30

CentreCom are having a weekend special at their stores until 4pm Saturday 9/4.

Specials are:
- Seagate 500gb 2.5 inch Portable Hard Drive (usb 2.0)$49
- Acer G225HQBD 22inch Monitor $108* (You pay $127 - you get $19 Cash Back through Acer)
- Lenovo G650 Notebook $399* (You pay $449 - you get $50 cash back through Lenovo)

These specials are in store - so no need to send off money, provide ID and all of the other crap that they put you through.

NOW - I know CentreCom's reputation, yes i have purchased off them through their on line specials to find that by the time i get the products, my kids have grown up and left for uni. Yes, i have witnessed shocking customer service, Yes i have gone into a store only to find that seemingly they have no stock to back up their advertising. Yes, when their rep came on here to sell an over priced WD Media Player, he got ripped a new one (i even just enjoyed reading the thread again! http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/24952)

BUT these prices are good (all better than what is listed as cheapest on Static Ice)

I have seen this monitor and it is very good value for money, and hopefully tomorrow morning i will have a third monitor setup. I don't need a hard drive or a notebook, but this may benefit others.

Remember Neg the company not the poster.

  • Just a word of warning re these Seagate extension 500GB drives:
I have had two of this exact model fail. Might just have been unlucky and they were probably from the same batch, but a word of caution. They failed within the first week when transferring large amounts of data from storage in 20GB chunks.
I wouldn't buy this model again.
No worries of any kind with the 2.5 500GB freeagents.
    And as always, YMMV.

    • I would also like to add that my usb port fell of the silicon chip. But the hard drive is still working.

      • If I understand correctly: the USB interface failed and you took the drive out and it's OK?
        Apologies if I misinterpreted.

    • Mines still going strong. Remember to Pricematch at Officeworks for the extra $2.45 off :)

  • wrt the external hard drive, Aldi's special buys from 14th April has a 1TB USB3.0 portable hard drive for $79. No idea what dimension or brand of hard drive it is.

    • +1

      3.5"

    • looks pretty small to me..but 1Tb 2.5" $79 no don't think so…YET

  • Monitor and laptop both require sending away for a cash back.. I can't stand cashbacks!

  • Centrecom have now gotten with the times and accept Paypal! This is an upgrade over their usual jump through the hoops Credit Card payments and the slow bank transfers. I will now shop more with them.

    • I thought the same, but depending on the value of the purchase, you have to pay their paypal fees. I bought some components a month or so ago, (about $400 worth) and they wanted a $16 paypal fee.
