  • Yeah this is not a gaming pc

id honestly go for the i5 model for less than 1000.

      And dishonestly?

Top spec i3 6xxxu gaming beast for $2k

    • Same.
Cheaper, runs cooler, longer battery and no discernible performance difference for what one of these laptops would be used for.

  • 2 in 1's were all 20% off a couple of times before xmas at JB. So this was selling for $1359.20. And using vouchers for JB from racq that are 4% off it came down to $1304.83.

You can do a lot better than 4% off JB gift cards.
(The recent eBay deal allowed you 15% off for example)

  • Anyone used these before?

    • I bought it yesterday. First impression is it's looking good and fast. Too early to comment about battery life. Only complaint at this point is its bit on the heavy side. At the moment I am very happy with it.

    • I got one of these for my mother to replace her aging iPad and laptop. Was only i5 and ssd but she loves it. Watches Netflix in tablet mode, does work in laptop mode. Only thing is as a tablet it is big and heavy. Battery life is ok, does spend a lot of time on the desk plugged in and watching videos does suck through a battery.
I would probably get something similar for myself.

    • I have an Acer Spin - would highly recommend. Lasts a long time (9-10 hrs battery life?) from Chrome to Netflix. You don't need an i7 8th Gen though and by the time you do, the rest of the machine will be outdated.

Salesperson reduced the price to $1431 after bargaining,

They took about 4.5% off the price ($60). At that point I would've said see ya later and walked out.

You know how much markup they have on these? Could've comfortably taken off $200 and still bagged a good profit.

Sorry, but I don't think you got a good deal.

    • Note that it's already on sale, $200 off

"Sale" - so if increase the price to $5000 and then drop it to $1500 (that's a $3500 saving!) that's a good buy?
Who are their real competitors? HN has laughable resale prices. Amazon don't deliver much laptops to Australia. Good Guys/Bing Lee? Their range is much smaller. eBay? Well that's a risk not actually seeing it physically/testing it before purchase.

Btw I think it's a really weird setup. Massively fast and new i7 8th core with 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD and 2GB GRAPHICS.

What could you possibly be using a 2-in-1 for that you need that much processing power but relatively low storage, ram and GPU?

I don't mean to grill you, but I'm curious.
