  • Its $19/month after that.
Coles mobile is cheaper if you plan to keep using it as it gives 3GB data on Optus too and lasts 35 days for $20.

Great price .. doesn't look too easy to get out of contract and direct debit without 'logging a ticket'

Hmm, not even close to being tempting

“excess data usage charged at 1.5c per MB ($15 per GB)”

And no mention that I can see of data roll-over.

I’ll stick with Belong Mobile for the moment, thanks.

Do you pay 1 cent for Belong?

With Moose you can get 7.5 GB with 3 cents…

      • You can’t just add like that…

I got a $40 sim pack for $20, which gave me a total of 30GB initially, and additional data is $10 per 2GB, which you request, don’t get automatically allocated and billed.

Different people have different needs- this may suit you down to the ground, but it just isn’t for me.

        • I love belong and had 100 gb plus data but in the end, need to compare apple vs apple ( of two objects with similar properties:) )

Why don’t you mention that belong mobile has no phone support for customer

@vr4indian: You don't need it, you can do everything you need with their app and if you want to cancel you can revoke the PayPal authorisation so they can't charge you anymore. No need to wait for a response to your cancellation enquiry.

These pay 0c/1c/99c for the first month are rarely worth it.
Also for what it's worth I am not going to go through the hassle.
While "no contracts" strictly speaking is correct, they basically are trying to keep you locked in - very hard to cancel it seems.

Considering average bill of $40 per person and two per household. Around $80 per month.

With these $1 to $5 deals , you end up saving around 60 to 70 a month. This means around 840 a year . Add a tax and you will be saving 1000 plus in a year.. should be good for a week holiday

      • Hahaha where the (profanity) do you get tax from? You are just making up calculations.

        • To keep 840 in pocket person need to earn 840 + 20 to 30 % tax in real world ..

          • +2

@vr4indian: Yes, but whether you spend the money you earn on a phone bill, or something else, or simply save it, the tax payable on that income doesn't change. So I think it's a bit of a red herring here.

        Try $10.

Apart from OZBARGAIN forum , there is a bit different world in australia where average bill goes more then $40…

          • +4

@vr4indian: You're talking to ozbargain members here, not the average Australian

      • So you change your mobile number every month?

        • Not if you have a dual sim phone.

        • Not if you port your number

If anyone is keen on these $1/month introductory deals they'd be better off sticking with Kogan as at least they are a known quantity.

Personally I can't be bothered to go through the hassle every month and prefer to stick to Belong $10/month plus lots of data bank.

There's a lot of negativity in this thread.

The offer is good. Isn't it? 1 cent for one month of unlimited calls/texts and 2.5GB of data. What is better than that? There is no need to continue with it after the data runs out.

I don't make many actual phone calls preferring to use Messenger and very rarely send a SMS text message. I have two phones one which is a 3G standard phone for receiving calls which has $5 of credit on it and a 365 day expiry (it's on Aldi). It has a very good life on battery probably because it's rarely used that can last for 7 days without recharging. I also have a smartphone on which I browse the internet, do banking and play about with Android apps. It barely lasts the day on battery. I use it to make calls and also use about 35GB of data per month. If this isn't a good deal then what would be the best deal?

I would take it up but I've got so many other offers on the go I don't think I'll be able to use it.

    • The offer is good. Isn't it?

      No.

    • There is no need to continue with it after the data runs out.

Except that it isn't that easy, you have to submit a ticket and hope someone looks at it before you get charged.

  • Thank you op
How do u turn off direct debit after first month? Can't seem to find it anywhere on their website or in t&cs

    • +1

You’ve got to submit a ticket. They’d reply to your query only after they’ve debited the second month. I’d stay clear

      • thanks! will stay clear too. sounds like so much trouble.

  • this is on a plan not prepaid thus a credit check not worth it if thats the case?

  • This is nowhere even close to competitive.

  • Careful with this type of post paid contract.
I signed up on a similar promo like this and foolishly put it in my wife's new phone.
The phone lost connection with the house wifi and proceeded to upload old photos from her SD memory card to Google photos online server using mobile data.
The 1GB allowance was very quickly exceeded and got a bit of bill shock afterwards…..

  • Is there a last date to get/buy this offer? The earliest I can activate this is on Feb 14 and want to buy it close to Feb 14 - 30 days
