Suggestions on What to Spend Google Play Credit on?

I've accrued about $60 of Google Play credit through the Google Opinion Rewards and I'm not sure what to spend it on.

For some reason I thought I could use it to buy stuff from the Google store but turns out I was wrong.

Any suggestions on what I could spend this on? Any good apps worth dropping coin on or app subscriptions. Would have been nice if I could use it on Netflix but that seems to be a no go too.

  • Do you have an Nvidia Shield? ARC Browser (for retro gaming) is $15, I couldn't bring myself to pay actual money for it but it was worth funny money.

  • Slightly off topic but when's the last time you did a survey? You just made me realise I haven't done one in a while, and so I logged into the app and the last time I did one was 29 June 2018.

    My count: 116 surveys, $39.40.

    • Have you got GPS turned on or switched phones? The surveys ask for recent visited sites and one of my old phones is still getting quizzes.

I get one at least every couple of days.
But I live in the CBD and walk past a lot of shops.

Do you lie on the survey answers to get higher payouts? I think they drop you from surveys if you get caught out too many times.

      • GPS always on. Actually you might be onto something with the switching phones. Although I do have a new one now (since November), I did reset my previous phone around the time of the last survey so it was probably this causing it.

I just opened up the app again on the new phone and immediately got another survey.

All this time I've missed out on surveys!

thanks google.. but clearly they already know everything about me as i havent had one since december

      • How do you find out how many surveys you have done? Isi ti in the app? Edit: NVM in Reward History

    • I receive a minimum of 1 a day.

    • You probably just have to wait for a while - maybe another 6 months or so. I was getting one every couple days from mid 2016 to November 2017 but then none until I started getting them again in November 2018.

  • Depends what you're into OP. TripView is good for public transport, PocketCasts for podcasts. Maybe a calendar app?

Dumb thing asks me twice a week, every week what work I do and what my highest level of education is.. Don't know if they're expecting the answers to change that often.

I spend mine on Google Play movies when a decent one comes out.

    • I swear I get asked about housing, marital status, kids and education at least once a week.

I usually just go with a Google Play Music subscription for a month.

  • my last survey 9 dec 2018.. so sad

I've found in the past, when you go into the app it somehow re-triggers the surveys. Let me know if you get one in the next few days.

I just use it to buy the pro/paid versions of my fav and regularly used apps. At least it supports those developers.

  • Movies are good if you have some you would like to keep and watch forever like Forrest Gump or Shawshank Redemption would be my highlights.

Otherwise there are some high quality games on Android if you look hard enough.

Off the top of my head (as I cannot remember them all now).

Rusted Warfare RTS, Strain Tactics, Kingdom Rush Series, Iron Marines, Pocketfleet (this is free iirc also but the upgrades to get better ships is well worth it), Black Survival (this one is actually free).

I am sure there are a few more other gems I have missed as I actually left the android scene about a year or more ago when I went to focus on PC but having now had a good run on PC for a couple of months I may return to the android scene to see how it fares nowadays..

There was another kind of top down zombie survival crafting game Last Day Survival or something like that but not sure how it progressed or if it turned out any good.

Still waiting for my decent RTS game.

Oh yeah the Battlevoid series is pretty good also. Space Tactical Real Time Strategy but mostly single player or well the campaign is really good imho.

Good luck there are some good gems out there just try to avoid the crap.

/r/AndroidGaming used to be really useful back in 2016 - 2017 but have not been there enough lately to vouch for it now.
