incentive not to die.

          • @Penpinch: Massive call! I’m gonna check it out, in a bit of a platformer mood after 100%ing the Spyro trilogy..

        • After owning a PSVR for around 4 months and still loving it, I have never realised how much I want a VR Time Crisis until reading your comment.

    • I've heard good things about Tetris Effect (not sure if out yet).

  • +1

What's the model.number on the box please?

    • CUH-ZVR1 so it's the V1. The scan code matched the code on the bundle poster so the orignal $229 bundle was for the V1 as well I think.

  • +3

V1 or V2? Very good price for V2.

    • +2

Sounds like the camera and VR Worlds was seperate to the headset, therefore possibly V1?

V2 was ~$201 after 12.5% Cash rewards at Amazon briefly yesterday, even less if you were lucky to have a targeted Amex.

      • +1

Even less with the 20% off from ShopBack yesterday ;-)

I’m more intrigued by the unicorn purchased for $34

      • TheDukeOfNukem why did you delete your zinger of a joke?

        • What was the joke?

@Rimzi: Two guys walk into a bar. The bartender walks over. Another guy walks out of the bar. People are just walking around.

  • Lol

It was the same price yesterday at target rhodes for the v2

  • is there an identifier on the box to say if its v1 or v2 ?

    • +1

There is and identifier in small code on the back of the box above the HDMI logo. It says "CUH-ZVR2 Made in china" Easy enough to find. Just make sure the code ends in 2. CUH-ZVR2 Not CUH-ZVR1 There are 3 bundles apparently one is V1 camera V1 headset. One is V1 headset V2 Camera. The best is V2 camera and most importantly V2 headset. I have the V2 V2 latest bundle CUH-ZVR2 code on the box.
If you get this i would recommend the aim controller. Works great in farpoint and firewall zero hour. Fire wall zero hour is on sale until monday on the ps store 25 bucks. Farpoint 15 bucks on sale. The aim controller comes bundled with different games. Personally i would recommend paying more to download firewall zero hour and get the farpoint bundle aim controller as no disks make it an easy setup for firewall and i think i will use it more.

      • so i would be looking at roughly $200-$250 (depending on sale) for the ps4 vr + camera + game kit and then another $99 for the aim controller + game

can i get just the aim controller by itself, as like you said, i can get those two games for $25, which would make the aim controller around $70? i cant seem to find it individually for sale, only bundled…

        • +1

i think it is the same price individually as with the free game. Technically for best value aim controller and bravo team is best bang for buck because bravo team is the most expensive download at the moment on ps store $54.95. but i hear bravo team is pretty ordinary due to the mechanics so i went with farpoint. Not sure you can trade in those games that are bundled because they say not for individual sale. I read once that selling stuff that say not for individual sale is not illegal in any way so it is up to the store manager i guess. Technically farpoint tracks the best for me. I guess as it was specifically made for the aim it also looks better imo. But Firewall is the one that is the most repayable. Its just like a real FPS you would play again and again. Have not used the co-op Farpoint yet but i think most would be moat happy with Firewall long term. I was up to 2.30 am playing Firewall. But i have only had the aim for a week so this is all first impressions. Have not played Bravo Team. I suspect bravo team and Farpoint are games you can borrow etc. They have co op. But Firewall is the must own game imo.

  • Has anyone tried to see if they can get it for this price at other stores?
    $200 is a steal for V2.

    • +2

OP updated their post - said it's V1

  • +1

That unicorn, remind me of the wticher gerald and yennever

  • +2

For those interested, can hook it up to pc and use it for VR there too. Already a steal and fraction of the price compared to a vive etc. Lookup TrinusPSVR

Also output from PC looks heaps better than from Ps4 Pro (I've personally done all this)

    Worth having for this price

    • Whats the best way to do this? From what I've read, it seems very hard, hit or miss and requires a little extra spending?

Edit: Have a gtx 970, would this be good enough?

      • I tried it quite a while ago using Trinus with a 1070, performance of the game was fine but the tracking was super unreliable. I kept finding it wouldn't level properly and would occasionally just stop altogether and just drift in one direction (I assume the last direction it was moving). That was quite a while ago so I assume it's much better now.

  • dont you also need those two hand stick things to use these vr goggles?

    • +1

Ha! Yes - the move controllers - you need two for some games. If you have the older ps3 versions lying around they are fine - basically identical bar the size of the USB input at the bottom for charging cable.

      • cool thanks. is there one giant bundle that has everything: v2 goggles, v2 camera, hand stick things and the gun thing. or do i just mix and match until i get the full set.

        • +1

I haven't seen one before. You can get a move controller 2-pack. Aim controller usually bundled with a game.

    • +1

Short answer no, you don't, long answer is depends on what you're playing.

Some games do require it, some are 'better' with them and some don't use them at all, eg Hatsune Miku games do require, Resident Evil 7 you definitely don't, the VR Worlds games (like the car shooting game) is definitely better with.

  • WA has 1 of these left at Stirling Central. You need to scan the 3 parts in manually. I just picked up the second last one in stock.

Someone please update when they get the last one.
