[NSW] Happy Hour Fuel (9pm - 4am) - E10 $1.059, Unleaded $1.159, Diesel $1.259, U98 $1.259 @ Freedom Fuels, Towradgi

130

Went past servo I used to frequent. Freedom Fuel Towradgi (about 5 minutes north of Wollongong)
Often is the best price of the roughly 10 fuel stations in a small radius.
Using 7/11 lock instead lately (with location hack) .

They have started opening 24 hours instead of closing midnight, and I think as part of promotion and competition with the many servo's in 1 area..

Happy Hour Fuel 9pm-4am

I asked the guys working there, they said happens every night, sometimes 5cents sometimes 10c or even 15cents, price dropped as soon as it hits 9pm.

I compared with cheapest 7/11 Fuel prices across Australia.
Best deal seems to be the deisel and the e10 (both significantly cheaper than 7/11 anywhere in Aus).

They also do a very good coffee/mocha for $1. Better than 7/11 coffee and 7/11 don't have mocha.

I think it would be helpful to have google link (so people can click, and see location and click 'directions')

Personally I don't use E10 - prefer U91 (or U98 if it isn't much more expensive than U91). The Woolworths near you are Fairy Meadow works out marginally cheaper though if using the 4c voucher and discounted eGift cards. Price is 125.9 but after 4c off and 5% from gift card, comes down to 115.8 (so you get a similar price without having to go out in the middle of the night).

As an aside, people often seem to be fixated on 7-11 fuel locks (which I use a lot as well), but with a 4c Woolies voucher and eGift cards, you generally save around 10c/L off the advertised price of U91 fuel, and at the low end of the cycle it usually works out cheaper than 7-11. EG the cheapest 7-11 in Australia for U91 is currently 113.9. Looking at Woolies Caltex in the Sydney area (my area as an example), cheapest is 112.7 at Chester Hill which with the double discount comes to 103.3. I filled up a local Woolies tonight for the end price of 111.6 (don't live near Chester Hill).

Go on, admit you were out for a Fish Nets burger 🍔

    • Towradgi Chicken Shop, accross road from servo; actually has the best chips anywhere IMHO . They have pretty good burgers also, but the chips, actually the best I have ever had.
Fish nets cafe, I don't think I have been there, but my foodie mates that have lived round here 50 years, have mentioned fish nets.

With fishnets cafe, or Towradgi Chicken Chop ?

They do give a very large quantity of great chips (at chicken shop across from servo) . Haven't tried fishnets yet. And mostly buy chips only at towradgi chicken shop, since their chips are sooo good.

    Freedoms e10 fuel is great.

    Its u91 with 10%ethanol added.

This results in about a 94ron/92mon fuel.

This is opposed to places like BP and Caltex, where they start with an 89ulp fuel and bump the ron, ignoring mon. (Shell is also 94, doing it 'right').

E10 also creates. A 3% leaner burn which is well within the error correctable by an ecu.

99% of the horror stories come from the USA where e20 was introduced first.

6% is a lot leaner. The "bad name" then travelled.

Even if you dont feel educated enough to runit often, a single tank of e10 (or even half a one, to make e5) is the best injector cleaner and fuel rail cleaner you'll ever get.

"Cleaner" additives in bottles are 999ml per L hydrocarbons anyway :p

A lot of europe is mandated e5 and doesnt even advertise it (because, non optional).

My mothers Peugeot hated 98, i put my wideband sensor in the pipe; it ran too rich on it.

Switch to freedoms 94ron e10, new car!

    • The amount of ethanol in the E10 is dependent on ethanol market price.
When ethanol is more expensive than the fuel it's not used.
E10 states up to 10% ethanol.
So sometimes you get cheaper E10 fuel but it's just regular unleaded.

Lived in Towradgi for 40 years and always used this place as their prices are usually lower than everyone else as OP said. Never had any issues. I live in Balgownie now but it's worth the trip down there to save a decent amount. Thanks for the post.
