Hi, I am planing to upgrade my current PC. I'm looking for performance PC instead of Gaming one. I need something to run VMs, Mutli-OS, few software at the same time. Even sometimes i use it for design and video editing but not for gaming. My Current PC 24GB DDR3, i7, GigaByte MB, HDD (Not SDD). Happy to remove the following from my current PC:

    • Wireless Modem (1 year ago)
    • RAMs (still working!)
    • PSU (purchased 2 years ago)
    • HDD and attach it as a salve to new PC

I wanted to put a PC together myself but prefer to get something ready to use instead of spending time settling up, testing and troubleshooting.
Any recommendation where I can get a decent system with reasonable pricing? I set budget of $1K if that's enough?

    Any recommendation is highly appreciated.
    Cheers,

    • +1

Very unlikely that something from OzBargain will be suitable, as it seems you need more processing capability rather than graphic output. The closest I would recommend would be our 9700X deal here for all-around performance - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/891923.

All systems will need to come working, you are welcome to put whatever might be compatible still from your existing over. We are unable to remove any core components for warranty reasons, we need to warrant the full system. All components are brand new.

      Hope you understand!

      • Great, thanks, i will check it out.

    • +2

Current PCs are on DDR5, so your DDR3 are quite a few generations in terms of specs and compatibility.

Are you getting any issues with your existing set up performance wise for what you need to do? Or just want a new PC for the sake of having a new PC?

      • You are right. i get random shutdown, with different error messages. Hence, i have replaced the PSU, but power shortage scenarios can be related to different parts such as MB, RAM, CPU). Although, the following software gives me some good insights but still very hard to find the exact issue.

        • CrystalDiskInfo
        • HDDScan
        • SeaToolsforWindowsSetup

Event viewer gives this error : The server {B91D5831-B1BD-4608-8198-D72E155020F7} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

a bit unsure what part is causing the issue.

  • How capable if I use these PCs to run LLMs locally, what models can they handle?

    • +8

LLMs are very CUDA core and VRAM-hungry, to my understanding. You'd typically want a high-end NVIDIA GPU to run them locally. Likely, it can handle models like Llama 2 7B, GPT-J 6B, and smaller BLOOM models at an acceptable level.

  • -1

Why do you still do these 8g GPU built ? It’s not particularly cheap either.

  • is there a 5600 alternative for the 5060ti?

    • Not at this stage, only 8400F on the AM5 platform. The 8400F performs similarly to or better than the 5600.

  • The "Other deals" links you have at the bottom of your post have Workstation PCs: 5600G, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD: $468 - but when i go to your website these are $968? Can you still do a 5600G for $468?

    • Yup, please use the discount code on the post. Deal is still live :).

Anyone here willing to provide some advice? I've been out of the game for a while now and in need for an updated PC.
    Currently i'm running a Ryzen 5 2600 Six Core, ROG Crosshair Extreme VI MBO and 32GB DDR4 3200 1600mhz with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB….
Im not a huge gamer but I do play from time to time, CIV VII, MS Flight Sim, battlefield etc.. and running on a 50" screen. Otherwise we use the PC for general internet, email some adobe photo editing software from time to time.

These systems seem like they're reasonably priced, does anyone have any recommendations as to what would run these games comfortably with reasonable graphics.

    Thanks in advance

    • +5

RTX 4060 will be a huge performance increase from the GTX 1060, would definitely be worth considering. However, on a 50" screen I imagine the resolution is high and you might need a bit more grunt. It all comes down to your budget and needs, the systems from this deal is a massive upgrade from your existing however may not be enough if you want smooth 4K gaming.

      • Thanks for the advice! I think I will go down this route!

        • I'd just honestly hunt down a second hand card like Radeon 6800x/GeForce RTX 3080 Super on eBay/Gumtree and replace the graphic card for now, you'll get decent framerates on a large screen.

    • +4

Are you running a x570 chipset? I’d flash the bios (first) and then go hunting for a 5xxx series chip. I got a 5700x3d when they were on the cheap and it was an excellent upgrade from the 3600 i had.

Then (if youre targeting 1080p) a rtx4060 is a decent step up but dont overlook a cheaper AMD 7600 or something either :-) try to get one with a bit more vram for future use

  • Thoughts on one of these for video editing please @Nebula PC? What tweak would be best for video editing performance?

    • Would be fine however I would recommend a CPU with more cores for better productivity performance, if you have the budget for it the 9700X workstation rig here would work great! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/891923

  • the RTX 4060 what games can you play with max settings? 1080p gaming and what will be unplayable at 60FPS?

  • +1

    any 5090 deal?

  • +1

What options are there for a case that supports multiple HDDs (eg, 3 or more, as well as an SSD)?

    • Very limited options unless you opt for a larger case like a Lancool III, likely can fit 3x 2.5" SSDs with standard sized cases however, if 3x 3.5" HDDs it gets tricky.

  • +1

btw the 8400f gets outperformed by the r 5600 in 1080p

  • +1

I’m looking at one of the older deals with the 9070xt with Sapphire Pulse mentioned along with BRAND MAY VARY. Any possibility to confirm if I purchase the build? Keen to also see if there’s an option to have original boxes for the comps when picking up in store?

    • Yes, can confirm the likelihood of the brand once you place your order. All original boxes available can be provided for pick up orders however, not all items come with retail packaging. Please email us to have it organised :).

  • For some reason, the picture for this deal looks like that side eye monkey puppet meme thing…

  • Sound good with 3 year warranty How's about 5090 deal?

  • I wouldn't touch an 8GB card, already suffering in current games and it will only get worse, resale value will be terrible. Unless you're only interested in E sports at 1080p and don't care about resale value. Watch some Gamers Nexus or Hardware Unboxed.

  • thanks for offering something for those with future upgrades in mind!
on that note, what are the maximum GPU lengths supported for the cases Nebula N2, N3 & N5 ?

  • Hry I've got an old pc, given it to my kid.

    It's a 1080ti, with an Intel. I think the i5 6500?

I just bought a new psu corsair. Overkill. 850w. We have a new smallish case with fans LEDs etc.

I'm thinking of getting him a CPU and motherboard.

I'm assuming the ram will work, but can upgrade that later if needed.

Anyway. What is a good CPU and Mobo combo for cheap.

I have a 7800x3d and 4090.im not looking for that.

But I would like it strong enough to run a 4070/5070 or something when I can get that.

    • +1

Likely, your best options would be to purchase from retail for components only. Unfortunately, all our offerings come as a complete full system build.

      • OK appreciate the reply. Thanks. Would the AMD 7600 be suitable? Is the 7600x or 9600x worth it over the regular 7600?

        • It depends on your use case and budget, all are great options.

  • Does the Nebula N5 mATX case upgrade come with the 3 rgb fans have a friend wanting more than 1 rgb fan thanks

    • Yes, 3 RGB fans.

  • Is there an option to upgrade to 32 GB RAM?
