Norton Core - Secure Wi-Fi AC 2600 Router $98 (+ Delivery or Free C&C) Harvey Norman

70

Have no experience with it but looks to be a good price for a fairly well-reviewed router.

Comes with a one-year complimentary subscription to Norton Core Security Plus, which seems to be its key feature, but even without it, will function as a hi-speed wi-fi router.

This is exactly the ignorant, middle aged, upper middle class, bogans I picture shopping at Harvey Norman.

Clueless bad guys with 94 Ethernet ports in their van, only 2 with cables. And a compact cassette deck.

    • So much cringe.

  • Norton will slow down everything XD

  • It was $398 on release in Australia. What's the story?

its been discontinued by Norton due to lack of interest by the public in paying an annual subscription (after the first year) to keep using the thing.

        Wait. What?

For real? no wonder….may consider if it was $25

        • Without the subscription, it will still work as a normal router, and faster, maybe less secure according to Norton

      • Can't find anything on it being discontinued. That price is way cheaper than it's being sold in US and way cheaper than other routers with its performance. I still don't get it. Is it a pricing error?

  • I too am worried about my router being detected by radar

  • What sort of services and features will be missing without paying for the subscription? Hell I will not enable those features even if it's free.

    • What sort of services and features

      Norton behind you.

      • Just had a glimpse into the 47 pages manual in pdf. It forces you to use their app to control and setup the router itself. Cant even setup through a webpage.

Think the plan on getting a AC2600 plain wireless router wont fly

No idea where the 'fairly well reviewed' determination comes from. These guys panned it pretty much across the boardl for security and WiFi performance. Tim knows his stuff for sure:

      The conclusion is very damning.

Core's performance landed it at the bottom of our Router Ranker, I can't even recommend Core as a plain ol' Wi-Fi router

  • "Fairly well reviewed"

I suspect it might be worth taking a look at the sponsorship and advertising arrangements of any outlet that gave this thing a good review.

  • Can you claim "secure" with WPA3 around the corner?

  • Bought one on this deal before i read all the comments here. Spent 4 hours trying to figure out how to set my WD9970 to bridge mode and make the Core connect via PPPoE. Settings on the Core is next to non-existent - you have to pray the auto set up does what it needs to do to work, which many times was just stuck in some loading screen when it failed to complete the step.

Makes me think its not worth the trouble but damn its the nicest looking router I have seen. Looks like a piece of art

  • My nbn was being shit for about three months and optus eventually caved and gave me a credit to buy a new modem, ridiculously good range I've got a double story house and speeds are consistently 90mbps down and 40 up wherever you are inside or outside
