I was searching for a TV Head Set Recently. While I was on the hunt, I got to know about these guys through ozbargain and checked out their booth at QVB.

Apart from the weird tubes that go inside your ears (just like some in ear phones, but softer), this one beats my QC35 II by a mile in all aspects (including ANC). Awesome bass and good for music.

Note: I have locked my eyes on RS185 though. They are awesome for TV.

  • Do they still have the booth at QVB?

    • Yes. Until the new year apparently

    • Do they have a pop up in Melbourne?

      • Yes I bought mine at their pop up in Melbourne Central. It's just across the gong cha when you go up the stairs.

Have owned for months, sits on the shelf vs. my QC2.

    • in-ear is one size fits all, meaning it doesn’t.. As the in-ear comes fitted in the headphone cup, you can’t adjust it compared to normal in-eats. My right ear continues to slip out. QC2s win here - perfectly adjustable, This is why manufacturers do not do an in-ear plus cup.

    • QC2s takes a second to take on/off vs. careful removal and insertion of nura (if you ever take your headphones on/off multiple times in a session then these will frustrate the heck out of you).

    • You can’t do any vigorous movements: no walking or tilting your head as it will slip out, certainly no jogging. QC2s are fine for moderate activity.

    • The cables are some proprietary/non-standard - this includes both the charging AND audio input (3.5mm, USB-C, Lightning). If you lose them you’re screwed which is why I don’t take them out of the apartment.

    • Nura refuse to openly share your hearing profile in a format that you can use to adjust your equaliser profile on other gear (home theatre, car audio, etc).. it undermines the whole reason you’d get this which is to learn more about your unique hearing. Being locked into an ecosystem with one device that I’m not a fan of doesn’t excite me.

    • nura have never to my knowledge shared the equipment specs of their headphones vs. readable and translatable publishers specs by Bose, Sennheiser, Sony etc. sorry but how does their research and manufacturing solve the hard problem of performance equipment?

Have owned for just over a month now, I researched these extensively in depth because ~$400 was a huge outlay for me when i got them (a month back). I can definitely agree with some of the things you've mentioned, but do have some disagreements too.

      I agree that

      • The cables seem to be a major gripe, and i agree with this. I wish Nura had just stuck with USB C like most other manufacturers.

      • nura's on/off mechanism is auto, which in my experience takes anywhere between 2-3 seconds to get back to playing. This could potentially be frustrating for some, but never has been an issue for me.

      • I see where you're coming from with the readable translatable publisher specs, however i should mention Nura's got a patent for their technology. It explains how their technology works, what is and isn't manipulated. I remember reading through it before I decided to go with the purchase. I can't be certain, but pretty sure everything is on there. I've compared my sound profile to other people's and it's a subtle yet a world of difference.

The biggest gripe I have with these, is the carrying case these come with. They aren't fold-able like the sony's and bose of today, which to me is ridiculous because it severely limits their carrying capacity. I don't use the case they provided. I just chuck em into a beanie as a makeshift bag cause the case they come with is just hideous. Too Bulky, completely impractical

      That being said,

      • In ear size is most definitely not one size fits all, the headphones come with different eartips and the 3 different variants provided will fit 99% of people. It's really unfortunate if this isn't the case with you. I think initially maybe when you purchased, nura wasn't providing the ear tips then (this is a young company), I suggest you reach out to them asap, and they will be more than happy to provide you with the tips. I've seen others on Reddit mention that their customer service has been fantastic apparently.

      • You can most definitely walk, tilt your head, these will not slip out (provided you've got the right eartips in) Infact I went on a walk with them just yesterday. Jogging is something I wouldn't do with them though. can be frustrating because the headphones sit very lightly on your ear (something to do with the cooling that they have for the ear cups).

You'll notice that with some over ear headphones etc it can sometimes get pretty hot with them on, these don't get hot at all. The reason being some kind of cooling tech they have that allows airflow within the earcups. Makes a difference in my opinion.

I personally feel that these blow the QC35 out of the water in terms of audio quality. In addition to the custom hearing profile, the bass is absolutely phenomenal. The ability to manipulate it via the app to my liking is something I go crazy over, especially when i'm listening to different genres of music. The build quality of the headphones is great, definitely a premium feel to it all round.

The ANC is not nearly the level given by QC35 which are primarily marketed as ANC headphones, whereas these have a completely different primary purpose with the added feature of ANC. However with the in-ear + over-ear tech, you get a bunch of passive noise cancelling, so can't complain. ANC + that, great stuff.

All in all do I feel justified with my purchase? It took a little while to get used to the odd sensation of in-ear + over, but once I got over that hurdle, I've been really happy with these over my old pair of bose soundlink 2. I would just change the case + proprietary cable though.

Did some extensive research online, seems promising.

    Grabbed a pair. Fingers crossed.

    • Give them patience because the initial ear bud feeling does take time. And the silicone softens over time to eventually fit nice and cosy.

That being said nura is very good about their 30 day guarantee so you've always got that too :)

      • Thanks. Just received them today. Not too happy; was expecting my mind to be blown but it feels like just another Equaliser setting. I should try more Flac.
