JBL Cinema SB150 Soundbar $195 @ Harvey Norman

100

Was on the lookout for a decent sound bar over Christmas and found one at Big W the JBL SB150 sound bar with wireless sub but price was $399. After Christmas they came on sale for $279.30, however before contemplating the purchase Harvey Norman sent an email with a sale and had the same sound bar advertised for $195.

So I went to Big W (saved travelling to Harvey Norman) and they price matched the bar and I saved an extra $10 off with my Woolworths card (due to points saved up).

Good quality sound and decent bass to boot!

  • does anyone own and can recommend this soundbar? I was ready to buy a yamaha yas108 for around $180 but this is also tempting

    • +1

this one got doof doof !

    • I have issues with ARC with the yas108 where after sitting for over a day it sometimes wont detect visual input from my bodafone TV box (even though ARc will power on the soundbar and control volume fine).

  • I have Yamaha YSP-2700 but I should have taken Bose 300 instead.

  • The YAS108 is still better unless you are not able to vote yet.

  • Never knew that big w can do price match. can they do for all products? (ie mobile phones)

    • +1

I would say yes. I aaked them once and they said tht they can price match

ah good that big w price match. i wouldn't give money to gerry if harveys was the last store in aus.

    • yes, just need to show them a current advertisement of the product. Im sure there would be some staff that say no but yes they do

Optical Digital input only. No ARC or HDMI passthrough. Would need to make sure that your TV supports this.

The Yamaha YAS108 has ARC and HDMI, but does lack the bass so it can sound slightly tinny.

Bose sounded brilliant in the store …. but is twice the price.

    • Has both optical and Aux inputs which I use the Aux from my TV as it doesn't have the optical output, still works great.

  • HN also have the Samsung 200W Soundbar + Sub for $188, ending today

    • Was just looking at that. Most retailers have it for this price. Looks like a decent unit.

I have the Samsung Soundbar/Subwoofer. Never missed a beat. Very good bass too for the price. Has ARC and HDMI and Bluetooth. Also use it to stream music from mobile devices. Works great.

Just to clarify the Samsung Soundbar cpho linked above does not have HDMI.

I’m wondering if it would be worth getting one of these. I’m still using a Logitech z5400 system that’s nearly 20 years old and still sounds great.

Whilst buying a new item on sale is great but if something doesn't need replacing then you probably don't need to.

You can go in store and compare the sound quality. Most places allow you to connect it via AUX or Bluetooth so you can test your own music/video. If it sounds much better, go for it.

    • Upvote for old tech!

This one doesn't have ARC. ARC function is so much convenient and probably worth having it if your TV supports ARC.

I own the JBL SB350 model and it's awesome. Sound is crystal clear, really good.

I have the 450.. great system. The convenience of ARC and CEC to control my PS4, Chromecast and lie TV is a god send.

    • Is this "450" the JBL Bar 3.1? I saw one at JB-HIFI and hol* sh*t, I am in love for its bass.

  • I regret buying my 1080

    • Yeah it’s not very good. I have one too.

      • Yeah luckily I had pieced together a 5.1 soundbar with ozbargain deals.

Now he 1080 sits in the bedroom

  • Just checked some online reviews and apparently the bass is not that good. If you like your lows, look for alternate options.
