    These have been on sale a bit lately, wonder if they are clearing them out at HT and Dell.
    420 at Hawthorn is a lot of stock.

      I think if you look at their web site it is their best selling LCD monitor so I don’t think they are trying to clear them just that they buy so many from Dell they get a really hot price. Also with the Dell monitors you can tell what year the model is by the last 2 numbers so a U2311 is a 2011 model and Dell normally only change their ultrasharp models every 2 - 3 years so the next one probably won’t be out until 2013 - 14 so i dont think you will see the price much lower than this.

        I was talking to a rep about this about 2 weeks a go, he said that new stock was apparently on the way, though most of the time said reps dont know what they are talking about :P I was hoping a new U23 was coming out with the same ports at the U24 and U27 mainly the component and composite.

    I'm in the market for a 24" monitor. This being IPS, is this better than LED backlit?

      Different thing. Led backlit is compared to CCFL backlight. TN is compared to IPS.

      Not sure if led backlit is actually better than CCFL, due to poor implementations causing uneven led backlighting. Perhaps someone can inform me a little better..

        I guess that's what I'm asking - the difference in quality between a CCFL backlit IPS panel (which this is) versus a LED backlit TN panel (which many vendors are already selling).

          IPS will absolutely dominate TN in terms of viewing angles and colour consistency.

    Cheapest Dell price mentioned here sems to be $220 (fat chance getting that) otherwise I think it was $233.

    Dell direct.

    Toying with 3 of them. Another $15 off each would help lol. Then I'd feel like it was an un-passable bargain, even if its still going to cost a fortune.

      Im in the same boat as you, would love to get them at 220 each, the prices might drop again soon, the U2711 dropped recently as well.

          Yeah but I'm trying to check out and it says it wants to charge $122 for delivery after clicking the "pick up - osborne park" button??

          Although the rep says I can walk in store for it I guess.
