Australian Open Ground Pass Attire

I'm attending the Australian Open for the first time this week. I've purchased a ground pass for the outer courts and hisense arena, but I'm unfamiliar with what the appropriate attire is. I've seen people show up in suits for big name matches but am unsure what it is like outdoors. I'm a guy, what should I wear to the open?

Shirt, shorts, socks, sneakers, sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat (Sorry. I ran out of "s" words.)

A suit in 40+ degree weather: Not priceless, just senseless.

Roger won't care that you're not wearing a suit. He won't be.

  • Singlet, shorts and thongs.

    Definitely black tie attire

….. Or just shorts and t-shirt like the other 99% of people there

    show up in suits

Dress like Colonel Sanders for you. :)

  • Unless you're a famous person or rich businessman, just wear what is comfortable.

Wear long sleeve collared shirt if you don't want to get burnt, shorts and breathable trainers.

    suit only for ground pass

People going in suits are going to corporate events you’ll find.

Depending on the weather shorts, T-shirt (maybe a polo) are fine.

    beach wear

topless + board shorts + thongs

  • Birthday suit with some clothes on top

  • Wear whatever is most comfortable for you.

topless with the Aussie flag for a cape.

    Swedish flag body glitter.

  • Bin Tang singlet with up to one thong (or barefoot).

Just something comfortable that will be suitable for the heat, and that you can handle wearing in public.

You don't need to dress like it's the races.

I would go Tuxedo just in case. Always overdressed. You can then dress down if the situation calls for it. For example, take off the coat. Roll up the sleeves.

Send us a photo !! Good luck

    Sock. (Singular)

  • Borat suit

  • You actually need to wear a dress. Australia Open is very trans these days.

  • I had a ground pass to the AO last year and I went dressed in a suit. When the mercury climbed over 41C I took my tie off and was immediately approached by security who told me to put it back on or they would escort me from the grounds.

  • Trust me.
You want to get noticed at big events like this.

Get yourself the latest bigbrand tennis gear outfit. Buy a professional tennis bag, load them up with cold beer.

WALK AROUND AND START SIGNING AUTOGRAPHS.
might pick up some chicks too.

    • Don’t forget you will need a fake lanyard and photo.

I have been several years. The dress code for hospitality/corporate is “The dress code is smart casual (no thongs, singlets, ripped jeans, ripped clothes or sports shorts)”. This is taken straight from the website. Ground passes do not have this standard. Sport shorts, t shirt and thongs are fine.

If planning to go to hisense, you need to have a plan. While you can get unalloyed aged seating, if the match is popular and later in the day, there will be a queue to get in. This can happen on Friday upside courts too. Middle Saturday is often a sellout in ground passes too.
