LG G6 64GB H870DS (AU Stock) + Bonus 30-Day 20GB SIM $449 Delivered @ Kogan

This deal is back. Was quite popular last time round.

I wouldn’t bank on this handset getting Android Pie anytime soon but for these specs and the fact it's dual SIM and AUS Stock, it's hard to ignore.

I bought this phone 18 months ago for $479 from ebay. Good phone but outdated and laggy recently

    • Some lucky people got it even earlier than that for around $440. Definitely the value king of 2017.

Definitely the better choice than a OnePlus 3, OnePlus 5t, Pixel XL. The Nokia 7 Plus wasn't launched yet. It was a shame the ZTE Axon7 didn't come to the land of Oz in its hayday, and when it did come it wasn't ~AU$500 as anticipated but rather ~AU$800 which killed it for most.

In case people are wondering, the QSD 820 and QSD 821 chipsets, perform anywhere from below the QSD 660 and above QSD 710 chips. However, 2019 should bring in new midrange chips that should smoke it.

PS, this is the (superior) Dual-SIM version which has the bootloader locked. That means no r00t access, and no Custom Software (drivers, kernel, rom, mods, etc).

      • edit: This phone is the "LG G6 ThinQ" fyi. It has all the AI stuff from the V40 included, mainly the Camera and Google Assistant. And on start-up you will see the ThinQ moniker.

Overall, I don't see much difference let alone improvements. Though some of the commenters can now be at ease. Treat this as a current day midrange: decent OS, decent speed, decent battery life, decent cameras…not as good as current day flagship.

  • Been using this phone since January of this year. Overall a good phone but if you're a heavy user, take note that the batt life is far from ideal. You might consider bringing a power bank along.

Also my unit — just like others — have started throwing the dreaded "moisture has been detected on the usb charging port". Kinda funny that sometimes flipping the usb cable does the trick.

    • Try cleaning your charging port with a toothpick, this did the trick for me and the issue doesnt happen anymore.

  • I don't think it's a great deal. I bought the same phone 10 months ago from catch.com for 400$

Have had this phone 18 months, fingerprint reader is starting to work intermittently, seems like the connection is bad as sometimes it reads and other times it just says there isn't a fingerprint reader at all. Battery life is also woeful and has been from about 6 months in. Have also had the sim tray break within the phone. All documented issues.

    • Recently encountered the issue with the sim tray breaking inside the phone and it's still stuck in there. fortunately it's got a second sim slot where the SD card reader is which allows me to still have a sim card in the phone, but flip side no sd card now.

  • You guys have put me off buying, Question is, What to buy at a similar price? The nokia 7 Plus at JB?

    • I got the Nokia 8 and loving it, had no issues with the camera and build is top notch
