[EXPIRED] Far Cry 2 PS3 Wooden Box Set (Ltd Ed Collectors game+art+DVD+shirt+map) $20 +p&h

25

On sale for 3 days only, Farcry 2, a really good game in it's own right, overshadowed (as everything was) by COD Black Ops in the last little while. Anyway, the good news is that means now it's just $19.99 + courier (Or Express) delivery, which is quite variable, depending on where you live. Courier delivery can be as low as under $9, or up to about $25 (I think) if you live in the middle of nowhere! Insurance is optional at $2.90 but recommended for such a easy-to-break custom wooden box.

PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT THE PLATINUM VERSION, it is the ORIGINAL SEXY ONE,
in the custom WOODEN COLLECTORS BOX (with all of the accessories)

Do check out ALL of the pics, because otherwise you won't see all the cool stuff included in the custom wooden box set. It's new, sealed, guaranteed authentic Aussie stock, and ships daily.

What you get in the box is far more than just the game, there are heaps of other things as well, so it's worth looking at the second photo at dooverlackies because it shows what you get. It is shipped by either Express or courier to anywhere in Oz, which one depends on how close you are to a major city, and sent same day.And yeah, I know I've said this about a million times, but I can't overemphasise how big and heavy this item is! In terms of freight, although some games ship with free freight, it wouldn't be feasible to ship free AS WELL AS offering a HUGE discount at the same time on a pretty hard to get WOODEN BOX collector's kit like this, because It's a massively heavy item, and very fragile, so it needs lots of extra care to make sure it ships undamaged. That's why nobody ships this item free. As far as I can tell, nobody else sells this item.

I checked getprice.com.au and gamecafe.com.au and the stores that claimed to have it haven't had any stock for a long time. The only ones I know of that said they have stock are retail stores who charge $50+ now, but when I checked they didn't have them, and despite what their websites say, none of them can get the collector's edition.

Unlike most games that just get remade, this is a legitimate Limited Edition. Maybe that's why it was UBER-expensive not too long ago, $130 at Game, and $150 at EB. So it's well worth a look, because as far as I'm aware, it is very hard to get the Wooden Collector's box set new and sealed for this cheap.

Even most t-shirts cost more than that!

:P

  • Wow, this is still selling… I bought it from Harvey Norman months ago for $15. Obviously they didn't do much research when manufacturing these special editions, as you can still buy them cheap from most places brand new years after it's release.

    • Did you like the pack? I think it's pretty cool, a "far cry" from getting just the game :) Yeah, this edition is from May last year, and was snapped up by one distributor, who I think stock-piled them, rightly or wrongly. It's good to see this brilliant pack is getting the attention it deserves though, 4 sales of this deal in the first 8 minutes of submitting it! Hope there's enough stock to go around.

  • more old overpriced stock from these dooverlackie people….

    • Nobody sells it for under $50, and it was $130 at Game and $150 at EB, this is a steal at $22. Remember, it's not just the game. It's a pack that weighs nearly 2kg. This is a great deal.

      • +1

yeah but with $20 postage this is not a bargain.

        • But with $8.90 postage it is!

    • +1

Couldn't agree more. Someone needs to stop them from spamming their warez here.

  • never heard of dooverlackies before, anyone bought from them?

    • G'day Junereth, dooverlackies specialises in hard to get items. Haters (i.e. people that believe that only the latest items have any value) might say 'old', but buyers are usually over the moon to find the things they love but can't find anywhere. All games and software are brand new and sealed. Like Warcraft 2, Original Starcraft, Final Fantasy Crisis Core on PSP, Roxio Media Creator, some cool kids titles like Dora the Explorer, educational titles like Reader Rabbit, Encyclopaedia Britannica etc. Dooverlackies doesn't do everything. But everything dooverlackies does is done well. Sounds like a tongue-teaser!) And shipping is fast, done daily.

at $16.50 shipping this is a "far cry" from a bargain.

    • Actually, that may very well be how much it costs including packing and handling if you live outside Sydney. You see, this item has to be wrapped incredibly carefully, because it's a custom wooden box which is both heavy and fragile….a difficult combination for anyone shipping items.

You'd be right if it was just the game it would onlt cost a few dollars, but it's a nearly-2kg BRICK of gear! And remember this is then securely OVER-packed with bubble-wrap, then sent by EXPRESS or COURIER and courier delivery is secure, requires a signature for security and although it isn't the cheapest method of delivery, it is most often a "far cry" from Aussie Post!

Considering all that, it's not a bad price at all, especially when you're getting an expensive well-kitted out pack for nearly free.

Not you obviously….you must have been the guy all of us ignored at school!

        • +1

Bahaha, that's great, personal insults. Because that's going to be giving your store a great reputation.

I'm just waiting for the "other" rep to come out, like in this case: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/40759

        • Wont happen, if you ask 4WD-MAD, he's being polite & friendly.

Seen it being cleared at JB Hi-Fi for $15 to $20. It's been there for months and is probably still there.

    • Hmmm…. I've checked quite a few JB's and none of them have it. Which one do you know of that has it presently?

    • +1 I've also seen it around the $25 mark in some around Melbourne.

Ubisoft were giving away Far Cry 2 free a couple of weeks ago…. Can you price match?

    • Respectfully, that was for PC, not the Ltd Ed Wooden Box Set for PS3

  • I think a limited edition is pretty good value for under $40.

If it was for PC, i'd probably buy it. I can always ebay it on later if I"m not into it.

Edit- ooooooh just realised I picked it up for free when ubisoft.com had their melt down…. I still think it's good value though.

  • Edition from May last year? The game came out in October 2008. Fallout 3, Fable 2 and deadspace are the games that overshadowed it, along with COD5, Not 7.

Put up the games but leave the BS spin and lies out of it.

    • Yeah they're all great games (well, except Deadspace hehe), but no, sorry mate. This edition was actually first received in May 2010 li,ke I said. I'm not talking about the publishing date of the first release of the title, but the release of this revision of the Far Cry 2 Collector's pack. This is the Wooden box collector's edition, which wasn't released in every territory. It's the official PAL release for Australia too.

      • That's funny, because I purchased my copy in 2009.

      • +2

What the hell is first recieved supposed to mean? What date some particular person/company/website recieved them from another particular person/company/website that had them sitting around in a warehouse is completely irrelevant. It is a game from october 2008. The collectors edition in the wooden box was released in 2008. No additional copies of the collectors edition were made after this. End of story.

Keeping on with this constant twisting of reality is only hurting the business.

        • I don't know where you're getting your information from, sound like you read it on an American website, or a google cache of something generic. This collectors' edition was made in more than one location, as I alluded to it was made for different (but not all) territories, as most games are, and Australian CONSOLE (as opposed to PC) games are often not made in the same facility as their US counterparts. They're often made under licence and it can get quite complex, indeed much of the information won't be easily available because it's private company data. In any case, I'm talking about what actually happened in Australia, which is what matters, not what you found on a google search in 20 seconds.

        • +1

I'm not getting my information from the same land of fairies and unicorns that you seem to be, that's for sure. They do not make additional copies of collectors editions 18 months after the launch of a game. Why would they?

Even if they did, what does cod spec ops (it is black ops by the way) have to do with overshadowing a game that was over 2 years old when it came out.

        • I'm getting my experience from first hand experience, and the copy of mine i'm holding in my hand that I bought in 2009…. I don't know where you are getting your information from.

      • And you can keep telling us it's the official PAL release, but until you put a picture of your local stock on your site (ie. not that generic image with a non-AU rating on it), than how are we suppose to know it AU stock?

        • That was actually a good question, dooverlackies doesn't have access to foreign stock. This item is VERY heavy, and large, not worth sending from overseas if selling cheap. Mariio128 from HK (pretty good shop too) sells the US version (game only, not colletor's edition) for $29.99, obviously it's region free so that doesn't matter (single player games anyway) but again,it's the game-only, they don't sell this collectors' edition. The dooverlackies item will have an Australian Censorship Board rating sticker as well, as all Aussie titles must have to be legally sold in AU. Also, if you look at the second picture, it shows the Aussie item, although it may be hard to see from that that it is.

        • I'd rather get it from mariio because at least he's polite, friendly & incredibly helpful. I guess it's just my loss if I miss out on a box and a shirt!

  • i think he just did himself negative marketing lol

    • 'Himself' how sexist are you? Are women not allowed to speak….and you're assuming it's my site. It's not. I just help out being nice to the 'reasonable' people here and, regrettably, pointing things out every now an then to the rude people ;) hehe

      • Your comments above are highly offensive. Go away.

p.s Stop trying to offload this crap. No one cares when your store bought the stock, it's a 2 year old game, end of story.

      • Then why do you mark yourself as a rep if it's not your site and you're just "helping US out"?

  • what's cod: spec ops???

    • -1

Call Of Duty, which I was brought up to believe meant going to the toilet….but anyway. :) and Farcry 2 on PS3 was never free to answer someone else, that was a downloadable version for the PC, not the Playstation 3 full wooden box set!

      • Someone has completely missed the point.

Do you run dooverlackies because you're still using a P2 and can't run any current games?

        • Dual quad-core Xeon. (If you meant Pentium II, which is both off-topic and incongruent logic in that this is a Playstation 3 game…) And no I don't run anything, except my wives on the compound. Of course, that was a joke. Watch Big Love, anyone? ;P

      • Sorry, I've revised it, I meant Black Ops. Thinking about that makes me want to fall asleep…

  • Yeah I know the website is ugly. Anyway, I'm advised there are only 36 left at $19.99 people.

  • Can we enact this:

Reps posting deals which are constantly attracting excessive negative votes may also see the account and/or domain banned by the mods.

    • OK, I'm interested to know: the website is not the best looking site, etc etc, we all know that. But what is actually wrong with this deal? (excluding irrelevant data…) and please may I ask you to be constructive, not destructive?

      • Probably the thing that pushed me to vote negative is that the store rep lacks any customer service skills. Plus I wouldn't want to buy off a site that looked lime that anyway. If you can't afford a web designer, how do I know you're operating as an actual business, rather than just scam artist in a basement somewhere.

        • Website ugly, personality clash, does that mean only supermodels that you like are honest? I think we can agree that it's not smart to judge a book by its cover. Maybe dooverlackies considers giving away games to NZ quake-affected kids and to charities like Sydney Care more important than spending money being the prettiest site? I can tell you that at least the site works, people get they pay for, and isn't that the main thing? And respectfully, the question was "what about the deal?"

        • I wouldn't consider it a personality clash when nearly everyone on here appears to have a problem with you.

A pretty site doesn't need to cost money, put in some time & effort and do it yourself.

I don't trust sites that look like they were developed by children in their year 7 computers class. Unless I had absolutely no choice I would NOT buy from one. If they can't make a website look presentable, how do we know they've managed to provide a safe & secure checkout (which, for the record, is FAR more complex than the aesthetic design of a site)

        • The problem with the deal is that I've seen it cheaper and even though the CSRs at JB spray just as much ignorant BS as you, at least they don't have attitude problems. I'd rather spend my money where the reps actually show respect to the customers.

  • I haven't found anywhere as cheap as $19.99.

  • @Ashlea It's actually a channeladvisor site, which is one of the largest ecommerce providers, and the checkout is secure enough for some pretty big names to use it. The difference is that dooverlackies uses the default settings and hasn't done much in the way of design, but THE DEALS ARE VERY REAL :) in fact at least 24 of the items are exclusive, although some may not appeal to every user on here. Any ideas I can pass on in terms of design, outside of the obvious navigation on the site being simplistic?

  • since your being an ignorant, ive left some feedback at dooverlackies about you and listed this page in the feedback, hopefully you have a superior there that takes customer service more seriously

    • I'll resist the temptation to correct your grammar, but what about my comment was in any way insincere? And what exactly does constitute being "an ignorant"? I'll answer real questions, but agreeing with everything everybody says is just plain wrong, especially if it's factually inaccurate. If you would answer seriously, calmly and constructively, I'd appreciate it, because I'm being sincere with you. Hopefully you'll be decent enough to do the same.

      • -1

i could be sincere with you too, but the moderators here would deem that a personal attack, and unlike you, they do a fine job!

correct my grammar all you like, i care about it as much as you do about building a good rapport with potential customers here (imho)

        • -2

As I said, I'll answer real questions, but agreeing with everything everybody says is just plain wrong, especially if it's factually inaccurate. If anyone has anything constructive to say, I'll listen. I know this item costs a lot to send, because it does, but it's a really good item at a very cheap price, that's what we're all here for.

        • I've seen it cheaper.

  • I've really looked hard, and I haven't seen it cheaper (or even for sale) anywhere.
