[PS4, XB1] Starlink: Battle for Atlas Starter Kit $36 @ EB Games

70

This is my very 1st post

I saw this deal at Campbelltown EB games. Whole bunch of them on a display table all with the sticker tag $36.00

The staff member processed the item through but it came up at $57.00. I then explained to her about the display table and she happily reduced the price to $36.00.

Also picked up L.A. Noire for $28.00 at EB games. I was shocked too usually stuff is overpriced but today it was a win win.

Could be a store special - call the store as the website link doesn't say $36.00

Link to XB1 Version

Mod Note: OP was able to get the Nintendo Switch version for $36 due to a price error at the store. The Nintendo Switch version is still listed at $57 on the EB Games Site.

This is part of Boxing Day Sales for 2018

Pretty sure if you buy the starter pack you have to then buy all the additional ships ($25 each), pilots ($6 each) and weapons ($10 each) separately either physical in-store or on the PS Store which will cost quite a bit.

Alternatively the game is on sale on the PS Store and includes a lot more stuff.

It’s possible to platinum the game with just the starter pack.

For 2 player local co-op trophies/achievements, the 2nd player gets a “digital” copy of a ship and pilot, so no other purchases are necessary unless you want different ships/pilots/abilities.

Incorrect. I finished the game on the starter pack with no problem. Even in the end game content, you still don’t require any more add on kits.

The only benefit to buying everything else is to give you more to finish off. I bought an extra ship and some other weapons for no other reason then I just wanted to try them out, but they are by no means a “have to buy”.

And for the record, (I play on Xbox) the starter kit doesn’t seem to need to be clipped onto the base or synced once a week, but the add on parts I bought do and give you a timer countdown when you are close to having to re-sync them

      • I'm sorry I probably should have worded that better. I don't mean that it is necessary to buy the extra content to be able to finish the game or even enjoy it. What I meant was if you do want to experiment and play with everything that the game has to offer it's going to cost you a lot.

Ps4/xb1: buy starter + nadir ship pack + neptune ship pack

Switch: buy starter + nadir ship pack

      Why:
Ships = lives before checkpoint restart. One is frustrating due to occasional cheap deaths. Two ok. Three easy. Switch version gets everything the other versions have plus bonus arwing ship, so buy one less ship pack.

Not having a gravity weapon is frustrating as you'll feel like unlocking some warden shrines that will need it.

Levitation weapon is needed for some shrines but fairly late in the game at which point you probably won't care anymore about unlocking them. So unless you want the ship for an extra life (ps4/xb1) don't bother.

Eli and kharl are needed for all the command centre upgrades but the only upgrades from them are really a waste of time anyway. So don't get them.

You get character skill points by gaining xp with ships and weapons. The weapons and ships don't actually get better, you just get skill points. Three ships and four weapons will max out your character. But weapons level up faster than ships if you want to do it quicker get six maybe eight weapons (really though, I wouldn't bother).

Every character has a passive skill that applies to all characters once the skill is learnt. So having all characters is better but probably totally unbalanced and not worthwhile. And you won't level them all until post-campaign by which time you'll be bored.

All other ships and weapon packs can be skipped.

Plus I like Shaid (nadirs pilot) more than the default mason or star fox.

  • Is the game any good?

    • Yes.

    • Yes. Addictive but kinda simple. In and out of it within a week. Recommended though.

  • PS4 and Xbox versions are $34 at JB Hifi… Switch is $119

  • Digital complete version $68 after 10% off Nintendo gift cards at jb plus gold coins for tiny discount on next eshop purchase.

Physical and reselling still a good option though. As per my above post, you don't need that much of the gear.

    • Digital Deluxe AU$56/57 (US $39.99) on the US store, and no markup buying store credit from Play Asia… or discounted buying $50 credit through PayPal.
