Yeah that's the risk with the expensive deluxe cards, often better to just buy the next model up

I got the 2070 and thanks to the $25 Coles gift card and free BF5 it effectively came in at well ubder $600 as i was going to get BF5 anyway.

Like the other guy said this is closing in on 2070 territory. This ain't great value for money. I reckon spend the $100 more for an RTX2070 or if you wait you could probably find an even better deal on the 2070.

Just here to point out AMD exists, with cards that rival the 10603gb and 10606gb respectively for much less (570) and slightly less (580).
Those and the 56 at decent pricing are mid range and, tmk, still in production.
Let us gamer's hope when the 1160(or what ever its called) comes with a better price than these CRAZY prices….
2060 by recent standards is great value.
Yeah I guess, but recent standard pricing has been inflated by crypto mining. Now the air has been let out of that bubble you'd expect the GPUs to start coming back to more realistic pricing levels.
Lack of competition in the high end market has inflated rrp. I don't think pricing will come down unless competition forces them too.
Crypto only effected prices after release. Not the launch prices.
Im hanging out for a GTX version of the 2070. Not holding my breath though

It's comparable to a 1070ti and costs less with the new features. It's actually a far better buy than the rest of the range.
Yep it's definitely the best value mid-range card to buy atm. 1070 or 1070ti, 2060 will outvalue them in terms of cost per frame

Is it a good deal compared to deals? Probably not. But it drops this card down to reasonable pricing (for a 2060)

Maybe but compare the RTX2070. Already it can be found for less than $100 more. Yes it won't be a 'strix' model but performance would still be much better. If it goes on sale for even cheaper then I think that's the much better value.
GTX 760 = 2GB - GTX 960 = 4GB - GTX 1060 = 6GB - GTX 2060 = 6GB … imo it should be 8.
Price is outrageous for a 60 series card.
The performance is on par with a 1070Ti or Vega56 but with 2gb less vram.
Not an issue at 1080p but there are ALOT of lower class cards with more vram and some are cheaper options.
gtx1070, rx 480, rx 580, rx 590, gtx1070Ti, Vega56 - all have 8gb vram
at present many games already using more then 6gb vram at 1080p/1440p ultra (some Incl texture packs) Final fantasy XV, shadow of war, tome raider (DX12) , Kingdom Come Deliverance, Watch Dogs 2, Dues EX MD etc
I just think people should be aware that 6gb on a card with this level of performance isn't going to cut it , esp for those running 1440p.
This of course depends on if you like to crank up textures and AA, the 2060 is definitely capable of doing that, performance wise it's a great card.

The whole reason why this card is expensive is because of the RTX name on it.
Imagine if there was a GTX2060 (aka 1160) that offered 1070Ti performance and priced at the $350-$450 mark like most GTX X60 cards are priced on release.
IMO, you're paying a $150-$200 premium relative to other GTX X60 cards on release, for ray-tracing which has pathetic performance on the 2060.
If it was 8 it'd cannibalise the 2070. The performance difference is about 10% for (generally) a decent price hike.
GTX 760, 960 and 1060 all utilised GDDR5 8Gbps, RTX 2060 utilises GDDR6 16Gbps. In fact, GDDR5 has been used on GPU's since November 2009, on the GT 240, so the new memory being used brings its own benefits and costs. While the latest versions of GTX 1060 do utilise GDDR5X, it appears to make negligible difference.

This is only 55 mhz slower, and the strix cooler is massive overkill on the 2060 anyway from what I've read.

This is RTX2070 territory. Don’t forget Computer Alliance on eBay had the Gigabyte Windforce 2070 for $629 less than a month ago. Sure it will be back at that again soon.
