  • Good deal. No contract as well.

    • Not as good as the last promo!!! The lite one was only $4.99

Edit: Knowledge base link for FAQ's. Most queries can be answered using this link. I remember trying to read 4 pages worth of replies during the last time they had a promo on, was hilarious but also time consuming. Cheers.

      http://www.liveconnected.me/index.php/support/faqs

  • 90c/min 35c flagfall!

    • yeah…and?

    • same with almost all cap plans give or take 10c

      • TPG has 30 second increments which should offer better value.

  • major downfall: 13, 1300, 1800 and international phone calls are not included in plans quota.

i still have my apollo plan which has these^^ numbers included :>

    • Wait does that mean you can't dial them at all or do they charge you extra? Coz that's how it works for all the other major providers. Those numbers are meant for landlines not mobiles.

      • 1 They charge you extra at 90c/min + flagfall if you call a 13/18 number.
2 Not all providers do it this way, there are plenty of caps where 13/18 numbers are included.

I joined the last promo when Medium was $10.99. Less than two weeks after activation I changed to another service provider. The main issue was the network, it was really slow everywhere I went.. I could not load webpages most of the time and when it did work it was sporadic. I know they are on the Optus network but for some reason it didn't feel like so. I've been with optus and another service using optus network and both are fast.

    • it might be your phone…apparently optus' 2g network is VERY unreliable these days. so if your phone doesnt have 3g, either way you wont get the speed as 2g for optus' is patchy

      in vic anyway

      • I have a Galaxy s and Desire. I'm sure the apn and all other settings were fine as well. I'm in sydney so coverage wasn't an issue.

Good thing about the LiveConnected plan is it's cheap and there is no contract so not much trouble changing if you don't like it.

    • never had an issue. LiveConnected has been awesome

    • Ive never had an issue too. Their email replies were pretty quick too. Network coverage great too, same as when I was with Optus Prepaid.

Yea great deal, but as has been said, not as good as the last promo. The one similar to the one listed in the title was only $11/month, with $10 extra cred to "anyone".

I joined them during that time and it's been great. No problems whatsoever as yet. Email replies are quite quick.

The negatives that other people will mention (so maybe I should mention them first before we get 10 people repeating all the bad points from the last post):
    - No call centre, all support is via email
    - Must do credit check, and hence international students unable to register
    - 13/1300/1800 numbers not included as part of the credit - about this, I'm gonna guess that this won't be an issue for 80% of the people, so this really is not a "major downfall"
    - Usage meter has a "lag" of 24-48 hours
    - No BPay
    - Excess data charge quite high

Despite the negatives listed above, I think this is great value for money. For the average user, you don't need to call for support that regularly anyway. Besides, now you save money by not having to call a call centre for customer service ;)
Usage meter lag is normal for all optus resellers, and as I was with TPG prior to Live Connected, the usage meter operates in a very similar way (except Live Connected's usage meter is actually quite clear and useful - many sorting options).

  • Just checked my usage meter after seeing this post and I found something strange…
Apparently I've used $1.12 for something not in my cap.

    Surepage Message $1.12 inc

Could someone tell me what this is?
Has anyone gotten the same charge?

Might have to test their customer support considering I haven't even taken the SIM card out of the plastic holder yet.

    • msg them. THis is an error, acknowledged on their facebook/twitter page. They will remove it. It happened to me too.

    • Yeah I had this too, open up a case and let them know and they will sort it out.

I jumped on during LC's last batch of offers (the $4.99 deal), and although I've have a few minor teething problems - mainly borne out of confusion from that surepage charge -, I'm really happy I signed up. Great value for money, my coverage has been significantly better than with Three and I haven't really found the lack of a call centre a hindrance at all.

They are promoting pretty hard recently though and I noticed they have a lot less plans I offer. Hope they aren't struggling to make ends meet or anything, don't want them going under just after I made the switch!

    $15.00 a month. $790 worth of Calls + 1GB Data.

Try $390 worth of calls. Bonus credit to a service provider next to no-one uses doesn't exactly count

    • lol $400 is the credit to call other liveconnected users not to the service provider…LOOL

      • +1

        facepalm

He said bonus credit to a service provider nobody uses doesn't count, i.e. he is saying credit to other LC users is pretty much worthless.

It depends on your situation though. If you sign up a family member or two, the bonus credit is certainly useful. Personally, for me, yeah the credit to LC doesn't really count because I don't know anybody else with them.
At the end of the day though, it is still $790 worth of calls. Worthy you make use of them is another matter entirely.

        • +1

Its great for me and the Mrs (both on LC), $400 worth of credit to other LC users a month basically means we call each other free of charge any time of the day or night (Im a shift worker).

        • yea "depends on your situation"…LOL..well i am trying hard to convert my family and friends:P because it has no contract and its cheaper than optus 49cap, i dont understand WHY is this such a bad deal for others to take up…

i guess its the brand that counts, just like a t-shirt cost you 5bucks with a nike logo on it it will cost you 20more? given that quality is the same.

What's the point of joining this deal, when they made a much better deal a few weeks ago??? Deals for the same thing should be getting better with time, not worse.

    • Because that was limited time special pricing from their wholesaler (Optus).

But I agree, LiveConnected change their plans way to often.

  • Bring back the old deal and I will join!

  • Question: I have Optus Freetime. If I was to sign up my family on this does this mean I can call them for free between designated time of 8pm-12midnight. Does this also work for TPG / Virgin / any on Optus Network?

    • For optus freetime (on apollo plan) yes.. I used to have that plan before switching to Telstra, and I called all those people for free :)

  • +1

I had two numbers with them, but ported both out to a different provider. They are good if NOTHING goes wrong, but if something does go wrong, good luck. I had to take them to the TIO to have the issue rectified. Would never use them again, period.

  • I also signed up when the deal was $11.99 a month or so ago. The churn time is about 6-7 business days, mine was 6 business days from the time of order to a working new sim card.

Data speeds are faster using LiveConnected than my Vodafone and Virgin prepaid sims before, was very surprised. (I am in metro Sydney). Youtube is not buffering anymore which is good to see, Nine News app does full video streaming, no lag or hiccups like I used to have with Voda and Virgin.

Usage meter has up to 48hrs delay, not the speediest to update but within industry average. They are trying to reduce the usage update time as much as possible which is good to see. They also email you once you have reached a certain percentage of your caps just to let you know, also good to have.

Ummm, what else, oh I signed up a few of my friends and family members on the last deal and now the additional $400 cap to LiveConnected members has become very handy.

    • You mean $10.99? I signed up for the same.

A few days ago my usage/call records had not been updated for 4-5 days. I hope that was a once off occurance, otherwise I will not be happy.

What do you mean by churn time? You mean time from of ordering the SIM until porting/activation is complete? Well, yes, mine took 6 business days as well, about 3-4 business days from receipt of the SIM card. That is far too long to be acceptable. Porting a number should take no longer than 1-2 business days, often porting is completed in a matter of hours or even much less.

    • guess the churn time is different for everyone
I ordered on the 20th of March
      Everything working from the 23rd!

  • i am already with liveconnected, on an endeavor plan. just wondering how i go about changing my plan?

  • They don't make it easy to find the cost of 13/1300/1800 numbers. If twenty minutes or so of these calls per month adds up to less than $20, I'm sold on the $29 plan. Does anyone know where to find the rates on their website?

    • My guess is that it might be the same cost as standard voice calls, except it'll be charged as excess. If you call those numbers often, then perhaps this plan isnt for you.

  • +1

I joined on the last promo and quite happy with the service so far. It feels no different to my TPG plan expect I'm getting double the calls and 4x the data for the same price.

TPG's customer service is great though - you can call them and you have a powerful user facilities but for day to day stuff they are practically identical. LiveConnected communicate well through e-mail and the bills are generated in a slightly confusing, but comprehensive PDF.

So while this may not be as good as last month's deal, it's still solid and better than what the competition offer.

Sure - no 1800/1300 which is standard with these value providers. Websites like http://www.e164.org/non-search.php help with turning 1300 numbers into local ones. So I can still use services like 131500 without paying anything out of my cap for it.

It's still early days but I'll give them a thumbs up so far.

EDIT: Actually, the only complaint is usage meter is delayed by a few days. Today's the 10th and my latest usage is from the 6th, so a little hard to keep track of what you're spending if you're a heavy user. I'll never go near the cap (without knowing it) so this is no deal breaker.

And those concerned about data - I ran a speedtest and pulled 260KB/s (~2Mb/s) in an area with strong reception. In another area which was far more congested I got anywhere between 40KB/s and 80KB/s, still quite acceptable. No slower than TPG who are also with Optus, and much better than Voda/3.

    • Yeah so much for the LC rep in the last deal promising data usage/call records will be updated within 48 hrs. I was in the same boat a few days ago, my records weren't updated for 4-5 days.

LiveConnected will just pass the buck and say its a problem with Optus, not them.

EDIT: Actually just checked my records and usage hasn't been updated for nearly 4 days—not happy!

    • Mine also says latest usage is from the 6th! today is the 11th???
not sure why its taking so long to update but hope its a one off thing.
      will email them.

  • I'm with TPG and i joined my dad to LC and from my experience its horses for course. Join LC if you want thrift, and you can handle all the downsides mentioned above. Thats my recommendation. if you require assistance of any kind, expect much from a provide i'd suggest steer away from LC.

  • Come back with the old plan, would be joining for sure!

  • Ive been with LC since last July and initially had some billing issues but that was rectified, since than its been great.
Only pay $12 per month for $400 worth of calls and 1gb data… I've never been over the limit either.

They dont have phone support but are very quick at responding to email requests.
I rather online support than phone anyways but each to their own.

If they bring back the old plan ill sign up.

This one is $20 sim fee delivery + $4 extra per month + $10 less credit.

    • +1

Agree. They change their plans and terms far too often. The last deal the $20 deposit was refundable, not this time.

      • You'd think that over time plans get cheaper and better…

    • +4

dont know why you neg this. this is a drop of EVERYDAY PRICE. the one 2 weeks ago was a promotion.

web support can't be much worse than talking to an Indian or Philipino call centre

    • "Filipino" mate; your language skills are on par with them.
