Umm … why?? To calculate GST component of an item then divide by 11. To calculate ex GST price divide by 1.1. I can do that with any calculator.

True. Takes one touch to work it out on this tool. To do what you mentioned takes 3 or 4 keystrokes provided there's no error.

      Each to their own.

I definitely wouldn't install another unknown app to add or deduct a 10% off a number and tell me it's the GST! Why? What am I gonna do with the GST? It's always mentioned in the payment receipt by law!

    I'd rather use GST Calculator

  • TIL, people would pay $1.89 for this.

Lets assume 10k downloads were paid. That's $18,900.

  • It was hidden here before ;-)

  • Surely this is a joke??

I fear not, maybe it's an investment so when GST increases to a more difficult calculation you are already future proof 😀

Why does it need all the permissions?

    This app has access to:
    Other

    receive data from Internet
    view network connections
    full network access
    prevent device from sleeping
    Google Play license check

    • I am pretty sure Google Play license check is required for all paid apps, which this app normally is.

Prevent device from sleeping is to stop the screen from turning off while the app is running, it's not a dangerous permission.

But all the others are not needed for the app's stated purpose. In my opinion, their presence means one or more of the following:
      - the app is going to show ads to you
      - they are spying on you
      - they are using you device to "mine" bitcoin or similar
      - they are using your device to click on advertisements, to make money for the program author
      - they are using your device to obscure their internet access, similar to the way Tor works

I avoid apps with such unnecessary permissions. Sadly, apps with only minimal permissions are now quite rare, and Google Play makes them difficult to find.
