  • Ordered on Saturday. No email yet.

Why would Telstra process the orders that came LATER than the ones EARLIER? Many of the Sunday orders have been fully sent, whereas mine has not even left the factory.

    Telstra, your service is terrible.

I do not understand why orders that placed lated than mine could get delivered even before I can get an dispatch confirmation Email. And you have already charged my CC.

    When I called up the 1300 131 113, the lady gave me "DIRECT" number 1800 819 023.

When I called up the 1800 081 023, the call routed to the SAME lady gave me the 1800 number again. When I told her that is the number I called, then she gave me the 1300 number!!! What is that? At the end she divert my call to a GENERAL help line for billing enquiry.

I am glad that I am only purchasing a product outright but not a service in contract.
, otherwise I will be kicking myself now.

    • I was given three numbers. Long story short. The only number I had some success of getting information about my order is:
      1800 266 000

However, honestly, you just need to wait. Even calling that number most likely won't get you the information you really want.

You really need to give Telstra 2 business days.

Telstra's customer service is not good (the staff are friendly and do try to help), but their systems are quite isolated.

  • Guys, words on WP that they already start selling $299 in-store this morning, and few people already purchased there. The stores may still have the display of old price but just ask them to scan.

  • Ordered Monday morning and still nothing yet… Gerd is Telstra Online Shop on top of this? Or there is any issue with the orders?

If they are available at the Telstra shops at the same price, maybe that would be a quicker way to get one.

  • Picked up a Galaxy Tab from my local Telstra store this morning for $299.

Five minutes later I called up the 1300 131 113 number to cancel my online order, and all was right in the world.

Interestingly, this morning i called up some 13 number to check stock at my local store. They told me there were 7 white and 8 black in stock. Got there and they only had 2 white in stock - so it seems their stock system was not exactly up to speed.

    • Bro, you can cancel even if the good has been ship to the T-Shop??

      • I'm not sure. My order actually shipped this morning despite my cancellation request, so I was instructed to refuse delivery when it arrives.

  • I got one from TLife store also after my online order went crazy. I'm really happy with it!

    • Just had mine delivered - so far so good. Love the feel of it and the size is perfect! Very happy. Sorry to hear people had trouble with Telstra online service. Service I received was great.

  • just grabbed one from the Telstra shop on George St at $299

  • Just received mine as well.

    I'm one happy bugger :)

Currently waiting for it to charge fully before i can get to rooting and other stuff >.<

    • Got a web link on how to root this by chance? I'm feeling a bit lazy at the moment. :D

        1 Dolllllar!!!

        • You are a champ! Thanks mate.

        • Do you have a guide on how to backup the Telstra ROM it comes with?

    • What is the best rom for this baby?

  • do you know what colour will you get for online order?

    • Only white for line orders.

But that said, do samsung even make black ones?

      • thought it was only 'chic white' available for the saumsung galaxy tab..

        • so you mean there is only 1 colour for Galaxy tab? which is black front and white back? or is there any other colour options?

        • yeah thats my assumption and thats whats in the stores
so yeah black front and white black unless someone else can advise otherwise..

  • Eastgardens have 1 left. Scans at 299. Super happy

  • Went to T-Life at Knox. They received a shipment of 10 just as I walked in. So I got a fresh one out of the new batch. Nine remain.

  • Hi guys, CHECK YOUR ORDER and PAYMENT

you might want to know what is happening with mine

I rang 1800 266 000 and find out that my order was Cancel and DECLINED

The reason given was Delivery address is incorrect. and then given anoher reason which is my Billing address is incorrect.

It is BS, how would they charge my CC if my billing address is incorrect? and they do actually have my correct delivery address.

I have been told that My order is Cancel, I wont receive any product and my payment is refunded. THAT IS NOT TRUE. I just rang my bank immediately and they told me that they have not receive any refund transaction. They only see that Telstra has charged me 299.

Which means 299 dollar is taken by I will not receive the product?

What should I do now!? Is it a Online Fraud by Telstra!??!?!?

    • And worst i have ordered accessories already. Telstra you never let me disappointed, you are the worst as I always believe and you are keeping it up and doing it well.

What kind of online shop does Telstra is running, is it just getting order online processing payment and then would never update the customer about the order status?

Why they dont email customer to tell them the order is declined or what?

What kind of idiot system it is!?

      • Hi - sorry about your bad experience. If an order is declined, normally a note is sent out to the customer.

If you'd like me to look into it and reinstate the order, please email me directly [email protected]

        Thanks

        Gerd

    • the refund will only come in a bit later. i 'm not too worry about my refund. telstra is quite used to refunds due to their horrible billing systems. although i did received cancel notification from them.

  • I just managed to cancel my Saturday order and bought one in the shop, now hoping the refund is ok. It's not a good experince with Telstra online.

I'm guessing Telstra online isn't really set up to deal with 100's of orders coming in at once. They probably just went "Oh ## what do we do?" and decided to go home and let the call center sort it out as best as they could.

Orders likely fell behind as a few managers had some meetings and someone came up with the idea that it would be good if they didn't make any decisions until they brought in a contractor at $175 /hr to put together some pie charts and bar graphs to show them some data which was completely useless. Anything to prevent from actually making a decision for fear of something going wrong and one of them being held accountable.

      • I think Telstra decided to use ozbargainers as beta testers for their online shop, free labour after all (so we aren't the only ones who love a freebie :)

I ordered mine on Friday and it arrived 9:30 this morning. In case people are wondering what comes in the package; if you ordered it online the tab will have a black front and white back. It also comes with a charger, usb cable and even some earphones.

  • Ordered mine on Sunday morning 9am and received a confirmation email minutes later.
Went into the store today to see if it turned up about 11.30.
Mine wasn't there, but at the same time the delivery guy turned up with a stack of galaxys in individual packs. And mine still wasn't there.
So I bought another on the spot for $299. Thought about canceling my order, but figure it would be easier to sell it ;-)

  • Just picked up 2 units at the chadstone Telstra store about an hour ago. Cancelling online order . They had 7 in stock now 5.

  • Still nothing!

  • Received mine today. Ordered Friday night.

  • Just picked up mine from the store at Fountain Gate, Narre Warren. The sales guys didn't even know about the price drop (they had two more).

What a saga.. Ordered at Unique Mobiles for $370 then cancelled it after finding out the Telstra online price. Then ordered Telstra online on Saturday. Called Telstra online in the morning today and my order still said 'Pending'.

Went to the Fountain Gate store, verified they had it in stock and cancelled the online order while at the store.

Still waiting for the cancellation confirmation mail from Telstra though.

  • 5 stocks in Doncaster Westfield store. I picked one up so 4 left. INSIST that the purchase is for outright buy and not plan. Tell them to scan. Most staffs think (or pretend to think) that the $299 deal if you bought it with plan. Bought it for $299 outright for wife's early mother's day pressie.

  • Auspost just dropped off my Galaxy Tab!! it's the white one.

    Pretty please!!!!!

    • They said got hundreds came in… Are they serious lol…

  • I just went to the Highpoint store and got the last one. Sales person stuffed up on the cash register so I ended up saving a dollar XD. Also got the Samsung case and a $2 sim.

  • Does anyone know where to buy the screen protection and back case for this device ?

  • Just got an email from telstra saying my order has left the warehouse today!!!

woooohooo!! have something to play with on the long weekend.

how long does it usually take to receive the goods once you received the email?

    • typically next day - Australian air express

  • I'm posting from my brand new galaxy tab. Knox city has at least 6-7 left. They got new shipment this morning.

  • Does anyone here know how to access net via 3G here? I've been able to connect via wifi but I'm not too sure how to do it via the sim card internet. Thanks

      • Have you ever used an Android device before?

        • -3

damn you guys for negging me. I haven't used Android before, but I don't need to use iOS before I used iphone for the first time. I don't even know how to turn off loud speaker when making phone call, I need to spend some time to explore this device.

      • There is a bit of a learning curve but once you get into it you'll be flying. :)

        • -1

seems like there is NO WAY to turn off loud speaker when making phone call…. WTF, I have to use headset all the time which is annoying…

        • +1

haven't you read any reviews? There is no earpiece. You'd look quite weird holding up such a huge device to your face to use as a phone.

      • Mate you have gotten used to Apple and now are using something similar but different, it will take a while to figure it out.. I get completely frustrated when I use iOS but then I've been on the Android bandwagon for a while now :)

    • which provider are you trying to set up? try this if vodafone http://www.vodafone.com.au/help/devices/ota-settings/index.h…

I had the same question before too and this sorted it out for me :)

      • I'm with TPG so I think it's soul or something. I love the device; it's great. Just having a bit of trouble getting internet access via 3G.

  • Life's too short, pick one up from George Street for $269 using my sister's telstra staff discount.

    • any chance to share it? :)

      • They were very strict on having her there with ID and made a photocopy, so not sure if the receipt will do and any good.

      • +11

        To share his sister?

  • What we all need now is some big deals on decent cases….. :)

    • Yeah I've been looking around for some to put together an offer for you guys but my suppliers only sell Apple stuff. Arghh..

    • Fwiw, the official case is cheaper from Telstra than jb.

  • Got mine in adelaide 10 min ago good deal fast delivery 2nd buisness day after ordering friday afternoon perfect for the wife to facebook

  • FYI: update on orders made on Saturday (in short, delivery within ten days):

    http://whrl.pl/RcIQec

    Piss poor effort Telstra

    • Gerd, any comment on this?

      • I don't think "Sunday orders have priority over Saturday orders". Not sure where that's from. The promised delivery time is 10 business days as per FAQs on the site. The actual delivery time should be much shorter, but our arrangements don't guarantee that.

It's fair to say that the increased order volume is taking some slack out of the system, but that should not impact the promised delivery time.

        Hope this clarifies

    Hi nerds,
I went to Telstra Burke St this morning and the woman in front of me bought 4 tabs…. out of stock instantly. Really upset!. Fortunately, I managed to go to Telstra Melbourne Central and got the last one in store.

    • Bet she's eBaying them lol

      • quick check on ebay shows people are buying them for $399…. You'd think they would check the Telstra website before hitting the buy it now button. I bet they think they got a deal also!

  • So now that I have bought one and it's out of my system. I want to sell it.. Anyone? only kidding :)

  • +1

Not happy Telstra! I ordered online on saturday, it's now tuesday… Still not processed, no confimation email - even though people who ordered on Sunday are already have theirs.
I've wasted an hour on various 1300, 1800 numbers - only to be told "I can't tell you anthing". So I drove into the City store in hope to buy one outright. After I waited in the store for over 30min for someone to serve me - they've sold out & don't expect stock until next week sometime. She gave me another 1800 number - which was totally useless! What terrible customer service this is. I was going to get a telstra sim card - but after dealing with their customer service I doubt I will. I hope a Telstra rep reads this & can help me out!

Hi there - sorry to hear you've had issues. Could you please email me direcly at [email protected] ?

Hi everyone - I'm really happy to follow up when something when wrong with your order. You may also want to check the FAQs http://help.telstra.com/app/telstra_shop_online

For example, if you haven't received your order inside two business days, no need to be concerned

I'm chasing up the processes on order workflow to provide some insight given feedback on the order in which orders are processed. It's a first in first out principle, but that's not what you say is happening.

        Thanks

        Gerd

        • I wish it wasn't the case Gerd, but sadly I have it on very good authority it is. ALL of Friday and Sundays orders have been looked at, while Saturdays and Mondays (maybe some bright spark has finally comprehended the impact it's been having on customers) orders are only just being completed now.

Though kudos to you for attempts to keep the channels of communication open, but ultimately you've been thrown under the bus here.

For anyone who have problem with 3G connection on optus/TPG/Soul network, just go to http://optusau.wdsglobal.com/ after configure via mms, it works!!!

    • Sorry to be annoying, but what do I do after that? I've gone to: Settings —> Mobile Networks —> and then I'm stuck.

if anybody wants one and can't find one at a store with $299 pricing, i'm happy to get one from my local store and send it on via Express Post Platinum tomorrow so it will get to you by Easter.

  • Just picked one up from the Telstra Hay St. store in Perth. They have them on the counter with a $299 sign.

Ordered one Galaxy Tab on Friday afternoon and received it today. No sagas or dramas here.

    I'm actually a little excited…

      Great to hear :)
      Gerd

    • same :)

  • anyone knows the correct apn for three?

  • anyone can confirm, if i buy this from telstra, can i use it on canada or other asian countries for voice call/sms/mms?

Also, is this a temporary reduction, or a permanent reduction? any idea?

    • I can confirm it will in asian countries but not sure about Canada tho.
I think the price reduction is while stock last….

    • Its unlocked which means you should be able to put any sim into it. I've used unlocked phones bought in Australia all over the world including Canada and most of Asia. Never a problem.

  • Anyone at Brisbane want to have it before long weekend I sell mine in original price or I will send it back.

  • +2

Btw, credit to Gerd for keeping the communication open and providing ongoing customer service. Not very common by the vendors especially for a behemoth such as Telstra :-)

    Cheers again Gerd!

  • So anyone feels 7 inch is a bit too small?

    • it depends where you are coming from. It is hugh compared to my HTC desire :)

It's all very tempting, but let me just relate the experience of a colleague of mine re the Samsung Galaxy Tab.

He got one through work from Telstra at what was the going price (I think around $700) late last year.

After ten days, it no longer booted up. Seemed to have died.

He sent it back to Telstra for repairs/replacement in early January.

After getting no word from Telstra at the end of January, he contacted them and was told Samsung wouldn't process his repair request without him submitting a credit card number. He wasn't very happy about this, but it was his company's purchase and card, so submitted accordingly.

Fast forward 3.5 months, and he's still waiting to get his Tab back repaired or replaced. He's in regular contact with Telstra staff, both via his local Telstra Store (Carlton, VIC) and by phone and email. The people he speaks with only tell him it should be "any time now", but they also admit they have no control over Samsung's processes. They also tell him he can't go directly to Samsung with this — it's got to be via Telstra. They also tell him they'll contact him to keep him up to date, but he's had to initiate all contact because they never actually get back to him.

Anyway, that's the saga. Just thought I'd throw it out there as fair warning.

    Cheers
