Baaaaaalllsss this is th B8 not the C8. Set me on fire and throw me in a river.

    • Can't you change it?

    • +12

Set me on fire and throw me in a river.

      Sounds counterproductive…

      • -2

I see what you did there!

    • +2

Would negging the deal suffice? I don't get to neg all that often…

  • Yup the B8 model - I doubt VP have any 65C8 left

  • -1

    add city/state to location please

  • The B8 & C8 have very minor differences

    https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare

Accoriding to RTINGS, they both got the same score with mixed usage.

    I have last year's B7 and still it's gorgeous.

    Cheers

    • +2

Last year's B7 and C7 had the same panel and chip. This year there is a slight different (different chip)

      • +1

Agree however in my view the processing will have minor differences.
Having said this, if the C8 is slightly more expensive than the B8 then I'll still opt for the C8
        Cheers

  • C8 is $3,199.20 plus delivery, after this code at appliance central ebay

    • Refurbished though

      • Whoops, posted the ebay link.

        It’s brand new, not refurb.

  • What's the difference between B8 and C8?

    • I have the link above :-)

        The Comparison
When comparing the LG OLED B8 vs. the OLED C8, the differences, at least on the surface, are difficult to find. Of course, they’re both state-of-the-art OLED TVs, breathing new life into movies, sports, games and with OLED’s tell-tale perfect black and intense color that’s only offered by the Best. Picture. Ever*. But when you dig a little deeper, you'll discover some fine variations that may mean a lot to you. Here are a few:

The Processors. While the B8 has an a7 processor, the C8 boasts an a9 processor, which means that the B8 has slightly more limited processing power than the C8. One of the things that this means for you is that the B8 uses dual-step noise reduction, rather than the quad-step process found in the C8. However, while the B8's processor may not be as streamlined as the C8's, and there may be slight differences in overall sharpness, both televisions produce stunningly crisp, lifelike images.

High Frame Rate (HFR) & High Dynamic Range (HDR). Although the B8 and C8 both support HDR imaging, and high frame rates, because of the somewhat more limited processing power of the B8, that television cannot support both simultaneously. However, with the increased processing power of the C8, HDR and HFR can be used at the same time.

The Design. The most noticeable difference in the LG C8 vs. B8 comparison comes in the design – specifically in the design of the televisions' stands. The C8's is slightly wider and heavier than the B8's, and it features a cutout beneath the downward-directed speakers that help reflect sound toward the front of the television. Meanwhile, the B8's stand might look similar, but without the cutout, it isn't able to direct sound quite as well as the C8.

Although the LG B8 and C8 may appear virtually identical, there are some slight nuances that may make the C8 a better choice for the die-hard movie buffs among us. That said, both televisions deliver superior images in 4K Ultra HD, incredible Dolby Atmos* sound, and offer AI (Artificial Intelligence) ThinQ® with the Google Assistant built in, so you can control compatible smart home devices using just your voice. Create a center for your smart home and beyond. Plus, it works with Amazon Alexa devices.

  • Why they make C8’s stand so ugly.. urgh

    • +1

Trust me, when you turn the TV on and see the gorgeous image, the looks of the stand will fade :P

    • +1

It's like that to reflect the sound from the downwards-firing speakers towards you. I actually think it looks fine regardless.

    • So that you do the right thing and wall mount it

      But audio is pretty bad

  • my 55C6T screen cracked without any reason … so fragile.. didnt even survive 1.5 year…. disappointed

    • Have you tried to contact LG of the issue?
I understand that it has a year warranty but you can use ACL to see if they can fix.
      It's worth a shot.
      Cheers

      • will give it a try … thanks….

  • If you plan to play 30FPS games like RDR2 on current gen OLEDs, you might want to look into the issue with judder and see if it's still suitable for you.

I missed the previous C8 deal but have since decided to hold off on an OLED for the time being, given that Variable Refresh Rate being standard doesn't seem too far away.
Some 2018 Samsung QLEDs should already have Variable Refresh Rate & FreeSync support.

    • I run Forza Horizon 4 ~ 4K60p @ 60FPS - PC on my B7 and have no issues.
I would expect the B8/C8 to be better
      Cheers

      • Yeah I specifically said 30FPS games.

Games that hold a steady 60FPS shouldn't have any issues at all, since it matches the native refresh rate @4K.

        • Fair enough.

In regards to Forza Horizon 4, 60FPS is not constant and will vary b/n 30-60FPS
I have other games that run 30FPS and still have no issues.
Have you seen this issue on an OLED or just read up on it?

          • @vinni9284: Haven't seen it in person, but I've done enough reading to know it's an issue to many.
            One example thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED/comments/a2tcb5/how_to_fix_stu…

From my understanding, the issue is due to the near-instant pixel response times and not poor calibration or bad settings.
It seems like some won't notice it or get used to it, and others will find games affected by it virtually unplayable.

Do you play in Game Mode?

            • @Feelsbad:

Do you play in Game Mode?

              Yes.

I did have a quick glance and it seems like an issue for this particular game. Although I don't have this game but it is fairly new.

The question I would ask is:

              • Is the issue, the game? Does it need an update.
              • It seems like an issue with this game and are there other reports about other games?
              • The thread claims that the issue is from the X Box 1 X in general. Does other platforms cause the TV to have this issue?

Tbh, I may not have fast eye reflexes as others, so I am going by my experience and also don't have any really fast Gaming monitors as a comparison.

You can read in RTings is that the OLED has the lowest input lag in any TV.

So it seems like an isolated issue, particularly with this game.
I am sure when the next game patch/update gets released, this issue will disappear.

How many games get released early (so developers can get cash early and in just before Christmas) and we test it?

You should bring in your console to a TV retailer. HN, JB, GG etc and compare with their display models.

              Cheers

              • @vinni9284: I've seen other threads of people complaining about the same issue with God of War on PS4, so it definitely isn't restricted to game or platform.

Input lag isn't related to this issue in particular, unless you switch away from Game Mode to enable processing like TruMotion which 'fixes' the stutter/judder but does add a considerable amount of additional input lag.

Your suggestion to bring the console to a retailer is good advice, given that whether the 30FPS stutter/judder is an issue or not depends entirely on the user. I'd recommend any console owners reading this to do that before purchasing a current gen OLED.

                • @Feelsbad: Ok, i see.
I have my OLED connected to my PC gaming system so possibly it may not cause this issue.

The good thing about bringing your console is that you can test it on other TV's, as you have mentioned the QLED etc and see how they perform.
Furthermore, the consoles are portable and I'm very sure that the retailers won't mind and are happy to assist considering they may get a sale.

                  Cheers

    • Hmm red dead looks and runs amazing to me and its lacking a proper hdr

  • +1

Hmm hard to decide whether to bite and get a C8 - or wait for the C9 in feb/march…

    • if you want atmos for the netflix and others you need to wait for eARC not sure if C9 will have that

    • I doubt picture quality can get any much better than this, not worth the wait or price difference imo you'll get a few bells and whistles but this is an amazing price. I paied a little over 3400 i love this thing

    • If you are really patient, you could wait later next year (Dec) IMO when "proper" HDMI 2.1 gets released.
Now that will be a game changer!
      Cheers

      • Wait that long might as well wait for 8k ;)

        • Well, since you are mentioning 8K … Samsung has already released it in the US …. only for a measly US$15K :P

Edit: You can tell the difference in pixels re: 4K if you sit 3.5 cm away from the panel :-) lol

          https://www.samsung.com/us/explore/qled-8k-tv/

          Cheers

      • But that won't be in the 2019 tv's so have to wait for 2020 and then they'll go on special mid to late 2020.

  • +1

Hi all, I'm after a 75" oled/qled during boxing day sales. what's everyone's experience with LG/samsung/Panasonic/sony etc? no gaming, just Netflix and occasional blu ray. I know it's a personal call but any comments would be appreciated

    • +1

Just got LG 65C8 and a Panasonic 55FZ950 last month and here are my thoughts.
LG - easy to use OS. Vibrant colours. Limited integration with Alexa or google home.. LG is working on this (Alexa in Aus works. Home assistant not yet.. according to forums). Dolby vision and Atmos supported.
Panasonic - OS is very dated.. but usable. More accurate and realistic representation of colours. HDR10+ support. Alexa and google home supported (successfully hooked up with my google home)

Should add that I game occasionally with my Nintendo switch on both and it seems ok. Input lag on the Pana seems a bit noticeable even with dynamic mode on when I hooked it up to my laptop via HDMI. Haven’t hooked up my laptop to the LG yet..

Netflix and YouTube is fine on both. Works as you’d expect.

      • LG doesn't do HDR10+ ?

        • no. they have dolby vision instead.

    • If it's mostly for watching movies and shows I'd say go for the Panasonic. Like Sadkid wrote, it's got a more realistic picture. A bonus for a Netflix watcher such as yourself might be the dedicated Netflix button on the brushed metal remote. Just turn it on and hit 'Netflix'.
