  • Oh wow, the C7000 Plasma wars is starting again? I thought they'd finally sold all these? :s

  • webside???

  • wonder what will be the price of 50"?

  • Amazing price, about half of what was quoted for the same TV only 11 month ago.

    • just think what the price will be like in another 11 months …

      • -1

they will be paying us to take them off their hands, why else would you want a plasma.

        • Why would people want a plasma? Better viewing angles, more natural colours and picture, and better for 3D. Also a lot cheaper than LED/LCDs (try getting a 58" LED for the same price)!

LEDs are also normally thinner, but this Samsung is only 1.4" deep (not including the stand), and many have mistaken it for an LED due to this.

This particular Samsung series though does have problems associated with buzz (but most Samsungs do), and a more serious problem where the screen blanks out and wouldn't come on again (check the Whirlpool link myarken posted or DTV Forums - seems to be more common with sets sold after October/November last year, not so much before that). Get an extended warranty if you don't want the hassle of dealing with Samsung after the warranty period expires (statutory warranty should protect you for some time after the 1 year warranty period, but it all depends on how easy/difficult Samsung wants to make it for you).

  • Be careful…

I had one and took it back as it had 3 dead pixels … DOA. returned for refund. (After returning 3 UA55C7000 all with very bad backlight bleed)

clearing stock to make way for new models.

    • Be careful indeed. Mine's been playing up too.

    • I returned two PS50C550 plasmas for pixel defects during the middle of 2010.

I would wait for the new models as they were officially launched yesterday. These new models should already be in some stores.

For plasmas, we will not get the 7000 series in 2011, instead we have the 8000 series. The entire 2011 range has 1" increase in screen sizes and 3D sets come with Bluetooth 3D glasses to improve on crosstalk. The 2010 infrared 3D glasses have been superceded. For some sets, the RRPs have come down (e.g., 2010 PS63C7000 RRP-$4499, 2011 PS64D8000 RRP-$4299).

  • Hmmm no problems with my PS58C7000 that i've had since november last year, glad i purchased 2years extra warranty though.

  • +1

For people considering this try to get a starter kit, which including 2 sets of 3D glasses and a Monsters vs. Aliens DVD. I bought mine (for $1,617) with one included a few weeks ago from Myer Fremantle and the guy said he had access to more.

As 3D has has its issues on this TV you may want to consider selling the starter pack plus the additional glasses in the box for roughly ~$150, making the TV itself cost $1,429.

  • It's $1597. I negotiated this price about 2-3 weeks ago (didn't end up getting it though).

    • thanks mate, just updated that.:P

  • Do any myer stores actually have these still? Last time I checked a few stores around Penrith area were still advertising them but had none left anyway.. Hope the psu/buzzing issues fixed for 2011 model

  • I'm thinkning of 3D … my concern is that there isn't enough content to justify it.
Saw this article about the downside of 3-D, should I worry? http://bit.ly/emGiYU

How many sets of glasses come with the screen?

    • One inside the box, but try to get a starter kit which will include 2 more
