OZB_TAXBACK_$500OFF

Hi OzBargain,

A lot of requests for our current best 9800X3D system that doesn't skip out on features and can do it all. Currently, purchases BEFORE the 22nd of September will also get a bonus free copy of Borderlands 4 valued at $109.95.* Really sweet value for these rigs that will tick the boxes for many people who want a beefed-up rig instead of the bare minimum.

✅ 10 phase VRM motherboard with an upgrade available to B650 EAGLE ATX at only $60 with 12+2+2 phases VRMs
✅ Ideal and sweet spot speed and lower latency RAM for X3D CPUs with SK Hynix A-Die 6000MHz CL28
✅ Reliable and likely B tier InWin PSUs on both builds that are PCIe 5.0 and ATX 3.0 ready
✅ Double the storage with 2TB Lexar NQ790 (R: 7000MB/s | W: 6000MB/s) vs standard 1TB drives
✅ Minimalistic air cooler design, better build quality material and operates quieter at approximately 25 dBa
✅ Front mesh panel design from MSI with 6x auto RGB fans vs 4x ARGB fans for even better cooling
✅ A more affordable RTX 5070 Ti GPU option is available as an alternative for the same system offering (with 750W PSU)

Can't say the same for this deal.

          • +9

@marshmall0w2: 13 minutes today marshmallow, a bit uncharacteristic of you 🙄.

          • @marshmall0w2: techfast or this deal I'm tryna get everyones opinion

  • Any ITX deals soon?

    • +4

Asked quite often and unfortunately with how much premium ITX components come with it's hard to make it OzBargain worthy, sorry :(. The best middle ground is small form fator cases like the Lian Li Dan A3 to get the best of both worlds - small size without compromising airflow too much and lower price.

      • +1

Maybe do a small form factor deal and you’ll be rich 😉

    • +1

what is the difference between ITX and ATX? Is one better than the other?

      • +1

These are motherboard form factors or in simpler terms, motherboard sizes. ITX is smaller then ATX, ATX is the regular size motherboards. Specifically

ITX: A small 170mm x 170mm (6.7" x 6.7") motherboard form factor designed for compact PCs. So suitable for someone who wants smaller size PC case, and sometimes such parts command a bit extra price.

ATX: A larger, standard 305mm x 244mm (12" x 9.6") motherboard form factor that fits in larger cases and provides more room for components.

  • Omg yes! This is what I’ve been waiting for, with the 9800x3d.

  • +25

Not really a fan of the $50 shipping insurance. You’ve got an obligation to provide them item in an undamaged state under ACL. The only thing this insurance is needed for is theft.

    • for 50 I should take it or not

      • +8

No. Shipping insurance in Australia is a scammy tactic pulled by retailers. Like Hoddi said, if the product arrives damaged, consumers are entitled to a remedy such as a refund, replacement, or repair, regardless of shipping insurance.

        • +2

          scammy tactic pulled by retailers

I wouldn't so much as say it's by the retailers but by the freight companies as all the retailers are doing is passing on the cost of the freight-providers 'Freight Insurance' to the consumer as an optional add-on at checkout

Although I will say that it's in the best interest of the retailer to provide that FOC when the product being sent is subject to fragility, the product offering in this post being a good example.

      • +2

Depends on whether you want peace of mind, just like extended warranties they make the process easier if something goes wrong. While in certain situations ACL might cover something (e.g. your new pc being damaged in shipping), depending on the business it can be a real hassle getting them to do stuff under ACL. I haven't bought anything from Nebula pc so I can't comment, but they get a good rep so far here on Ozb.

    • -1

      100%.

I reported another company to the ACCC for offering shipping protection. Completely against your rights under the ACL. Still waiting on a reply though unfortunately and this was a good 6 weeks ago.

  • What are the recommended upgrades for a build like this?

    • It really is good to go, some people do prefer a modular PSU or the 321R case as they're ARGB PWM fans. Otherwise, it's ready to rock and roll. Others also prefer a name brand GPU or a particular model.

    • I would swap out the SSD for one with TLC nand and a DRAM cache. Something like a Kingston KC3000 or Crucial T500.

QLC nand with no DRAM cache like the NQ790 here are "OK" but their limitations become much more apparent once you reach 80% capacity on the drive or start doing very large file transfers across other drives.

  • So sad to have an amazing system then put a $30 cpu cooler on it

    • +2

The AK400 cooler is well more than capable, but I do understand where you come from. It's always a battle trying to find the best balance of both worlds with value and performance. In general we do prefer the air coolers just because less can go wrong and they are quieter compared to liquid coolers.

      • +1

Peerless Assassins are very decent ones for 60 AUD for end consumers lol. Surely you can get something like that for cheaper.

        • +6

Unfortunately, the large air coolers like the Peerless Assassin don't ship well at all. The heatsink bends easily for some reason, despite our best efforts to pack it well. We don't offer beefy air coolers anymore for this reason.

        • +1

There's no way a build is arriving undamaged with a big air cooler like the PA.

  • +2

It's so tempting, but I'm trying to keep myself from purchasing until the 5080 Super is released

  • +1

Great price, i built a similar system 3 months ago and it cost me almost $5000

  • Can you sharpen your pencil on 9950X3D, price difference is approx $350,(based on $795 for 9800x3d) however your premium is an additional $600?

    • The best pricing and deal would be for the 9800X3D at this stage. Unfortunately, retail price differences for components aren't always an accurate representation of what we offer.

  • That's an excellent build.

I have a few questions about the components:

Is an 850W power supply sufficient?

Is the Nebula HydraCore 360mm AIO a good choice for cooling?

Regarding the case fans: if I add 3x Lian Li UNI SL fans, does that mean I'm adding 3 more fans, or am I replacing the 4 existing MSI fans? Also, would it be okay to just stick with the stock case fans?

    • +1

      Thank you for your interest.

Yes, 850W is well more than enough for this configuration with the RTX 5080 and 9800X3D.

Yes, the AIO option is there if you prefer however, it isn't necessary. The AK400 will suffice and perform fine.

It would mean you are adding additional fans if we can fit them. If it doesn't fit, then we would need to replace however many existing to fit the additional/replacement 3 Lian Li fans. Yes, it would be perfectly fine to stcik with the fans that come with the case.

  • Well your timing is spot on, My pc died when I went to melb and came back to sydney and the storm seems to have fried the mobo. Expensive Repair costs = New PC.

    • +3

😁, motherboards usually have quite generous manufacturer warranties. If it's not over 3 years old, you likely can get it repaired/replaced under warranty at no cost. Try digging for the invoice and see if you can see when you purchased it. If it is an MSI, ASUS or GIGABYTE motherboard, they all have local repair centres. Even if it is out of warranty, you can still get a quote from the manufacturer and weigh your options out!

      • All good. It was a bit old. lol. And a Dell. :/

        • Oh then it might be a bit more tricky haha.

  • damn this is a nice price bundle for the 5070ti might finally break me to upgrade from my beater pc with an i3 and 4060 (was running a windforce 970 until recently)

  • Would there be any way to get this without an SSD? Currently got 2 decent ones in my rig and wouldnt have space 3 with the mobo options and transferring everything isnt preferred.

    • +3

I really want to say yes as a friend, but we need to make sure the system is working and tested before despatch, including the SSD. We've had a lot of trouble with taking certain parts out of the system, and our support isn't set up for this. We can no longer offer it anymore, sorry. The best solution I can provide would be to sell or repurpose one of the SSDs that aren't in use. Hope you understand!

    • +1

Get a PCI-e adapter (I've got one for my 3rd Lexar) using the spare slot.

  • Any plans to make builds with the HAVN HS420 VGPU or the Phanteks Evolv X2?

Also, is it just me or does the custom prebuilt section of the website not work? I select builds but don't see the option to swap out parts at all…

    • Nothing at this stage, as likely this won't be of big interest for OzBargain.

Which custom prebuilt systems were you looking at? There are a few on there that you can customise.

      • I couldn't find any. Although the Monarch looks like exactly what I was about to build minus the case and a tryx panorama

  • OZB_TAXBACK_$500OFF isn't working after I changed a few items. Is this normal? (e.g., changed the 5080 brand to MSI, a different case, a 1000W power supply, and a liquid cooler). Also, how long will the deal last?

    • When that happened, I managed to fix it by changing the delivery from 'ship' to 'pick up' and then back to 'ship' again.

    • It'll work, just need around 30 seconds or so for the system to recognise your custom build 😁. Let me know if you're still having any issues!

  • +1

Bought a 5060 system from them from older deal. Was well packaged and quite happy with system. No issues.

    • Thank you for your support! ❤️😁

    • how long it take and did u make any changes to the build

      • I did a few upgrades to higher quality parts. Mine took around 3 weeks to ship. I enquired twice and they responded about moving office causing delay. They did respond very soon. Once shipped I got it 3rd day.

        • yeah I don't mind waiting up to a month as long as theres active communication, thanks for the response

  • I see you have some Lian Li case options, any chance for greater range, like Lian Li 207?

    • Not at this stage, unfortunately. Not much demand for that model sorry.

  • +1

@Nebula PC This couldn’t have come at a better time. I’ve been planning an upgrade before the Term 3 break so I can enjoy some downtime away from the chaos of my feral students.

I’ve got a couple of quick questions. I’d like to swap the case at purchase to the Lian Li DAN-A3 Wood mATX Case – Black, and I’m also considering a few other tweaks either now or later in the year:

    • Upgrading the PSU (ideally modular, sleeved cables, not the RGB cable option)
    • Switching the cooling to an AIO
    • Adding some extra case fans

If I go with this setup, would I still have enough I/O space to add a Turing display later on?

I am kind of wanting to go a bit more vanity, but sleek with this build.

    • Hi,

      Thank you for your interest.

There is a small space inside for a display however, please note the A3 black has a mesh side panel, meaning you can't see the display if you were to place it inside. Fitment will also be somewhat tight, and you are better off going with a larger case with a side glass panel to be safe.

Any questions, please let me know.

      • Thanks for the details. I have been looking into it for a while and noticed that some retailers are selling the glass panels for around $30, so a non-issue as far as transparency for the internal display is concerned.

I was getting some inspiration from some of these builds circulating the last few months:
        https://www.reddit.com/r/mffpc/comments/1fsa8tp/updated_my_a…
        https://www.reddit.com/r/mffpc/comments/1m34bit/my_best_shot…

The only concerns I have are just making sure the build is clean-looking initially before I tackle the small additions personally later. I think a modular supply with sleeved cables might make the build a little better in my case. Do you offer normal non-rgp sleeved cable options?

        • Ah okay, understood.

From those builds, it looks to fit but of course fitment will vary depending on your setup. No non-RGB sleeved cables at this stage, there are plenty of options available from others though!

          • @Nebula PC: With AIO and fan setups in the Lian Li DAN-A3, what would be the recommended airflow setup?

I have seen various takes on the airflow, but what would be, in your opinion, the best options for AIO and fan combo here?

            Dual-fan or trible-fan AIO?
Optimal additional fans (3x, 4x options)?

            • @Velathial: A 360mm triple-fan AIO will be better, and as for the additional fans, I suppose adding as many as can fit will be best for airflow.

              • @Nebula PC: Thanks for getting back to me. I placed the purchase over the weekend, hoping to receive it within the next few weeks so I can enjoy some time away from students. :)

                • @Velathial: Thank you for your support! ❤️😁

        • Mine wasn’t built until day 12. It was almost 3 weeks by the time I received it.

          • @CloseTheDoor: :S Well, I am glad I chose to do it sooner rather than later, then.

Gave myself 3 weeks' lead-up to the term 3 holidays for it to be dispatched, should show up when I need/want it. Then I can enjoy it and transition over everything I need to from my 3070 laptop that's beginning to show its age to the new rig.

    • We're on it ASAP, despatch time of 7-10 business days is on track. Thank you for your patience.

  • Holy shit this is the deal I've been waiting for, but I don't have the money right now

Tax return is put in a month from now then another week for the return, otherwise I would order this right now

    • Haha all good, I always recommend purchasing when you are ready 😁. No rush at all!

  • Any concerns with temps/throttling with the 5080 build in the Lianli A3 case?

    • +1

It is a smaller case, and airflow is restricted despite it being a massive mesh panel case essentially. You will see higher temps than the 321R/120A case, as it has a front mesh panel with front intake fans, understandably. I wouldn't say there are concerns with throttling or horrible temperatures, but with how the case is designed, it will run slightly warmer.

      • Do I need to add the Lian Li case fans or does it come with some stock case fans already?

Given its a closed case it seems wasteful to add in the RGB AIO or ARGB fans as well.

        • There are no stock fans that come with the case, unfortunately. If you'd like, we can add non-RGB fans at a lower cost to the case. Please email us and we'll get it sorted ASAP.

          • @Nebula PC: All good, appreciate how responsive you are on OzB and the tips/guidance. I ended up ordering the MSI fishtank style case.

  • Hanging for my new Pc, ordered on the 26/08

    • Same!!

      • Have you heard back yet?

        • Nah not yet. Assume it’s the same for you? It’s almost end of day 9.

          • @EuphratesFate: Yep same. Haven't heard.

            • @Dunks: Day 12 for me tomorrow..actually just got the email for pickup!

              • @BootnShlanks: Awesome mate. Did you have to reach out to them?

                • +1

@EuphratesFate: I reached out a couple times via the live chat but got like ‘it’s still in the time frame response’ which is valid. Called Friday and told Monday or Tuesday and just got the email now without calling up again.

            • @Dunks: Nothing yet, hmmmmm

          • @EuphratesFate: Can confirm I didn't get an email or call it's the 10th day.

            • @Dunks: Same!! Getting a bit annoyed now..

              • @EuphratesFate: I was a tad disappointed as well not hearing on day 10 but give them a day or 2 grace and you'll hopefully hear from them or give them a quick call asking for an update. I got my email towards the end of day 11. Fingers crossed for you both. Carl is who helped me and is super nice. Set it up yesterday and I can't fault it at all! I'm pretty stoked with it :)
