  • How do these compare to the Techni ice ones?

    • +1

Like everything, average. Not really a fair comparison though, and pretty good value at 50 off.

      • so you're saying this is better quality or the techni ice?

        • +1

No, everything is average by comparison to Tekni Ice, they're the cream, used by military and emergency services. Also AUS made so quality control should be off the charts.

@pakkapie: Oh that's good news - I've had my 60L Techni Ice for 6 years or more and it's been fanstastic - only cost me $130 back then - keeps everything super cold all camping trip with a 2-3 2L frozen solid bottles of ice.

I always pre-chill the esky for 2-3 days beforehand though.

I have 50l Technie Ice Signature and eventually bought SCA Evacool 47l too.
Techni Ice is, of course, an expensive piece of technical perfection, supposed to keep ice up to 25 days. But its physical dimensions are quite impractical for using in most cars. The Evacool one is relatively sleek and is still really great as an esky (5 days ice rating, or so). This is a good deal, I would buy more, but already have enough 😁

Evakool make pretty high quality ice boxes and a few good fridges. Their ice boxes are pretty popular with fishermen.
This is just the ‘Supercheap’ branded icebox by Evakool.

Both Aussie companies don’t think you can go wrong with either

  • Interesting, wonder how they compare to some of the other brands. Have been looking for a new icebox

    • You get what you pay for with ice boxes, and after buying 1-2 bags of ice a day camping for a week it's false economy long term. But for a cheap place/entry level to start with this is an excellent deal, grab a 40l and see how you go, if not flip on gumtree near asking price here.

Looking for a cooler anyone know if the one from bigw or these would be better ?

I don't have either but this should be much better insulated.

these are surprisingly good. Kept 2 9kg bags of ice for 3 days on the 3rd day the ice was about the size of a fist and this was in the top end.

    • What size?

  • $99.95 delivery….

Got a 8% off gift card via Suncorp (redeemable instantly) and click-and-collected just then (cashback also tracked), thanks!

    • +1

Turns out I can access suncorp benefits through my car insurance and its the best system! Was able to buy a gift card at 8% off for the exact order amount ($107.09) and redeem instantly (page load time). Such a good system. Bought 0.5L of Bowdens nanolicious, a ridge ryder camping chair and this 25L cooler. And cashrewards 2.1%. Love "saving money".

  • Supercheap WA can't sell these ice boxes. Something to do with trading laws.
They suggested I try to rice match with the Wanderer brand at BCF.

In the end, I got the new Engel ice box, 50litre ENG50W at an online price match, for $230.

I thought it was a steal at that price.
