I want to keep my old ladder. Crappy promo, just give $50 off like a regular sale.

You'll may find it's an effort to weed out old, unsafe ladders found in backyard sheds that are just a danger. Give people an incentive to upgrade to a newer, safer ladder and it makes Gorilla look like the good guys (helps to increase sales, too).

Skeptical? You know those Swap 'N Go LPG cylinders that have been around for a number of years? Same idea. The industry found there were far too many old, out-of-date, unsafe cylinders in circulation, so they formulated a plan to get rid of 'em. In the process, they gave the paying public an illusion of saving money, too. In (very) short order, the number of emergencies attributed to crappy old cylinders dropped noticeably.

      • I found an old crappy LPG Cylinder during Council Cleanup. Went to the Servo and swapped it for a "new" one. No problem.

      • I thought it was to stop old ladders being sold second hand so that more people would end up buying new ones instead. Isn't that why Godfreys used to have a similar thing going with vacs?

I thought it was "buy for $50", not $50 off…

  • But.. the picture they show IS of a home made ladder!

    • Nah, it's a factory job. Pretty sturdy but no locking isn't great.

  • Looks like the promo has been around for awhile. Some info on trade in experience here:

"bring in your old, damaged or broken ladder"…. take in a piece of timber and say it all fell apart apart from this ladder rung
