Really good price for a decent entry level sous vide cooker. Connects to your phone using bluetooth (no wifi). Lower wattage at 750w compared to more expensive models, but supposedly has a better heating algorithm.

  Is the standard version (going for $149 at the moment) a better choice! It is made from metal instead of plastic, has higher wattage and wifi.

  Is the purpose of WiFi so I can be at work and connect to the Sous Vide device via my home WiFi?

  This would be an advantage as I could set it up and start cooking at mid day to have food ready by the time I get home. Otherwise, I might as well go for the bare bones version.
