I bought one of these for my focus RS, wanted to match the seats and all. The problem is the base is quite wide so the clicker almost sat under which made it impossible for my daughter to plugin. Became such a pain that i swapped it for the one in the wifes car as the base wasnt as wide.

So if your looking forward to your child being able to do their own seatbelts, make sure yo dont have a narrow seat base with this particular seat…otherwise awesome booster!

  • Was looking for a booster seat for my daughter. Which one is better - Recaro or Safety 1st?

I have two of the Safety 1st seat above. I'm happy with it, doesn't seem unsafe or anything.

It is well reviewed for protection appears. Not sure why negged on ease of use I don't have any issues using it.

Thanks for the info. If I have two of these Safety 1st installed at the backseat of a mid sized SUV, do you reckon there is still room for an adult to sit in the middle?

        • +2

Like i mentioned in my post, the recaro one seems to have a wide base so if you were thinking of 2 of those i can say the adult in the middle wouldnt be happy. cant comment on the safety1st though…

Yes they could fit, not sure you'd want to sit between two kids though!

I have a Territory though, so if smaller than that you'd struggle. I don't think there are any "skinner" car seats really though either.

@deelaroo: I also have 2 of the Safety 1st Apex boosters and they are great booster seats for bigger kids but they aren't that slim. For a large SUV or minivan owner, there shouldn't be any issues have 2 boosters and an adult sitting in the middle row. In the back row however, 2 boosters will take up the whole row. For small cars or SUV's 2 boosters will take up most of the middle row and there is definitely no room for a middle passenger (adult or older child).

The slimmest available booster seats would either be:

            or:
            https://www.bigw.com.au/product/infasecure-traveller-booster…
I've used both for my kids before, they ain't the most comfy or offer the best protection, but for space, easy travel and price, either of those would be the best options available for travellers or smaller cars.

I hope this helps & good luck! cheers

Can tell just from the pics that the safety 1st base is narrower. Will mean the kids can get their belts on themselves easier and more space next to the seat.

The Recaro really is for looks, dont get me wrong, its not a bad seat but no better then others. Paying extra for the 'recaro' look/brand.

A Recaro booster seat. For all the budding 3yo revheads out there.

  • Always wanted to try recaro seats. Is there one for adults?

  • Just bought one! Good price on the recaro!
