  • When I went to sign up it had this at the end:

I apply for membership and one $2.00 share in Australian Central Credit Union Ltd, trading as People's Choice Credit Union (“People’s Choice Credit Union”).
Where I have applied online for:

One or more transaction or savings accounts (but not a loan account), I authorise People’s Choice Credit Union to debit one of the transaction or savings accounts with the subscription price of $2.00 for the member share and I understand that I will not become a member until an initial deposit of at least $2.00 has been made into account from which People’s Choice Credit Union has debited the $2.00 subscription price. I understand that I will receive notification from People’s Choice Credit Union advising the details of the account from which the subscription price has been debited.
Upon becoming a member, I agree to be bound by the rules of People's Choice Credit Union.

    • My brain is a bit heat fried this morning. The account costs $2 to open?

    • OP here, I didn't know about the $2 fee, I didn't sign up because I'm over 25, didn't see it in the T&C's.

  • Ah… too old for this

  • +3

Tried to open an account for my 16 year old and got as far as the identity verification. Apparently passport and medicare are not enough but they don't give any other options when you get to that. It just comes up with a screen saying application cancelled.

    Then I received this:

"It has been noted that you recently opted to verify yourself against the Credit Bureau.

People's Choice Credit Union regrets that we were unable to electronically verify your identity through records held on file by the Dun & Bradstreet Credit Reporting Agency. You may like to try another self verification option.

You can also order a copy of your Dun & Bradstreet credit report to check that the details on your credit file are accurate. Orders may be placed online through: https://www.dnbcreditreport.com.au/my_standard_request/index… or by calling Dun & Bradstreet on 13 23 33 during business hours."

    • LOL. Obviously kids won't be listed in a credit bureau or D&B.

    • +3

Since those below 18 can't enter into contracts and so don't have access to credit, the D&B credit report check will fail for the 13-17 age group who are specifically included in the Activate account offer. That's a brilliant marketing strategy there, Peoples Choice!

    • Yeah it makes no sense. The only remaining verification option is a drivers license. That effectively rules out under 18s

  • Ageist.

  • "The following limits apply:

Each individual person may only receive a maximum of one (1) single payment of $50"

Does that mean this offer isn't for people who received the $50 before?

  • +1

I did not know about the $2 joining fee sorry. I didn't sign up because I am over 25.

  • +1

Easy $50, don't know why people are complaining.

  • Cheers, There site bit crud but free money :D

  • I'm 38 but I identify my self as 15. will i be eligible for this offer?

    • The promo text does say "If you're under 25 or just starting your working life" so you could try to say you are just starting your working life at 38 and argue that but the terms and conditions are pretty clear.

  • "People’s Choice" not sure about that name, it's a bit presumptuous, a bit full of itself, a bit home town American.

  • Got the $15 reward, now waiting for $50. It has been 4 business days since my third transaction.

    • Got the $50 bonus today.
