You could get it by ticking off the renewal box. I got three years for around the 197 mark…
Sadly ticking off the renewal box didn't work for roughly 99% of people.
It does seem targeted, but if you can see it here, then you can buy six months of Game Pass for half price, $32.85 AUD, direct from Microsoft. You can stack these up to 3 years. Make sure you are signed in;

I've never joined, so only have 1 month for $1 or 14 day free trial. Any idea which of these is best to go for to try and get the 6 months @ half price to show up?
Hey man, I was in the same boat as you. I just got my Xbox 5 days ago.
I signed up for the 1 month for $1, and I left recurring billing on as it gives you an extra month for free. I then logged into my Microsoft account and disabled the billing option, 2 months for $1.
You can only sign up for the half price pass when billing is disabled. I clicked the link above and done it a few times and stacked to two years.
Ahhh right. Nice! Thanks for that. So 8 months for ~ $35. Will definitely set that up. Seems like game sharing works with it too
