  • Any one tried or have the shelter?

    Easy to pop up?

come sit next to me on the beach and we'll talk about the first thing that pops up…….my sun shelter

    • I bought this for 49$ couple days ago and returned it 2 days later it pops up easy although it has no windows to allow the breeze to come through the sand bags are high up the wall so it caves the walls in and the poles bend in the slightest breeze.

Might be good for your backyard but for the beach where there will most likely be a breeze it's not suitable.

      • Also Kmart has a similar shelter for 25$ but has 1 window prob about the same quality.

Used the Kmart one over past 3 days. Works well. $25 usual price. Has 1 window. Opens and closes well.

    Thanks, just got a cooler!

  • I don't particularly understand sun shelters like these which don't really give you much shade at all.

    • It depends on how u orient it against the sun.

    • yeah and why is sun shelter black? it should be white to reflect the heat.

  • Often a miss conception. I remember something in high school physics that black is actually better than white in the long run for being in the sun, why people in middle East, eg Dubai is often seen wearing black rather than white.
I think it's to do with the amount of heat black absorbs from your body is better than the amount of heat white reflects off your body (i.e. wearing white you cook yourself)
Someone can google the math. :)

i thought they wore black burqas because they would otherwise look like ghosts on halloween.

Nope, a black surface will be hotter than a white surface of the same material. It absorbs more energy.

In desert regions in the Middle East (such as Dubai), Arabs traditionally dress in white and still do so till today. You're probably thinking of black burqas women wear (which isn't very common; just another stereotype. Most people dress normally, although, generally more modestly). Regardless, the choice of black for the burqa is not because of the heat. Just google "arab desert dress" or something along those lines; it's almost always white.

NapiSan Oxy Action sales must be through the roof in the middle east

  • Bought a Kmart $12 sun shelter last year. Good enough for what we need but (profanity) me it's a bitch to put back in the perfectly tight bag

    • so that object that previously 'popped up' was a 'tight fit'.

      gotcha ;)

  • Hot item - Sun Shelter.
