I reckon they're worth it. I've had 3 pairs over the years; tried Shure in between one pair, but much preferred these.

My only disappointment with Apple getting rid of the headphone jack was the inconvenience it caused for using these.

      • Their fit might be a problem for some people, although I've read that people get used to them after around a week. They're also a good alternative to active noise cancelling headphones (i.e. Bose QC35, Sony WH-1000X).

        • can buy different sized tips, i had foam ones but got larger ones for my bigger ear canals. ebay is probably cheapest.

only thing is the wax filters you need to change every now and then.

              too much deep penetration.

yeah that's why i am skipping headphone jackless phones for a while. i suppose you have a dongle adapter but whatever.

i used a few models of these for a long while. i find them better for sleeping on planes because you can lean on them with minimal fuss and with them all the way in they really block out a lot of noise. combine that with music on full blast you can't hear the engines.

that said, wh-1000xm3 are all the rave now.

i needed their warranty once and they were excellent. sent me a new pair for an issue they acknowledged.

        • I had the same - a pair broke, contacted them, and they sent me a new pair straight away.

From memory, they may have put a hold on my credit card for the value of the replacement, but they credited it back immediately upon receiving the defective ones back.

Don't think anyone will care but these earphones use RAB 32257 drivers which are about $20 a pop from digikey, or $10 a pair on taobao.

Etymotic goes through a crazy amount of QC for their ER4, something like 90% of the drivers don't make it, and they end up here in the ER3, like "B-stock". They're still drivers that fully passed Knowles' QC, and imo differences are imperceptible by humans.

They sound good, but if anyone's feeling adventurous, you can get the sound for ~$20 with DIY and learn a lot along the way.

And P.S. there are quite a few earphones that match or far exceed these in sound quality at lower prices, most of them are less known Chinese brands. I've made a few posts about them, so you can look through my comments history if you're interested.
