Oral B-Genius Series 9000 Electric Toothbrush $129.97 @ Costco (Membership Required)

600

Seems to be the cheapest price yet for the 9000.
Plenty in stock at Costco Marsden Park, unsure as to stock levels in other stores.

The side of the box mentions you can return it to Oral B within 180 days if it doesn’t live up to your expectations, which I thought was a nice touch.

    Nice find, thanks

  • Looks like it's the ones with "smart" in the model number that has the lithium ion batteries.

  • Good price for one with warranty etc. But the joybuy one is still a great dealbat $82us

    https://m.joybuy.com/600115629.html

Mines been going strong for over a year now

    • Did yours come with the charging travel case?

      • No charging case.
Battery lasts over 2 weeks by itself tho which is good

      • The charging travel case is only useful if you are going overseas as the charger for that works on all voltages.

The normal charger only works on 240v

Is this currently the best value electric toothbrush?

    • Yes! I had an electric before this and this just blows it away, it literally feels like Ive just come back from the dentist type clean. Worth it!

      • +2

I have the cheap Oral B Vitality (cost $20). How do the more expensive ones offer a better clean? Faster oscillations?

        • +1

you wont understand until you try the top range..

          • @CyberMurning: This. The vitality will be thrown way….(but keep the charger, they are all the same)

    130 clams for a toothbrush?

    • or 2 soocas

    • +3

I was sceptical about electric toothbrushes. But a good, powerful one completely changes your perception of what clean teeth really is.

  • what are differences between oral b 8000 and 9000? just bought an 8000 from Big W for $120 and is still brand new unboxed. Can return it if 9000 is way better

    • +2

In terms of cleaning performance, feel and battery life - absolutely no difference.
From Smart 4000 right up to 9000, the above elements are identical. The only difference is the extras in the box.

EDIT - Small correction to the above - Even Oral B openly points out on their website what a farce the difference between the 8000 and 9000 is - the colour of the handle ??!?!? Box contents are the same.

        great. Thanks
Looks like no need to return it.

  • +2

Good deal I guess but worth mentioning that this expensive Genius 9000 is no different in terms of cleaning performance and feel to the cheaper Smart 4000 (picked this up a couple weeks ago from Shaver Shop on ebay when they had 20% off - $79 shipped). In terms of wanky features, the Smart 4000 still comes with bluetooth (app) along with with three brusheads and travel case. It just doesn't have things like facial tracking to enhance the app experience, extra cleaning modes (comes with 3 vs 5) etc.

My advice - save your money and stick to the Smart 4000.

    • +4

      But this is over 9000!!!!

Not quite I guess, but close enough.

    • +2

Yeah we have 2 x Smart 4000 and 2 x Genius 9000 in the household and I can tell you that the brushing mechanism is exactly the same, heck they even sound the same.

      • +1

Yep, buy that. $89 is still a good price.

        • +2

Thanks bought it. Used $10 voucher they sent me recently and with 6% cb from cashreward brought this to $74.26

This will be my first electric toothbrush, lets see how it goes

          • +2

@ujwols: Watch some videos on how to properly brush your teeth with an electric toothbrush. I know it sounds ridiculous, but you do have to change the way you brush from conventional methods. Especially if it's a sonic one like the Philips or Colgate-Omron ones.

          • +1

            @ujwols: Bargain! Nice pick up.

    • The mechanism for PC500 is also the same.

      https://www.myer.com.au/p/professional-care-500-toothbrush-p…

      Only difference is no red-pressure-LED.
The spinning speed is the same.

      • Define mechanism - I had purchased that model in 2016 and can assure you that it only has 2D oscillation (which is shared with the bargain basement Vitality models you buy at Woolies etc) vs 3D in the more expensive models (Smart 4000 and above). I didn't seriously look at this Pro 500 (as I wanted to upgrade) but I recall the only recent change to this model was to a li-ion battery (Ni-mh previously). Spin speed may be the same but the 3D action is where the money (better clean) is at.

    • My smart 4000 doesn't come with travel case…. Yeah weird
      Anyway got case from AliExpress

  • Is it much better than the Braun Professional care ones? I have one thats been going for 5-10 yrs maybe time to upgrade? I just keep replacing with the newest model of oral b brush heads.

    • I had a Professional Care (Pro 500) and the Smart 4000 and above are much better. 3D action vs 2D of the Pro and Vitality series cleans better. The Li-ion battery in the newer models is much better too. After 5+ years, your battery would be shagged so you are getting effective cleaning performance any longer. After 2.5 years my Pro battery was struggling hence why I upgraded.

      • +1

Thanks yeah the battery doesnt really matter as mine lives on the charger 24/7 and only works for a few minutes each day hehe The 3d sounds good!

  • +3

I get this for free once a year from Oral-B being a dentist lol

    • +2

Do you wanna sell an unused one?

      • +2

you want to sell the used one? (i dont mind, can always change the brush bit)

  • This or the Philips Sonicare or the Xiaomi Oclean One? Which is the best one?

    • +1

      The Oral-B is marginally better

“Brushes with a rotation oscillation action reduced plaque and gingivitis more than those with a side to side action in the short term. However, the difference was small and it’s clinical importance unclear.”
      http://www.cochrane.org/CD004971/ORAL_different-types-of-pow…

However the bigger thing to consider is how you will use the brush.

If you use the Oral-B all you need to do is move the toothbrush in your mouth while letting the brush gently touch your teeth. Pressing to hard will damage your gums.

The Phillips you can use more like a traditional toothbrush so you have a lower chance of damaging your gums due to using to much force.

      • Thanks for that, very helpful.

There was a study by Cochrane some years ago that concluded that oscillating brushes (eg Oral B) cleaned slightly more effectively than sonic (eg Philips). There difference was minimal though.

If you google comparison reviews on both, many point to the Oral B vs Philips Sonicare.

My dentist also told me he though Oscillating brushes clean better than sonic and that was his recommendation (Oral B).

Sonicare brush heads are extremely expensive compared to Oral B at 2-2.5 times the price.

I had a Oral B Pro 500 that was wearing out and the abovementioned points made me stay with Oral B.

      • +1

Thanks for that, very helpful & I definitely don't want to be replacing expensive brush heads.

  • can someone provide me the receipt ? i wanan price match with HN or jb ( or they dont price match with costco ) ? thanks

    • +3

      Computer say no

  • Went to Costco Adelaide and they are sold out. They also said that they would not be stocking the item anymore

    • Spewin’

  • I have it, it's great, makes a huge difference in cleaning from the standard / cheaper elec toothbrushes . The app is a bit flakey.

Anybody able to tell me which is better & how, the Oral B 9000 or the Xiaomi Oclean One? I have tried to google it briefly but was unable to find anything specific & would much rather hear from people with previous experience.

    • me too want to know if Oclean one is better?

  • Has anyone recently seen this product in this price in Costco Northlake?

    • I was there on tuesday and I saw these near the entrance. I couldn't recall the price though

      • Thanks mate

    • They are down to $99.97, just bought one.

  • Anyome in VIC able to find these?

    • Was at Moorabbin yesterday and none there

  • Can you use those cheapie replacement heads from Chemist Warehouse like you can with the cheaper $25 model? Or is the brush head specialised for this model?

    • Yes - all models share the same brush heads. There are no unique brush heads to the more expensive models

  • Great price for a 9000
I have one and paid much much more than that.
Sadly, no Costco anywhere near us

  • +1

Will happy trade mine with smart 4 to save $50
This 9000 has lots of accessories that I don't use. The case is gigantic.

  • Anyone seen this at any of the VIC stores? None at Docklands when I went yesterday.

  • +2

Ended up buying it through Amazon for $152.10 (~$138 after current 10% CR cashback) with free Oral-B Variety 4 Pack Refills. Lack of stock and 4 pack of refills for $8 means the Amazon deal was worth it for mine.

    • Can you provide a link to the Amazon store please?

      • -4

whats so hard with open amazon and search?

  • Just contact costco. No Victorian stores have stock and the wont be getting more
