It's cheaper to offer something people can't use than something people will use.
I have never used Uber, and I can't apply either of these codes because it says I already have a new user code applied to my account. I did apply a code before Christmas, but I never used it and it is expired because I can't see it anywhere…
…so I am an idiot because I have never used Uber and I will never get a new user discount.
Consider DIDI, they'll offer you $20 off your first ride. It's very comparable to Uber.
It's cheaper for many routes where Uberpool isn't available.

Uber's upfront pricing in Perth makes trips a lot more expensive than what they used to be. Uber now charges what it thinks you will be able to pay.
One way to get around this is to change the destination mid trip, it will then revert to its old time and distance pricing.
lmao, brah this is the stupidest thing I've read, upfront trip ofen makes it cheaper and trip is adjusted if your upfront fair is higher than actual fair.

Are you sure Uber isn't paying you for the actual trip while charging the rider the higher estimated price?
Two nights ago uber sent an email saying they've reduced my fair (as a rider) as the upfront pricing was more than the trip.
Yeah it’s ridiculous. There’s a trip I have made a fair few times (train station to home) that at most cost ~$9.50 (most of the time was closer to $9) and the upfront fare now is $11.80. I now just use Ola instead.

I made a new account but I cant seem to apply this code in the account page where you can add this promo code, it says its only available to new users (I just made my first account tho :( )
Edit: Actually I might have made this account a while ago because the app didnt really ask for my payment info but already had it when I thought I signed up. I never made any trips though so this is sad :(

I still don't know how they are still in business - the last news report I read said they make a loss every year (the last reported loss being over $1 Billion for a 3 month period!).
This is BS, i activated a 1st ride months ago. I tried to apply this code last night and it said I already have a 1st ride promo code applied. So I got my 1st ride and it took the full payment!
