  • Anyone know off-hand how these compare to Samsung 860?

  • Seagate is owned by Samsung?

  • Nice price but rather wait for their new sandforce controller revision. As mentioned before the controller is ancient in tech term.

  • Here are my top 7 tips for getting the most from your SSDs.

Enable TRIM. TRIM is essential for keeping SSDs in tip-top shape.
    Don't Wipe the Drive.
    Update Your Firmware.
Move Your Cache Folder to a RAM Disk.
    Don't Fill to Full Capacity.
    Don't Defrag.
    Don't Store Large Files.

    Don't store large files???
Storing large files won't make any difference to your SSD life.

    Don't defrag???
Modern OS's and disk management software don't defrag SSDs anyway. It's simply not possible.

Move your cache folder to RAM???
Most people don't have enough spare RAM for a RAM Disk. And running cache files on your SSD isn't going to shorten it's life that much.

    Don't fill to capacity???
Better to format the disk and leave min 10% free space unformatted.

    • isnt trim enabled by default? ive never seen a specific TRIM setting to enable since the original intel x25m-g2's
