  • That’s great.
Just to find the right connectors and things now !

  • $749 @ SCA and Autobarn.

    • At that price you would be better off with the pioneer with wireless CarPlay and wireless AA at Frankie’s. It comes with a reversing camera too. Sub $500 for the kenwood is about right.
I wonder if Australia gets the wireless kenwoods and JVCs the US has this year?

      • Hi, have you a link to the better unit? Or a model number?

      • By wireless do you mean FM?

I recently bought a Honda HRV the FM was awful - really awful. I feared the sharkfin type antenna may have been the issue.

I looked at the sensitivity and S/N ratio stats for the DMX8018S model and they looked more than presentable.

I now have this model installed and the FM signal is brilliant, better than on the 2011 Corolla we had and that was better than the FM reception on the Pulsar we had before that.

I reckon the JVC technology is already in the latest Kenwoods.

        • no…you don't need to plug in the iphone via USB for CarPlay to work. Ditto wireless AA. It is wifi. Nothing to do with broadcast radio of any kind. You just have to start the head unit and it will start up CarPlay from the phone in your pocket/handbag/backpack.
This kenwood is probably best value of the current kenwood crop. it requires a usb cable for CarPlay though. the next lot of Kenwood and JVC coming out after March will have wireless CarPlay on a stack of models, but no doubt they will cost more.

      • double post ^^^^

  • Because I have a Mazda 3 Bose amplified system I would have to spend about $300 odd dollars on the wiring. I could always bypass the amp I suppose, but that would involve a lot of speaker wiring I would guess.

  • I have a 7704S and with my car (V2 Monaro) wasnt that hard to put in - get some aeropro adaptors so you can still use steerting wheel controls and your set.

  • Im guessing this is 2din. Im looking for an android auto based headunit that uses a single din for an old car which only has single din hole.

Don't want to go down the route of a flip out screen.

Ive currently got a Joying (1din, but 7" screen) but its not really as refined as a name branded head unit like alpine, pioneer or kenwood.

    Any recommendations?

    • Alpine Halo 9 is the only thing that comes to mind, I think it's permanently out (doesn't flip out), and had adjustable tilt.

      • Yeah thats absolutely massive though. Also the rounded corners dont suit my interior (early 60s car)
