  • Why not just sell the camera with an 18-300? No one wants to walk around with 2 lenses at this price range.

    • i have an 18-135 lens on my nikon , the cost over an 18-55 is significant at the entry level market , and some people want the 300mm. an 18-300 would be very bulky and expensive, cost more than the camera.

the 18-135 does most of what i need, i do have a 70-300 that i have never used.

    • Because the 18-300mm is about $1000 on its own

      • down to $600 amazon deal for lens alone… makes the D3500 bundle look good for those getting started, or get a 18-55 bundle and grab a 18-135 or 18-140 for $350.

One of out setups, we got body only for a D3300 as we had 18-55 from upgrading an D5500 to a 18-135.

It's a family thing …like holden and ford, we went nikon so we can swap and hand down stuff.

Guess some go Canon hence ford vs holden comparison …both canon and nikon take great pictures, but you eventually get lock economic lock in as you get more lenses and flashes.

    • I should ha e clarified that I bought the 18-300 when teds had 20% off on ebay. Yes it costs 3 times more than my D3300 but the minimal extra weight is worth not having to stuff about swapping lenses and I can zoom for ages.

Maybe they could just have an 18-200 because I reckon the 70-300 just isn't used by 90% of the people who buy the kit.

      • I don't use my 70-300 …. use my 18-105 and crop picture later as it's too much hassle to swap for a few photos when on the move.

  • The lens included are not VR lens. There is no vibration reduction. Please correct me if I am wrong.

    • +1

      your corrected…they are both VR

  • What's the difference between this and the canon 200d? I'm guessing the Nikon has better autofocus for fast action?

    • nikon seem top release more features 12 mths earlier for same $$ than canon … used to be canon fanboi, still have my canon gear, went nikon eventually as I for more for same money 12 mths earlier than canon.

You need to look at trends as eventually you buy more lenses and upgrade cameras you want to be able to get best cameras per $ when upgrading and keep lenses (investment)once you start buying good zooms. Now I just look for body only deals as I have 4 nikon lenses.

  • The 70-300mm lens that comes in the deal is around $250 not $1000. That's a different version. As for the Canon 200D it has better auto focus, an articulated display, touch screen, mic jack and is great for videos. To me D3500 is behind it's time …

200D is on sale on Amazon for $501 https://www.amazon.com.au/Canon-EOS-200D-18-55mm-Digital/dp/…
