  • no dedicated graphics

    • the screen resolution can't justify having one.

      • +1

The screen resolution is pretty standard..?

    • -3

Congratulations for being the first noob to point this out… loser.

  • What the the HN deal for $597 acer?

    • Yes, it is.

      • +1

Hi guys, you know what I have just seen this now. If you actually inquire with HN stocks are limited, please note we have literally hundreds of these laptops and stock is going to be current for a few weeks. Just to top it off though to combat this, mention this add and we will also throw in a free luxy carrybag and wireless mouse with this purchase.

Not to mention if you choose to get a second year of warranty, we only charge $39 for the extra where as HN have a fixed price of $79.

Thats just our way of giving you more computer for your money and remember if you can find cheaper on a deal we will always beat it.

  • So if it is "all new", I would think at least one of the USB ports would be USB 3.0 right??

    • it's not all new, last gen processor.

  • hi guys.

The i5 CPU in the machine is still a second generation, but at least realise how powerful they still are. This machine is all new as is was a current model, only released just this month.

As stated above, this machine is ideal for student use, home use or business use. The average tasks imaged for these users would be; internet use, microsoft use, music, videos, photos, media hubs for TV connectivity etc, keeping connected onn the go, etc.

You can not honestly say an i5, even a first generation i5 would not smash all of those tasks.

It does lack a dedicated video card also which is a fair point, but again the above tasks would not suffer speed wise with or without a video card as they are not heavily graphics based.

The ultimate reason why it lacks a video card is just to save you money, it's still only $599 - most users will pay an extra $200+ for similar models with a 1GB dedicated graphics card they will never use.

However if you are a heavy graphics user and want the heavy gaming capability, check out our website www.lfo.com.au , select "Laptops" , "Acer" and search for the Acer Aspire 5750G-2414G50Mnkk. It is also on special in store for only $849. That my friend, is a second generation i5 CPU with a all new nVidia GeForce GT520M. The two are both new release parts to the laptop market and are crazy in terms of power potential - again a really cheap price.

    • it is not sandy bridge

      • +2

Why crap on these cheap laptops?? No dedicated graphics, no sandy bridge cpu.. wa, wa, wa… Look at the price.. what the hell do you expect?? Not all of us play video games and get turned on by the level of detail we can play some lame game on. This is a good deal for someone who would use a laptop for what they are meant to be used for.

      • the 5750G is, the 5742 is not.

      • +1

Most people do not require sandy bridge, especially those purchasing a budget laptop.

        • +1

sandy bridge doesnt get you much extra anyway

so you have the latest processor… it's not faster than the older ones anyway…

        • Sandy bridge does give substantially better battery life, which is the main bonus for the latest laptops that have one. You'll get up to 10 hours from 1 charge in some models… that's better than MacBooks.

  • So sick of ppl complaining about cheap notebooks not having a dedicated graphics card, or that its not HD+ or FHD screen.
Where in Australia would you be able to find a brand new 2010/11 notebook with a dedicated graphics card and FHD screen for less than $600?
If you are after a notebook with a dedicated gpu, FHD, or other high end specs, you wouldn't be looking at notebooks less than $800.
If you can prove me wrong, then you really have a bargain there.
    Otherwise, STFU. OK?

  • I am interested in some other notebook like TimelineX 4280TG.
    Any discount or free stuffs???
