  • how did you access this eshop (that is possibly australian) on the web? i dont know where to navigate to get there.

    • That's actually a good question, I wasted 5 minutes trying to find it through Google / the Nintendo website and just got stuck in loops. Super bad design!

    • +2

You access it on the switch

    • +2

Honestly, I googled "EC Nintendo Mario kart 8 Deluxe" and it was about the 3rd or 4th link down for me.

    • You could try use google, just search (without quote) "game name site:ec.nintendo.com"

I rather paid 5 bucks more for physical copy.

    • +18

I've got a physical copy. But I'm kinda over swapping game cartridges… So I'm going digital.

      • +2

Yeah after being so used to games on Steam, changing physical discs or cartridges seems almost technically impossible.

      • +1

Totally agree. I wish I’d bought all my games via the store now. Changing carts is a PITA and I’m always concerned about losing them (young kids in house).

      • Ditto. I'd gladly sell my physical copies and buy digitals if I could!

    • +3

I buy predominantly physical, and have MK8 physical. But multiplayer games like these, that I'd want to boot up randomly for a quick gane, I'd prefer digital to avoid having to switch carts from whatever main game i'm playing. And they are the sort of games i'd never sell or swap, because i'd want to always have them on hand for a multiplayer sesh (until a new version came out, at which point they would probably be near worthless anyway).

I only bought physical, because physical was cheaper!

    • buy it twice?

  • +1

Do you think I could sell my physical copy for $50?if so I'd see this as a $10 upgrade. As it is I don't play this enough - but I noticed when I went from physical to digital with Splatoon I play it a lot more. I'm kinda thinking games that are replayable and I want to keep I'll go digital on and games that are one off / story driven I will go physical so I can share or trade or sell them.

    • I did exactly this; got $55 in the end (as the game was selling for $69)

      • +1

Sell on Gumtree or trade in?

        • +1

Gumtree - albeit a few months ago now

  • +6

Rocketleague is all you'll ever need.

    • +2

I can confirm this to be true

    • Too bad there's now a $30 a year fee to play your rocket league on the switch 😕

      • +4

$6.87 if you share a family plan with 7 others! ;)

      • As opposed to the $100+ on other consoles?

        • +4

Or $0 on PC. I appreciate all of my consoles, but they're honestly charging for things that are free on PC.

  • Is the JB e-shop deal still active?

    • I don’t think so.

      • All good, thanks.

    • Sale ended on the 1st.

  • +5

It’s really great that Nintendo are discounting their (digital) first party titles. It was something that essentially never happened in the past.

  • +2

MK8 is a game I’d never trade in so it’s worth going digital

  • +2

I purchased this game 3 times:
Wii U version 2014.. and all DLC.
    Physical switch version 2017
    Digital switch version 2019

    No regrets. Love this game.

  • How long is this sale on?

  • Just bought Rocket League from the e-store full price last week as we were going away and my son wanted to play it (also has it on his Xbox One S).

Oh well, a great game and even at normal price I think is worth it, so at this price is a must have.

    • Do you still need a subscription to play it?

      • To play others online yes. To play offline no

    • The legend.

  • On discover tab it says 33% off instead of 25%? It's weird because some of the other Nintendo games are 33% off except for Mario Kart, and in UK eshop MK8, arms Splatoon are all 33% off.

    • +1

Australia always rolled on the discounts.

      • +2

Arms and Splatoon are 33% off in Australia too, and in the discovery tab it clearly says 33% off the biggest MK yet

  • Anyone think there might be a mk9 coming. Or mk 8 for a long time. Not familiar with nintendo's plan. I had a hard copy and thinking about go digital. But if newer gen coming maybe just wait.

    • +1

Not for a long time :( They've never released 2 Mario Karts on the same platform. This is a deluxe version of the Wii U,… but they'd still be cutting their own lunch if they do it. Most people would be happy with more DLC.

      • Is DLC free with MK8?

        • +1

Deluxe yes, Wii U no. Future DLC would probably be paid even on Deluxe.

    • It's anyone's guess at this time Mario kart 8 released in 2014 so if I were to guess I would say late 2020, early 2021

    • If you think you can wait another 2 years without a Mario kart in your Nintendo switch I would say wait. But if you think you can't I would say buy mk8 deluxe

  • Snagged Rocket League, thanks OP!
