can't wait for this to end and hope for better offer..

    • +2

Doesn't look all that attractive indeed

    • Was really hoping the next Family Pack would be cheaper with less data.
The killer feature with the Family pack is data management that reduces how much data families need.

      • so many sims on sales recently and people could have stack up for one year…we are in dog damn freaking Ozbargan and this crap with $80 is not freaking good deal

        • +2

Don't hold back apokalypsez -tell us what you really think.

    • Agree… if it was 40g per user it might be worth it for some

  • Imagine the fkg fights over data 😂😭

      Welcome to Family Feud

    • +5

There’s several things you can do with your Family Pack dashboard:
Set data limits - You can set a data limit for each User to control how much data they can use.
You do not have to set limits, but if you don't, a User could consume all the data allowance, leaving the Owner and other Users with no access to data.

      • "each user" that means the 1 "owner" can't have limits set, just something to note

      • Too much admin overhead. Just get a plan on your own

        • It actually makes it easier to manage for a family.
There is a significant admin overhead in searching for and switching providers as well.

    • Already I'm tempted to turn off payment sharing on my Apple family plan. It'd be cheaper for me for everyone to rebut the same movies and apps than to have me buy them for them.

  • is it 4 users or 3…not clear. If 4, then it's basically $20 per user with 10Gigs.

    • +2

      Up to four…

    • +1

You and three family members. Includes 4 SIM cards. Pretty clear to me.

  • +5

Would be more attractive if it was $50 for 4 people. $80 for 4 people ($20 each) is not that great these days in the whole scheme of things when there's cheaper competition like Kogan.

    • +3

Kogan does not provide features like data rollover or unlimited international calls so $20 per person (if shared by 4 ppl) is a fantastic price.

      • This is the standard price, the deal is for the extra 40gb.
Family, implies 2 kids. Most people won't want kids calling international (young adults\adults excepted).
Agree with @bchliu, price needs to come down, less features. Kids are on Kogan get unlimited calls and sms and 3gig per month for around $10 a month when you buy the small plan on special.

WiFi is at the school, grandparents, home, they barely use any data (3%) despite heaps of spotify, facetime and imessage. The kids really don't make many calls.

Not saying this is a bad deal, it is heading in the right direction. More carriers need BUDGET family plans.

        • Fair points.
My assumption was more towards 4 adults (not necessarily from the same family) having high data usage and requiring internationally calls as well. Good plan for international students to share too.

    • A smaller version would be very attractive. $40 for 4 people with a total of 12gb shared a month would be ideal. Especially with data rollover. I'd be fine with a limitation on international calls - perhaps a per-user bolton.

  • +2

Seems typical pricing $20 per user for 10gb a month. Kogan medium can be found for around $200 on sale. ~$16 per person with 13 GB of data. Half that if purchased during the BOGOF sale.
I like the idea, but the price needs to come down before it's classed as a bargain.
Unlike Kogan, unused data rolls over, wish Kogan did that.
Keep in-mind unlike Boost, Aldi only uses the CORE 4g network, not the entire 4g network. Both Aldi and Boost have speeds capped. Not an issue for me, but don't expect the same performance as a Telstra customer.

    • +1

Having used Woolies prepaid (based on Telstra Wholesale), I have got download speeds of around 90Mbps around my local shopping centre. One would have to work really hard to find differences between Telstra's wholesale and retail network in metro areas.

      • Agree, but head to regional areas like Wollongong or even Greater Sydney.
Most people including myself won't care about the speed, but some people with the newer phones do.

        • And you think Kogan will have better reception there?

          • @Nukkels: Yep. Daughter is with Kogan (Vodaphone) and often has reception where Telstra core doesn’t.
Telstra retail (legacy grandfathered pre-paid plan) craps over both.
My observations are all with iPhone 6 headsets (different family members), Optus, Kogan, Woolworths, Aldi and Telstra.

Personally have not tried boost, however their coverage should be the same as Telstra retail.

  • I think Telstra is doing better deal at the moment, $8 for $30 sim kit including 8GB data + 22Gb data bank for first 5 recharges

    https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/prepaid-mobiles/30-…

    • But isnt that just a single SIM?

  • +1

    I wish more telcos had shared data pools though… </rant @ Telstra>

  • +6

    Seriously guys?

Find me a better ongoing deal that provides a Wholesale Telstra connection with 10GB for less than $20 per month?

  • -2

$20 for 10GB a month is terrible, considering a year package prepaid with Kogan is around $25 for 40GB a month.

    • +2

      Is the network irrelevant?

    • I don’t know that they’re comparable. OP’s deal is 4 SIMs with minimum outlay of $80, as the family only needs to pay a month at a time.

For 4 SIMs, on your comparison, they have to take the financial hit all at once. So the minimum cost is 4x$25x12 = $1200.

      • -1

You're right, this deal is completely incredible. Blown away by this amazing offer.

  • We have the much maligned NBN broadband arriving soon (add another $20 a month to what I am currently paying on ADSL) and I am thinking of ditching a home Internet service in favour of getting a mobile family plan like this as none of us our huge data hogs (wife, 8-yo and I). Are there any better deals like this out there and are there any pitfalls/logistical issues to be aware of in ditching my (TPG) home internet for a mobile service?

    • You say that now but one big OS or software update and your mobile allowance is toast. For me, home internet (which is now unlimited on NBN) is just a great way to ensure I'm always backed up with my photos, downloading/streaming whatever I want without fear of extra cost, etc. That being said, I remember back when home internet wasn't so plentiful I would go to the Apple Store to use their (at the time) fast wifi to download updates… </cheap>

I save over $30 a month on this family pack when I migrated my family from various Aldi Value packs. The best thing is the data is SHARED, I can set limits and it rolls over! I am also saving time on plan management.
Obviously YMMV but I have 2 teenagers and this plan has been fantastic

    • +1

Agree!! Perfect plan for our family to consolidate..

No kids on our plan just adults..

  • +1

Great deals for a 4 ppl family.

  • So because I've got 4 kids I'm stuffed? They should make a flat rate to add additional family members.

    • Yes, you're stuffed because you have four kids. Nothing to do with the deal.

  • +1

I'm looking for a family deal myself and I think it is a really good deal.. I don't think there is any better, if you fit into the scenario.

The billing cycle is 30 days, instead of Amaysim/Boost's 28 days.
The data rollover is perpetual so the rollover data does not expire like Boost's.
You could end up having 500gb rolled over data. (but realistically, that won't happen due to all the traffic going to OzB visits)

You are paying $80 for 3/4 people.
    $26/$20 each for
    - Unlimited calls and text
    - Possibly more than 13gb/10gb data (due to rollover that never expires)
    - Oversea calls covered

    What's better than that?

  • -4

That's a crappie deal, fish bait

    • Thanks for your input…

  • -2

I have a wife and 2 kids and will definitely NOT buy this deal.

  • Wish they bring back the $99/year pack, ideal for a family member who only use it for calls only.

  • +1

This looks like a top deal, been meaning to get my 11yr old onto a plan and now I can sped $80 on 4 lines rather than $120…..$40 saving…Awesome

  • Does anyone know how to turn off Message2txt?
