    Smooth yes, gentle…not so much! My local produces a cold brew with enough punch you could use it to power the space shuttle!

    Most of the marketing for cold brew focuses on the science, rather than the taste. Hot brew is still better value - bang for buck re caffeine content. Cold brew uses less water, therefore more highly concentrated, but overall less caffeine content. If you look for comparisons in taste, it all seems to focus on caffeine content, beans used, how they were roasted etc. It looks as though it's just a way of one place getting more custom with the latest gimmick. Still, I've yet to try it :)
