Kitchen Bar Stools $40 (Pack of 2) @ Bunnings

860

First Post - Go Easy!

Black & Chrome adjustable indoor bar stools at a much cheaper price than I have seen anywhere else.

I paid $50 for mine 2 weeks ago, and am not sure how much they were originally but some online stores are selling them for $89.95 down from 'RRP $349' (!). + Delivery fee as well which for me in Adelaide would be $19.41 on top!

They are flat-packed, so DIY assembly required, but they take less than 5 minutes for each one, with only 4 screws which use a supplied allen key.

There is a good amount of plastic and foam wrapping protecting each piece in the box, and seem to be reasonably well made (especially as its obviously a low-end bar stool) with no apparent blemishes or sharp edges.

Instruction manual claims 110kg max rating.

Seems to be Australia wide but only around 50% of stores I've checked in different states have them in stock (as stated online), so do a quick check before you head in to your local store.

I might go grab these. Thanks mate.

    No stock in WA.

    • Sorry, I didn't check WA. It is quite hit and miss in the other states/territories, ie none in Darwin but some in Alice. Bunnings should do transfers from interstate stores but pretty sure they don't. (Could ask them at your local?)

Bought plastic chairs from Bunnings for $10ea, rated to 100kg. I'm 86kg .. give/take holiday allowance of 4kg so 90kg. Goddamn chair cracked at the legs.

Same happened to me with k-mart stools bought @ $6 each. Although not sure if it's Kmart quality or the slight lean to the right to fart. Whatever it was, I found myself on the floor. Never again!!

        Your farts are powerful.

that's what my wife also keeps telling

Reminds me of some 150kg guy in vietnam drinking a beer and falling on his ass when the chair legs snapped

    • Yeah, where do they come up with these numbers? Although I'm 130kg and so far no worries with these stools… At least there's some decent padding if I hit the floor…

    • Real life physics don't work like that. Any movement or the act of sitting down will add weight force, common sense really.

Someone around 90kg is going to be pushing it.

      • I hope whoever designed the chair isn't a road bridge engineer.
Not like I slammed my backside on the chair - was sitting down normally and the thing bent inwards and CRACK, part of its legs splintered off.

        • Haha, yeah.

There is a good amount of plastic

Free recycling for this with Redcycle at your local supermarket

  • Biggest problem with these from experience is pitting/rusting of the round bases, keep them nice and clean and don't hit them with the mop and you might get a couple of years.

    • The chrome coating they put on the base must be so thin, I've never seen one of the cheap ones without a rusty base. There must be so many usable chairs in landfill in Australia because the manufacturer wanted to save a few cents on chrome.

      • They designed for life - life of PU

    • If you live near the coast the problem is greatly amplified. I was cleaning ours quite regularly for the first year or so but eventually just gave up and now the chrome is rusty brown.

    110kg max rating.

OP should but in bold at the top that the average OzBargainer should use a pair of stools to prevent injury.

  • Picked up a set just now - thanks OP

    • Hows quality?

  • Found these (in white) at my local reject shop a couple months ago in Perth for $50 a pair

    • Aldi was selling them recently as well. I saw them on clearance at my local store just before Christmas.

PS: They are probably the #1 most thrown-away chairs on our local area's hard rubbish / council cleanup. The chrome plating is so thin that they are almost always rusty.
