        • how did you go? i bit the bulled and ordered yesterday and showing as shipped today.

          • @tadere: Did you order from domayne with amex cashback?

  • Got mine today :D ordered it on sunday, did pay 5~6bux for faster shipping as i'm going o/s and need it in time for TRS
although they just left it on my front door which anyone could've taken :(

coming from S7, this is bigger surface area wise, but thinner!
thanks to mingofmongo, transferring old phone data was easy via Huawei phone clone, 5gig of old phone data transferred via wifi in 10min
rest of phone set up was all pretty straight forward too.

phone comes with a very basic clear case and a sort of screen protector? good idea as I can start to play with it without waiting for the screen protector and case to arrive from ebay

now to remember all my login and pw info sigh…

    • What the hell! They left a smartphone that cost over $750 outside the door? This is my problem with Amazon deliveries. Lately I send my purchases to a parcelpoint (a pharmacy about 5 minutes drive from my place) because of this reason. But at least with pricey items I thought they needed a signature.

      • You are spot on. Lately all my packages from Amazon have not had anyone ring the doorbell. They simply leave the package out the door and sign themselves.

They use fastway couriers. It's bad

As drivers get commission on how many parcels they deliver. So they simply hurry and rush just drop off asap

        • Mine are always delivered by Australia Post. Suggest getting it delivered to a parcel locker instead as they are free and secure

      • Yeah, it was the same for me when I bought the Bose QC35 off Amazon….they just left it in front of the door. In fact, when I ordered some shoes off Amazon, and I was actually awake at home to receive them, they rang the door bell, and I went straight to the door to see them already walking away! It couldn't have been more than 5 secs! So they literally put the parcel down at the door, rang the door bell and walked off….

Ordered this 3 days ago but haven't received tracking email from Shopback. Does this mean it probably hasn't tracked?

    • Same boat here - No shopback email, Amazon delivery tracking page still says, "Shipping Soon."

This is pathetic fulfillment speed. May be Amazon warehouse is waiting for more stock?

      • Same here. Shipping soon. No progress

I did order without prime membership.

I'm guessing they treat non prime members like dirt not shipping til after a week.

Poor form or deliberate attempt to make you pay for prime

        Unethical

      • if this is the case then there is no stock in Australia.

Domayne are saying huawei doesn't have any stock locally.

    • I used Cashrewards and got the confirmation email shortly after.

      • Hi, I just ordered through Cashrewards and didn't get any confirmation yet. How long it took for you and what was in the confirmation email?

        • +1

Hi, the email came through about 30 mins later. The email contained the expected cashback amount.

          • @tarken: Thanks for the info. I ordered in the morning but didn't get confirmation yet. Hope so will get it soon.

  • No prime membership. Ordered last Sunday.

No progress at all. Anyone else?

    • No, same as you. Stuck at "shipping soon". Received cashback tracking email this morning.

      • Hmm that's no good. So I wonder what's going on?

        • no stock?
ive had that before with a Philips pasta maker deal i tried to order
sat there in 'Shipping Soon' for a week past the date, contacted them and they said 'no stock'

ended up with some amazon credit after a bit of back and forth with a CR

          • @SBOB: i ordered yesterday and it shipped today. maybe back in stock?

          • @SBOB: Yeah I dunno perhaps I should have signed up prime trial and order it

            • @neonlight: no, just standard. also got the email from shopback few minutes after the email from amazon.

              • @tadere: I dunno I live Sydney metro I ordered Sun. Day no signs of deliver at all… No prime

I'm getting worried what's going on with long weekend that means I won't hear anything til Tuesday if at all

                • @neonlight: I've just contacted Amazon, they were pretty vague but assured me they still have stock and it will arrive by the 29th January.

                  • @17833: I see so you managed to call them and confirm it will be shipped. Thanks let's see what happens

                    • @neonlight: yeah, i did contact them on livechat when i ordered to make sure all was ok. the consultant confirmed the ok and that it would be shipped within 12/24 hours. Then got the shipping details the next day and Aus Post email few hours later to say they'd received it. No Prime so delivery next week :(

                      • @tadere: I just checked again it's been posted yesterday.

It won't be here til Tuesday after long weekend.

Seems like if you shop on Amazon you better have prime which they will deliver via courier else just normal auspost.

However when I checked on auspost it says can be left without anyone signing. That's a problem a $700 phone left outside the door.

But then even fastway courier sign the package themselves and drop off anyway so what difference does it make!?

    • I ordered on Sat, not sent untill Tuesday and just arrived yesterday.
      no prime membership

    • Have you tried ringing John Amazon?

  • Cancelled my domayne order because they are out of stock and couldn't confirm ETA.

Ordered from Amazon with prime. Guaranteed delivery on Tuesday.

  • +1

Was on live chat with Amazon. They seem eager to offer a full refund - Even though the tracking page says parcel already dispatched!

That doesn't sound right - Long wait before dispatch, non-existence courier, broken tracking page. Seems a bit deceptive to me… ?

  • Amazon are issuing refunds now. What a joke, wasted a week for nothing.

False advertising by amazon - Not admitting that they have not stock; Fake dispatch notices; Deception in customer communications. I thought they're reputable business… not!

    • crap, really?
      when did you order?

      • 20/1

Hi Mod, how can I change vote to neg?

        • i find the inconsistency strange. i ordered 23/1 and it's with Au Post for delivery. strange that people that ordered before are having their orders cancelled.

          • @tadere: perhaps colour (Black v Twilight)

Perhaps location (e.g Sydney warehouse stock v Melbourne warehouse stock)

            • @SBOB: yeah. i ordered twilight and it seems it's being shipped from Melb.

        • What colour did you order?

I ordered the twilight one this morning and it got shipped out tonight via auspost.
Schedule to arrive on Tuesday (prime membership)

    • +2

Try ordering again with prime. Amazon is now discriminating buyers with no prime.

They process prime purchases much quicker than normal users

I think its a scam itself

The ETA on processing is not clear and delivery date differences is not even accurate.

Poor business practices. They just want you to subscribe. So dodgy. ACCC anyone?

My unit took five days to process. They gave ETA might arrive on 25th Jan to 29th Jan. No updates til 25th so that's entire misleading.

5 days to process is ridiculous

Price gone back to $972.80 lol @ Amazon. you can't reorder

It sounds they ran out of stock got new batch decided to put price up heh

      Mark as expired guys!

      • Mine took 5 days as well, 5 days to process, just because you don't have prime is a joke.

  • Just received mine, quite happy with it. Did take a week to ship. with the no prime late shipping thing, amazon probably just run out of stock on this one. Purchased other stuff without prime, received it within two days, also with shipping estimation says weeks.

    • Na they haven't run out of stock. They just want to lure you in to get prime

    • mine getting delivered today according to AusPost. 3 business day delivery without Prime sounds fair to me.

      • Delivery isn't the issue. Processing is. They didn't process my order until Friday last week. Five business days

        • fair enough. for me it was 3 business days for everything. Order placed on 23/1 delivered 29/1.

  • Looks like price has gone back up everywhere. Any deals around for the Mate 20 pro or P20 pro? Cheers

My phone arrived yesterday but sadly it is already bricked. It did a self update to Android 9.0 and won't turn on or charge anymore…

    • ohhh really? My phone seems to only go up to 8.1.0.158

if you're in Sydney Huawei have a service centre there. Have you tried holding volume up + power button down for a few seconds to see if that will restart it?

      • +1

if you open the hicare app, you can 'request' android v9.0
approves instantly and then when you next check for updates you'll get android 9.0

I got mine last week and first thing i did was regular updates (there were maybe 3), then request v9.0 via hicare, then updated to that

factory reset and ready to go

        • thanks for that. will give it a go tonight.

      • -1

yeah no dice. I'm in melb so i posted it back to amazon and ordered another one with express shipping. Will arrive tomorrow.

so when i first got the phone it updated about 2-3 times to different android 8.1.x builds. They were maybe 500mb each?

Then just as i'm going to bed it pops up saying there's an Android 9 update available and letting me know i could schedule the install (which i did). This download was about 4.3gb from memory.
So sometime overnight i guess it tried to install and failed, bricking itself.

One thing i think might have caused it was because i had a boot up password? Maybe that was triggered whilst i was asleep and the update failed?
It was plugged into the charger at the time so it wouldn't have run out of battery.

      • -1

Ok got my replacement today. Only one update.

Figured out you need to put in a SIM card into slot 1 to get the update. Search again and it'll find the update (assuming you have an Aussie Sim card)

        • i had 3 or 4 incremental updates and the last one was 9. really like the phone now that i've set it up to me personal preference and been using it for a few days. not a fan of the messages app so might change that. same with the keyboard. currently using gboard but will try a few others.

  • How are people finding the battery life? Before 9 it was great 1% overnight discharge now its about 6%

  • P30 just around the corner! Still a great deal nevertheless :P
Also it's now $755.60 and back in stock
