Going in Store Vs Buying Online for Boxing Day

Is there any benefit of going in store on Boxing day? Are the prices in store same as online? I am mostly talking about stores like JB HI FI, Harvey Norman, Good Guys, Bing Lee or electronic stores.
Any comments / feedback please.

Seeing as prices are the same as any other "sale" throughout the year, there's no reason I would want to be amongst the hordes of people thinking that they are somehow getting more of a bargain than at any other time of year.

    Hence I would choose online.

Along with the hassle of dealing with the crowds, getting a park which adds literally hours to shopping in store.

  • If you go in store you might get to see some argy-bargy type boxing.

  • In store you can negotiate for cash, online you don’t really have that same opportunity though the chance to avoid the crowds is certainly an advantage!

if they are busy you will get nowhere with trying to barter anything.

      • Sometimes online can use special Codes too!

    • No chance on boxing day. It's busy, things are already discounted and stock levels are likely to be low.

  • +2

In store they can do sales on a few leftover items or floorstock specific to a store. Not so likely online.

In store you have to fight with the hundreds of other people who want to park, you'll end up getting road rage and drive home in a fuss. On the way home, you'll get a speeding ticket

    • Talking from past experiences ??

      • Nope, I avoid the boxing day "sales" like the plague. In fact, I always try to finish all my Christmas shopping by early December to avoid the crowds

        • Yeah I know what you mean. Only non professional Ozbargainers shop boxing day.

    • If you get in early the carparks are practically empty. Whenever I do decide to go I just get there at opening time and leave by 10-11am before it's at it's worst.

The only advantage I can see is that you have whatever you are trying to purchase in your grubby mitts. Given the "order cancelled" problem some people have had ordering online, this is a tangible benefit.

The only store you need to go to is OzBargain.

in store for sure, will be in line by noon today to be one of the first in. Family hate me leaving christmas cekebrations so early ("before they even start") but it has been worth it.

    • what store you are planning to go to

  • Personally I've never really gotten that great of a deal in-store for tech. Sometimes you might get lucky and snag some clearance item.
