[PRICE ERROR] PS4 Pro 1TB $365 @ Target

1270

Speaks for itself, PS4 Pro at the lowest price I can recall. Great last minute Christmas idea!

Sorry everyone, after spending a lot of time at the service counter head office eventually confirmed they won't honour this and it is indeed a price error. Christmas is ruined :(

  • Insane!
    Seems to be store only

  • +2

If legit, how the heck has this gone two days without Ozbargain noticing? It’s still $479 on Targets website though? Deal will probably get blindly upvoted, but it doesn’t appear to be legit/nation wide.

    • +1

Place I'm at (Mill Park) have sold out. I'm investigating with the staff here to confirm.

  • +1

The website says that the PS4 1TB Slim Console is $365 and the Pro is $479 hm.

    • +2

      This sounds like the case.
The Pro was priced at 1TB slim by mistake, likely store specific.

  • Holy shit, this is a really good price right?

  • +3

Might be labelled incorrectly - 1TB slim is $365 on the site. Great buy otherwise!

      • +10

They don't have to give anything for free.

      • +1

I always though that's only for self checkout at woolies

        • +1

they argue about it, and cause a shitstorm anyway..

        • +3

I think this is what is being referred to (this is IGA's but they all have very similar - basically you are not getting your $200 item for free) its not just for self checkout. Its something that was brought in when barcode scanning was first becoming "a thing" and people were concerned about errors in computerised scanning vs a human typing in each price.

          Grocers Scanning Code of PRACTICE.
          Policies for Scanning Errors

          4.1 The Item Free Policy
Where a customer makes a valid claim that an item has scanned at a higher price than the shelf price, the following shall apply:
          (a) If the shelf price of the item is $20 or less, the customer will be entitled to the item free of charge; or
          (b) if the shelf price of the item is higher than $20, the customer will be entitled to purchase the item at the shelf price, with a discount of $20.

      • +6

Oh you’re one of those people

      • +3

You mean the Scanning Code of Practice that some supermarkets subscribe to?

Last time I checked, Target isn't a supermarket and doesn't subscribe to the voluntary code of practice. Good luck though.

      • +2

This is not the case as many seem to think. This is purely an agreement the supermarkets have entered into. There is nothing legally binding.

Other business that are not a supermarket did not enter this agreement.

The bottom line is, it is not the law to give it to you for free, it is just an act of good will.

  • +1

Exact price of the PS4 1TB slim so unless there is a receipt to back it up I reckon it is an advertising error.

    • yeah without a (target.com.au) online store link of that price / physical catalogue of that price, price matching will be almost impossible

  • I called up in my local target they said the pro is $479.

  • Went to Target in Sydney yesterday and the price was more than 450$ :\

  • Pricing error or not, the picture does show a pro with big $365 on it.

I'm still waiting for discount on a controller thought!.

  • Obviously price error by employee in one store or I'm heading down to get one now to add to the stuff I buy because of OzBargain but never use more than once or if at all.

    Amazon price match in 3..2..1

  • +27

After 30 minutes of speaking with staff, managers and head office, this is indeed a pricing error.

Sorry everyone. Should have waited instead of getting overly excited. :(

    • +28

dont be sorry, you did the right thing by putting it up here,

you are providing others the chance to possibly score a bargain, no matter how unlikely it may be

      • -1

Nah they never honour original price. Tried to get Crash for $39 last year when they had a catalogue error but they didn't care

      • I think legally if its priced wrong instore they can refuse to sell it and take all the products off the shelf and not sell then for 4 days or something like that ?

        • +1

Prices listed in stores are “invitation to treat” no obligation to sell at that price. Contract is completed upon transaction.

    • +1

Shhhhhh shouldn't have said anything until after Amazon price matched :p, kidding! Was worth the try, cheers for the post.

    • Did they offer you one at that price as good will or was it a case of 'tough luck'?

    • Never be sorry when you are trying to help us out. :)

  • -8

I called them and spoke to one of the guys there and he said it was in fact the correct price they just don’t have stock

    • +4

I can't handle conflicting reports giving me hope

      • I haven't seen a positive report yet

  • -5

    wow RUDE!!

  • devastated

    • +7

goodwill towards people who would have never bought items at a reasonable price is wasted effort.

  • Holy crap this makes me sad for people hanging out for a PS4 bargain. It’s insane that this is a price error considering Harvey Norman was selling the PS4 Pro with GT sport for $419 an entire year ago. And the console itself worked out to $360 because back then GT sport was selling for $60 on ebay. AND you could combine it with a $100 amex cashback which brought the console down to $260.

    • wont see that happy again i guess until the new generation comes out.

    • Keep in mind that the Australian dollar is getting hammered at the moment:

      https://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=AUD&to=USD&view=2Y

      • True, but SSDs, graphics cards and CPUs have all dropped in price significantly in that time. Also the PS4 is now about 30% closer to being replaced with the ps5 (assuming late 2020 release).

        • All true, too. 😀 But then you need to look at skyrocketing air/sea/land freight costs, increased working capital costs, inflation etc

    • maybe it is just cause I'm yet to jump on the 4k band wagon but I think the PS4 Slims going for around $250 recently is about the best bargain anyone ever gonna get. Never saw the appeal of the pro, I was interested when i thought pro optimizations would mean or at least give an option of 1080p at 60fps but probs because it's easier to market "4k UHD", higher resolution seems all they are interested in.

Literally got the last 6 at my local store. Saw another guy with his kid behind me talking about it, laughed at them as I pushed my trolley out of the store.

    • +8

      Now that’s some a-grade Brodening

    • +1

What u doing with 6 of em?

      • +9

Calculating nuclear launch codes. Needs seven PS4 Pros to actually launch. Jack Bauer is now tracking.

        • +1

off topic, but it really p!$$ed me off in the movie, "CHAPPIE", (a Sony financed film), there is a scene where they have gotten a whole bunch of PS4's and made made cluster to do some heavy duty hacking stuff. It bugged me because you used to actually be able to do that with the PS3 until Sony retroactively removed the ability to install linux…

          • @jonathonsunshine: No, that scene pissed me off because there's not enough hardware power in that cluster to do what was happening:
            Cloning a human consciousness.

      • +4

Clearly the same thing he did with the PS3s … it's what made him! Livin' the high lyfe!

        • +2

He bought ten back then and now only 6? What a loser.

      • +2

Make heaps of money reselling them

    • why is your nose growing longer?

    • +5

      Name checks out…

    • +1

One newby person didnt get the reference/joke.

  • -7

Crikey, $365 is a bargain for a 2 year old console, a spec bump from a 2013 series device?

New generations of consoles happen roughly every 6-7 years, so save your money and buy a PS5 for Xmas '19!

    • +2

And miss out all the great games?

    • +5

Damn, why the hell do I buy anything then with that logic?

    • nah man, don't waste your time not buying a ps4, you should be not buying a RTX series graphics card instead and wait for 7nm cards coming from AMD next year!

  • -1

Move to forums? I don't believe anyone achieved this price.

  • -1

    Thanks OP Mod: Edited

    • Pic, or it didn't happen.

      • -5

Got 4. should be able to get $400 each on gumtree?

      • +2

What's the point? This was luck more than anything. Other Target managers have refused to sell at this price. Just wanted to thank OP for putting in the effort to notify everyone about the deal. I'd imagine such a post would bring more stress to the holiday workers given how persistent others have been in the past despite refusal already being uttered. Give those guys a break and wait for another deal.

        • +2

The point is your 'got one' comments reeks of bullshit, and this isnt the first time

          • -2

@payton: This isn't the first time?

I see what you mean by "got one". Looking over it again, it doesn't sound very classy. Well if it makes you feel better, I'll report my own post and get a mod to change it to "Thanks OP"

            • -1

@Julius: TBH, if you want to be Broden III thats your call, but to play dumb when called out, thats taking it a step 2 far

              Anyway!

              • +1

@payton: Calling someone Broden implies that I prevented others from attaining the same deal for profit. Buying one isn't enough to become Broden and I don't plan to sell?

Just enjoy your weekends everyone. Life is too short.

Back OT, anyways, thanks OP for letting us know.

  • +2

I paid $360 for the PS4 Pro including shipping in the Amazon boxing day sale last year. Maybe they'll repeat it this year

    • +1

If Amazon do it again this Boxing I'll bite - purely just to potentially squeeze a little more out of my PSVR in games where the extra power may make a difference.

  • Would have bought a second one…

    • yeah that would have been the smart thing to do!

  • +1

    Have a Merry Christmas OP!

  • -1

Paid $200 for mine after selling the fortnite code at its peak

  • Went to Target, only to be disapoointed

  • +2

So did anyone get it at this price?

  • Indeed, Christmas is absolutely ruined. 😢😢😢

  • Target of disappointing Christmas

When will you redeem your tarnished self??

    Boooooo……

  • Traded in my first gen PS4 + $300 for the Pro on release day couple of years ago. The best thing was my old PS4 was ejecting blu ray discs at random by that time. Had to be one of the best deals I ever made

    • Nice. You'll probably get a good trade in for the Pro on PS5 release day also!

  • +6

target ballarat honored the price :D

    • im catching the vline train to ballarat

    • +7

This is the only way they can get people to visit Ballarat

    • +1

I rang the Ballarat store and they checked all the ps4 pro sales for yesterday and claim that none went trough for $365 :( Any chance you can share the receipt?

      • Don't believe everything you read on ozb

    • I went to the store and showed them the $365 pic and said someone got a price match yesterday. They basically said it never happened and would not play ball. :(

      • +1

Very common for OzBargainers to lie about getting price error deals to make themselves feel special. There are several people who do this all the time.

        • That is so lame

  • -3

This is a poster not a ticketed price…

  • +2

Anybody who bought the Amazon deal with free Spiderman recently would have paid about the equivalent of $367 for the PS4 Pro after cash back (and $31 for Spiderman). That was delivered and not even a price error.

I managed to upgrade my original PS4 to the Pro for about $60 after selling the old one too.

  • Would buying a PS4 on a price protection credit card work? Or would they need a receipt?

    • You are trying to use a price error to claim price protection on your credit card? Isn't that a fraud?
