What's with bottom of the barrel RAM, SSD and PSU? Makes Techfast systems seem premium compared to this.

    • +9

This. Why would I want Biwin RAM & SSD when more reputable RAM & SSD are more or less the same prices.

    • +1

Thank you for your feedback, ultimately it is to reduce costs as much as possible without it affecting quality. We typically list all components for full transparency with what you will get. Understandably, Biwin doesn't have a large presence in Australia, hence your comment. They work great, and the RMA rate is low.

On the contrary, if we list for example, tier one brands or big name brands, the price will be too high for OzBargain's appetite, and similar feedback will be given in the opposing manner. It is a lose lose situation. However, I totally understand where you are coming from and we will try our absolute best to cater for all markets. It is big, and we will continue to do more variations to try to please all. Unfortunately, some deals won't be suitable for you, but may be suitable for others.

Where you finding the 7800x3D for $350? I call bs

      • -4

you’re not on ozb enough 😹

        • +2

Lowest the 7800X3D has been is around $440.

    • Share one link with a 9800X3D for $700. Cheapest I can find with a quick Google Is $929.

      And $709 for the 7800X3D.

      • +4

To the both of yous. The answer starts with an "A" and ends with "liexpress".

        • -1

          Correct.

        • +2

and you want Aussie retailers to source their chips from Aliexpress, are you ok?

          • @Freestyle: I’m interested to know where you think these super cheap deals come from - and why you think places like tech fast have such long wait times?

            • @barge-in hunter: i'm interested to know why you think system integrators pay the same as us all the time and how you think even the eofy sales arent supported by the actual vendors?

              • +2

@Freestyle: they def buy in bulk from suppliers on ali/taobao or the people supplying them lol. the case, psu and motherboard brands are big indicators of that imo

          • +2

@Freestyle: They already have to do that for the 7500F, a Chinese only product that are Australian prebuilder’s bread and butter.

        • Cheap prices but no guarantees.

          • +5

@FujinShu: My man.. some people find "bargain" in the absolute dollars saved.. and some people find the "bargain" in peace of mind..
            So.. to each their own..

For me, my assessment is that the AliEx sellers are reputable.. i started out low value with them.. and have slowly increased.. And seldom have I had a bad experience.. If I did.. it was an instant refund and keep the item..

Besides, CPUs are least prone to damage/failure overtime. So, if there's one place I'd gamble, it's that.

That being said, you do you.

            • +2

@bruhminister: some people here thinks everyone should just blindly believe those Aliexpress deals i never understood it

there is a limit to the risk some people want to take

if anything ever goes wrong warranty would be a complete nightmare

        • +1

Yeah, those processor deals from Aliexpress are sweet. How do we get the rest of the parts for the same sweet-sweet price?

          • +1

@gamesnepal: I’m not here to join your argument, just to share the parts I got during last week

            9700x+ B650M Aorus Elites AX
            Corsair RE750 Gold + Corsair 32G 6000mhz CL30 RGB Ram
            Thermalright SE 120 ARGB white.
990 Pro 2TB+ Lian Li 207 ARGB White.

All up $1092. Working on a GPU deal to finish my white build. It took some research for the deals but I can pick perfect parts for my needs, also cheaper.

            • @Legendalvin: What GPU are you aiming for?

              • +2

@gamesnepal: 9070 is the best value atm but no deal recently, 5070 is very close at ~$900 but the Palit card has plastic backplate and cooler, also it’s black. I might have to go for 9070xt, it’s overkill for me and my setup, so I’m still on the fence. No rush though, GPU is the most overpriced part among all the pc parts.

    • $350 for the 7800X3D is probably a little mayo

$400-$450 depending on xchange rate and cashback is about right for now

      • Aliexpress has it for $490 right now (no coupons, very reputable seller)

        • what coupons can be used? i found one for $466 and tempted to get it :) thanks

  • +1

Omg i love these deals (byo gpu)

    • +3

Damn son, we buy full PCs because of the GPUs

  • +7

Can I have the opposite? Byo gpu-less PC and get wholesale pricing on the gpu?

    • Unfortunately not however, there are often lots of great deals on GPUs by themselves on OzBargain and other retailers. I would recommend purchasing from them when there is a price and product suitable for you :).

  • +1

any 7950x3d or 9950x3d offers? or do you plan to have any in the future? Would be keen on that.

    • +1

Very low demand, to my understanding, will definitely get some unhappy people/troll comments on super end rigs like that on OzBargain.

      • no worries thanks for the response

I'd be keen if you also got discounted Intel ones, seems like they are dropping the price now

  • +3

This is pretty good imo. Even tinkering with the options (changing the psu, ram, ssd + adding a secondary ssd) it's good value. One of the things that I'd love to do is make use of one older gpu (2080ti) as a stop gap before fully transitioning to a newer gpu (if/when they ever got cheaper). A byo gpu deal such as this is GREAT. If it's still available in a few weeks I may stop procrastinating (gotta manage budgets too lol) and order one!

  • In this case is it cheaper to buy the pre-built than sourcing yourself. Perhaps buy pre-built and tell them to send the parts so you can build it yourself😅

  • -2

No love for Intel? After an i7 with BYO GPU…

    • Not much love for Intel these days on OzBargain after the recent events, unfortunately.

  • Can anyone smarter than me give me some advice on the 9800 deal here. I've been Frankensteining my system on the cheap for a while now and I'm currently running an i3 and a 4060 would the 9800 be a good deal for me to put the 4060 in and maybe upgrade to a 5070ti or 5080 or even wait for the 60 series? Thanks would appreciate any help

    • +2

Absolutely.. that being said.. the ssd, psu and ram in this build is pretty weak imo..

      • Some of the alternate choices make it worthwhile. The default options are there so you are more mptivated to switch to a better option :P

        • +1

The mark up on those is so bad that you might as well be getting it yourself..

          • @bruhminister: I did some experimenting on other websites custom build sections and found while flicking between the different psu, ssd, ram options Nebula was ususlly cheaper by $100-$300. What went against the other sites was mostly their build + o/s installation fee.

            • +1

@hawktalk: Here's a tip. Nobody should pay for an operating system that is riddled with ads and sells your data. Just look up massgravel on github or buy a $10 retail key from cd key websites.

And my advice would still be to try building yourself. As long as you know how to hold a screwdriver, it's enough to start. If not i think umart charges $100 to build it for you.

              • @bruhminister: I've built pc systems in the past as a hobby and later a form of employment. I've gotten lazy later in life (chalk it up as being over having to do it lol)
                .

Although I'm fine with changing over ram and hard drives/ssds) and have been happy to leave it to others. I've gone both pre-built and custom built route in the past. The pre build system by Centrecom was a disaster (mentioned on here in the past but good cpu, ram and gpu was let down by a cheap psu that blew up lol). The custom build by Scorptec was with my chosen parts and funnily enough a BYO gpu system in itself as the gpu was the first component I picked + purchased weeks before deciding on the system. And also with the near 2 year leap in technology, the custom build by Scorptec was near $800 cheaper than Centrecom's pre-build…… with better parts too.

  • Buy to harvest CPU - swap with current 7800x3D and sell?

I need the 15% extra CPU power for VR.

  • +1

    @Nebula PC how about a bundle, CPU/MB/RAM ?

Not everyone needs a new case/cooler/fans/psu/etc?

    • At this stage it'll need to be a full system build without a GPU, sorry.

  • +1

Forgive the noob question, but the "Introducing the Solara - BYO GPU - Ryzen 7 7800X3D(nebulapc.com.au) - $1098 after OZB_EOFY_$500OFF (select 7800X3D CPU)"
The motherboard has some onboard graphics so I can just use that? I'm needing a reasonably beefy computer for a windows 11 workstation but absolutely no need for gaming at all.

    • +1

Not a noob question. Yes, you can use the integrated graphics from the 7800X3D - won't be an issue.

  • Damn it! I wish this came a week or two earlier. I am now upgrading my PC one component at a time… and I started with the GPU. I wish, I could have gotten this one instead and just sold the old PC.

  • @Nebula PC
Do you have any option of choosing a case which can hold 8 * 3.5 inch disks ? Like Antec p101 ?
This configuration looks plenty for my Home Nails with 6 to 8 SAS disk with add on HBA.

    Solara - BYO GPU - Ryzen 5 7500F

    • Very low demand for those kinds of cases so we don't hold on hand. However, we can do a special order for you if you'd like. We can order in the Antec P101 for you and add the option in the builder.

Please email us at [email protected] and we'll make it happen.

  • Hey ozbargainers is the cheapest one of these worth it for every day office, browsing and music use?

I can add a high capacity hard drive later on for extra storage and a GPU in the future if I want to game.
