Mirabella Genio Smart Wi-Fi Globe $15 @ Kmart

790

Been seeing alot of deals lately regarding google home and Amazon Alexa. Noticed Kmart are selling Smart Bulbs that are compatible with both starting at $15 which is almost as cheap as their 'non-smart' bulbs.

Remember when we had all those sub $15 Yeelight deals… They were good.

    • What happened to them? Why are they no longer available?

  • +4

I bought one of these last week and it's only bright enough for a lamp or maybe a toilet/pantry - decent globe though and works well with their own app and Google home.

Unfortunately, this isn't a deal, it's the regular price.

    • +14

Regular price can be a bargain as far as I’m concerned

        • +10

So if you could buy a phone that did everything a 2018 flagship does for $50 (as RRP) you wouldn't consider that something worth posting here?

            • -6

@ExtraSalt: All you neggers must love seeing "RRP" on tickets lol… I'm still going to get a couple of the switches to compare to my Tp-Link ones but RRP is Recommended Retail Price… RRP is NOT Really Rad Price.

It's cheap because Mirabella is a cheap company. Unless it gets included in their regular 50% promotions, it is not a bargain. A great price point for those on the fence, but not something you'd race out to get.

        • +4

RRP can be a bargain. Dominos value range is a bargain, doofus.

          • -1

@Bellpop: Domino's value range is a great package for a basic entry-level pizza. You go up to a mid-range you pay about 12-17? You go to a sit-down restaurant and expect to pay 15-25 for a plate-sized pizza. You go to another sit-down the next day and pay 12-17 for the same combination and thats automatically considered a bargain.

RRP is not a bargain. It's retrospective of the manufacturers chosen market and target audience. RRP is the subtle way companies price fix with a suggestion where everybody makes money.

            • +2

@ExtraSalt: “Dominos value range is a great package…” aka bargain? Haha

Close to nothing you wrote makes any sense to me. Let’s agree to disagree.

              • -2

@Bellpop: So you don't agree that a bargain is only considered a bargain relative to the companies target audience?

Simple English for the simple minded.

Restaurant 1 serves a pepperoni pizza for $22
Restaurant 2 serves the same pizza with the same ingredients and is just as good but sells it for $17.

                Restaurant 2 is a bargain.

Domino's is not competing against those fellas.they are competing with the "hmm Idk what I feel like let's just get takeway" market who would be just as happy with a value meal or a tight ass Tuesday feed.

Therefore Domino's is not a bargain (but like I said earlier) a great package for a very basic entry level pizza which definitely does the job.

        • Oz Retail strikes again haha

          • +2

@ExtraSalt: Someone start a forum on what constitutes a bargain!

            teamrrpnotabargain

            • @spiff: Haha team eadRRP

People think I'm hating on this product or something but they are are just too ignorant to understand what consititutes as a bargain on OzBargain. A bargain in the everyday world is not the same a as a bargain on OzB.

              • @ExtraSalt: they are are just too ignorant to understand what consititutes as a bargain on OzBargain. A bargain in the everyday world is not the same a as a bargain on OzB.

                😳🙄

                • -1

@Bellpop: What constitutes a bargain is a discount from rrp.

technology advances resulting in more affordable smart appliances at rrp does not constitute a bargain. Thats simply the sign of the times.

Finding a cheaper rrp from retailer to retailer also does not constitute a bargain. That's just diligent shopping.

That said, I was honestly surprised at the prices of these smart products and I'm thankful for the post despite my strong set of ozb principles and adherence to strict bargain correctness.

I put an oldish WeMo 800 lumens on my patio the other day and it wasn't bright enough really need 1100. To make things worse it fell out and smashed after 2 days and it's not clear to me whether there was something different a out the outdoor socket that required a higher grade bulb or if I just mis-connected. It did look a bit melted at the base.

Anyway moral of the story is… I need a 1100 lumens outdoor grade B22 bulb but haven't figured out which direction to go yet.

    • +1

Well what did you expect? it hints they're not very bright in the description;) "Mirabella Genio B22 CW Wi-Fi Dim Bulb"

  • +2

Awesome to now have a B22 option. Interested to hear feedback before taking the plunge

I have a couple in my house. One in a lamp and one as the main light in the bedroom. Both are the cool white one. I was very impressed with the brightness and it can be turned up or down with the app. The globes actually use tuya framework so you can download the tuya app and link them and they will work. This lets you link to ifttt (haven't tested but ifttt has a tuya section). I linked my lights to my raspberry pi running home assistant and they work fantastic. Work very well with Google home too. Pretty surprised with it and will probably buy more. Tempted to try colour but the white ones work great.

    • +2

Great idea to use in a lamp

      • +7

You could say it was a Lightbulb moment.

    • How did you connect these into home assistant? Cheers!

      • +1

Instead of connecting them to the app it recommendeds connect them to the tuya smart app. Then in your home assistant config you can use the tuya documentation (https://www.home-assistant.io/components/tuya/) to link your account and away you go!

        • Thanks mate I’ll buy one today and give it a go cheers!

    • Thanks for the helpful info!

This is more of a PSA than a bargain.

  • +5

For people saying it's not a bargain, $25 at big w. 40% off is a bargain in my books

    • That's a bargain. How the post was structured (and OP not knowing of other competitors pricing) is not a bargain. I mentioned this product in a previous post where (I can only assume) they noted and posted as a separate deal.

I'm interested in the switch though. the USB outlet is a great touch. Have you got any?

      • Picked up a couple of globes today. Installed one, and works a treat with Google home

      • Apologies @andrgram. For future posts i will do thorough research, kinda just did this one on the fly.

The adaptor is pretty good,i'm using it for my Xmas tree lights. USB port is only 5V 1.5A so i think it may take longer to charge devices?

    • Also note this might be exclusive to kmart atm because they have stock and there's no way to get them at Bigw instore or online

  • +2

Good deal, nice to see this stuff getting cheaper and cheaper. Thanks!

  • If it is actually 800 lumens then it doesn't really get brighter in the smart bulb department. Tests I've read say my tp-link bulbs are the brightest in real life and this is their specification.
It also has powerpoints that include one usb (under powered). This is great.
App is under-developed. But it is only 3 months old.

    • You can use the tuya app and they will still connect, found the app to be a little bit better but still not perfect

    • +1

Reviews I’ve read actually quote LIFX as the brightest. Quoted at 1100 lumens.

  • +3

I grabbed a bunch of these well the cool white ones and they are decent enough. Work well in own app and with Google home. Dimmable led for 15 shut up take. My money.

  • Equivalent to old 60w incandescent bulb. Decent but not great. Great to see price movement, and before we know it the 1100 lumen bulbs will be cheap as chips!

  • Is it 110V compatible?

    • I believe only 240V.

      • Okay cheers

  • Ordered 3 of them click and collect last night. This afternoon I received an email from PayPal saying kmart refunded my order.

Oh well. Hopefully they start stocking them again.

  • A little late to the party, but does anyone know if the colour bulbs are also capable of cool white light? Thanks in advance!

    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/mirabella-genio-wi-fi-b22-c…

    • +1

Nope, only capable of warm white as it's white light output

      • Alright, thanks for letting me know!

You have a range from $15-$29 which adds those options
As long as you don't need RGB, $20 will give you the option to tune between Warm/Cool/Day

  • Dang, I'm late to the smart light party! My newly purchased table lamp doesn't come with a light bulb. Thought I'd be able to benefit from an LED deal.

  • Picked up a socket today.. Disappointed the USB outlet isn't disabled when the plug is "off" which is what I wanted it for.

    • i actually contacted their c/s re the same problem and they mentioned that the reason for this was so that you wouldn't need to turn the plug on to use the USB port in case you had an appliance connected to it that you didn't want on i.e lamps, appliances etc.
