Looking to Upgrade Audio in My Games/Movie Room

Iv got a pretty small space and am currently using an old philips soundbar. Iv got a budget of roughly $1000. Soundbar or full on receiver and speakers I know nothing about home theatre stuff so thought I’d better ask, I think preferably I’d rather something with a receiver and some rear speakers for when we watch movies if the budget permits.

  • Something like this would be perfect. Just add receiver.

How about you tell us where you are…..

  • Wow they look awesome. My bad,Tassie.

    • Jensen are a good solid make. Have had many variants over a decade or more.

Being in Tassie, your market might be a bit limited. Do you ever visit Melb? Heaps of choice there. Bring a BIG suitcase !

  • The translation of the above is check second-hand on eBay, Gumtree, etc, as there can be good deals to be had from people who are upgrading/moving/whatever.

  • How do people rate the Sony Muteki systems? There are always heaps on Gumtree and I wonder why?

    • Ugly and crap

    • I have 2x Sony GTK-XB5 hooked up to TV for audio and they're brilliant. Deep heavy bass and great sound for movies. Switch off bass button for tv shows and has bluetooth pairing to devices with party chain so they both work together. I can imagine the Muteki would be even better but likely overkill for small rooms.

  • I bought a JBL 5.1 which turns from a soundbar to 5.1 by removing the attached wireless speakers on either side. Works very well for $700-$800

  • What are the dimensions of "pretty small space"?

Is it a fully enclosed space? Or a "nook" type area?
