First time poster. Had been looking for a decent deal on a front loader for quite some time. Found the Haier HWF85BW1 Haier 8.5kg Front Loader from Bing Lee for $399. JB HiFi has it listed for $496. Purchased from Bing Lee Hurstville. They had the stock transferred from their Central Warehouse (at no additional cost) as they didn't have stock in store. Their website is now showing "Available to Order" as it seems to be a popular item so you may have to contact your local store and check what the options are.

2 years manufacturers warranty which is not bad for the asking price. Check whether your credit card provides any complimentary extended warranty.

  • Great deal! wonder if JB would price match this? Anyone have any experience using Bing Lee against JB to price match?

    • I tried recently for Samsung TV and JB guys said no (on phone, not sure what they would do if you walkin into store).
Nonetheless, Harvey Norman happily price matched.

  • I’ve never had a front loader, always a top loader.

Any advantages and disadvantages of one over the other?

I recently changed from a top loader to a front loader and will never go back.
The top loader seemed to often spin out of balance. Never have that issue with a front loader. Front loader is more robust and less aggressive on clothes.

      • Thanks for you reply.

Front loaders are heavier because they have weights inside so you need two people to carry it or just get it delivered. They are more efficient with water because it doesnt need to fill the whole drum and possibly more efficient with electricity. Front loaders can also be more gentle with your clothes!

Yep. Lower water consumption (and therefore less power for heating said water) and gentler on garments. Only major drawback is once the door is locked amd the cycle started, you can’t just open up and muck about with it. Its locked until it finishes spinning/draining.

  • Nice find - I needed a cheap washing machine and this one takes the cake!

  • Just remember to clean the door seal often and follow the routine maintenance schedule 😁
