  • Did you buy one? If so how doea the AM radio go picking up stations? The last few ive6 tried I can only get about half the AM band working. Its like they've buggered up the frequencies.

    • Yes. I will report back shortly. Mostly FM for my needs

    • +1

I exoect to see you outside the tab holding on of these to your ear

      • … or on the train; getting your own back beside a young-un, blaring crap on their mobile

Ah 'The oldie at a Footy match' radio if only they knew how to use a computer to see this bargain…

    • Nah, just ads for Harvey Norman on the radio.

I just wished they would not delay the digital audio streams so we don’t have to use old fashioned radios at the footy anymore

      • -1

You don't listen to the digital stream on your phone.

        • +2

Yeah but that's delayed, sometimes by a few minutes.

      • +1

Yep i need to rely on my old ipod to get fm without delay. Eish there was a better solution for live sports!

    • +2

Yeah those stupid oldies not listening on their phones because they delay streaming meaning they can't. Pfft, catch up Grandpa.

  • Is there any way to check in store stock? Would I just call up?

  • +1

Eastland has had plenty at this price for a good week or so, haven't hit up any other nearby Targets in a while though.

  • Also good for loud sporting events that have commentary over the radio (like MotoGP). We bought something similar to this years ago and always bring it along to listen on headphones.

  • +7

Does it have bluetooth and Google Assistance?

    • +4

Is google assistance like roadside assistance?

    • +1

      Hey Siri?

Bought 30 so I could use up my Eneloops. Hopefully it doesn't take 9V because the battery will cost more than the radio. The $30 blue ray DVD players are available at Bondi Junction. They don't work with 160 Eneloops.

    • WHy do you have so many eneloops…

      • +4

WHy don't you have so many eneloops…

This can't be a serious question from you, Broden.

He is asking why haven’t you sold them on eBay or gumtree for profit yet?

        • I struggle to find products in this day and age that take AA or AAA batteries. Everything has batteries built in or takes the heavy duty kind.

    B28?

How’s the quality of the speakers is the bass and treble great? Think these would be good to be used for a house party for dance music on radio station.

    • +2

Oh yeah man, they are easily better than a Bose set up or a Sonos……….

these were a big thing in the early 90ies

    • +1

These were a big thing in the 80s…70s…60s…

  • +2

Ooooooo! It has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

    Take that, Pixel and iPhone!

  • On a side note can anyone recommend something that plays am/fm live (without delay) with bluetooth (for headphones) to take to the footy?

    • I can't find any portable radios with bluetooth so you probably have 2 options:
      * Buy a cheap Android phone with a FM radio built in. (You may still have to plug in a cable into the 3.5 port to act as an antenna)
      * Buy a 3.5mm bluetooth transmitter and plug it into a portable radio, similar to this https://www.amazon.com.au/TaoTronics-Bluetooth-Transmitter-R…

Gonna buy one to listen to the football/cricket on AM. Logging into the CricAust app or AFL app to play the radio stream takes forever plus log-in. 1960s technology tho - one click.

    • +1

Sometimes the old tech is the best

  • Quintessential multi channel analogue audio streaming device. $5, so cheap, why did we go to digital?!

    • Listen to it and you'll find out. You get what you pay for. Even a cheap digital sounds nothing like a more expense one. A $5 analog am radio won't give you much joy.
