      No argument.

Second. Deluxe is brilliant, the traffic management tools from the Rush Hour expansion are awesome

      • +1

Traffic management in SC4 is woeful. You need NAM mod just to make it functional.
At its core its a very poorly designed game.

Use "LUNAR8" to get 8% off.

I don't think people should stop playing and supporting a good game just because it's old..

They're still waiting for the splines to reticulate.

Thanks OP grabbed it for 🍏

    • I can only see the Mac version, am I too late or doing something wrong?

      • Bad listing? I searched for SimCity4 on Steam, there's only the one listing for both Windows & Mac.

    Good game

  • Awesome thanks. Always wanted to try the series.

Note if you want to get 100x more out of this game, I recommend modding it. Firstly getting NAM because it fixes so many of the bugs Maxis left in, along with additions on controlling the traffic network. There's also Australian modders like Deadwood at created some accurate Aussie retailers. Mattb325 created Emu Plains train station, Eastern Hill Fire Station and Pyrmont Fire Station. Bunnings was created by thesdale. Here's a list of Australian related plugins.

When installing mods (plugins), it's not like installing a mod on Steam. Many of the plugins you install will have other plugins you need to install for it to work properly called dependencies. They're always linked both in a readme file (which has instructions to install) or on the site. You must download these for the plugin to work properly or you will get big brown ugly boxes through your lots. Rarely of those dependencies might have dependencies of their own, so it's good to install everything one by one or you'll get overwhelmed.

Here's a good list of quality plugins.

Went to go buy it then saw I already had it. Good thing I checked. Now when did I buy this?

    • +1

Go here and it will tell you the date you bought or activated each game on your Steam account.

Looks like only for Mac? Updating the title may help a bit

    • +3

Bought it, redeemed key, within Steam it says it's for Windows and Mac.

  • SC4 is on my shortlist for one of my favourite games of all time. I played it so much, added on mods and new buildings galore, and Simtropolis was fantastic to visit back in those golden few years after release. So many good memories. Anyone with an interest in planning, building, simulation should definitely buy, especially at this price.

  • thanks! works for mac

Cities: Skylines is currently 75% off on Steam. $11AU.

That’s the real bargain then. No comparison at this point even with all the mods SC4 is stomped on by Cities Skylines.

      • Can you explain why you think this? I've played thousands of hours in both and still think sc4 is better as the agent system feels more realistic and skylines traffic simulator just doesn't do it for me.

      • Tried Skylines so many times but it's far more inaccessible than SC4.

  • +2

I forgot to mention, the game does not run properly on multicore systems. It will lead to constant crashes. You can download sc4launcher from simtropolis which fixes this as you can limit it to a single core. Also gives the added bonus of widescreen resolution which isn't supported natively in sc4.

    • Grabbed R12 of the SC4Launcher but still cannot get it to work. When launching in Steam, the dialogue box just says "Preparing to launch SimCity 4 Deluxe" and it reopens over and over without actually launching the game. Tried using "-intro:off -w -CustomResolution:enabled -r2560x1440x32 -CPUCount:1 -CPUPriority:high" as the launch option in steam, no go. Tried lowering the resolution, setting it to 1x CPU core, same issue everytime.

FYI I'm running an AMD Ryzen 1700X, 16GB DDR4 and a GTX1070, Win 10 x64, 3x 1440P monitors (not in surround view). Any particular settings I should try in the launcher?

      • Did you try verifying the game contents?

        • Yep!

          • @Russticles: Try running it in compatibility mode

            • @Broden: Tried that already, win xp/vista/7 comparability modes change nothing

              • @Russticles: Did you go into the steam apps folder and do it to the exe file?

                • @Broden: Correct, with and without the launch options in the steam client

                  • @Russticles: Not sure then. I'm running it on a much simpler machine with Windows 7. I would assume Windows 10 is the issue but it could also be a hardware problem. There's a tutorial here to get your hardware supported that works for some people, but I never had any issues with it.

  • As much as I love deals, I'm kind of getting a little weary of having to sign up for yet another website. It just feels like too much hassle.
