Great find, excellent shoes, good for those looking for something slightly broader.

Agreed, I wear the Moab 2 Gore-tex ones as my daily, very supportive and super comfy.

      Also I like telling people it's Gore-Tex.

      • hahahahhaa

      • How long have you had them? Want to know about the durability :)

I bought my current pair from the UK in 2016 (ebay) for $154 with promo codes - it's also travelled to hikes in Hong Kong, all around Europe and Japan/South Korea. This is a great deal for this price.

Previous one was the Merrell Mens Intercept Moth Brown, only lasted 2 years and it started to wear out and a couple of small holes in the rubber at the front… didn't moth ball it. Still use it around the garden.

        • +1

Here you go, took a quick shot. The Moth has become a slip on, my sole couldn't let it go. The Moab has kept its structural integrity. The laces will stretch etc, so you'll probably change those over time. Minor issues with the sitching coming off but nothing major.

@thushan: Hey thats awesome, I am more relieved now. I was really worried about the quality. Because I had a merrell pine something, went around 4 hikes (Have to say the last hike, was a bit of a rough one :) ) and then some of the grips from the sole started coming off. It was not the Vibram sole though, the m-select-grip. I managed to get a store-credit though as it was deemed as faulty. I still need to find a way to use my store credit now, as I bought this shoes too as for $50 is too cheap.

        • How waterproof are these tbh?

          • @CVonC: Like any shoe with a waterproof membrane, they stay dry until the rain or puddle comes in through the top, around your foot.

They might be useful when walking through wet grass :-)

          • @CVonC: Text says so, however the pictures are of the non-waterproof ones. So who knows…

  • I suppose we can't use Shipster?

  • Need to have Club Catch to access this deal.

    • Updated the title, its $8.95 shipping if you don't have club catch

      • Please, no referral links ANYWHERE.

          Apologies!

      • $11.00 for me

    • 1 month membership fee is cheaper than the shipping cost.

EDIT: Minimum 3 months … sorry.

Yeah, I don't like the way they do business. I tried to buy a pair and couldn't figure out how it got to $61? They automatically added the club catch membership to the bill. And the only option I could choose for shipping was express shipping $4.95. Took me a while to figure it out, and the real shipping cost is $11.00 without the express rate tacked on. I hate shifty business like that.

    • I know…What I hate is their Club Catch deals, make it seems like its really cheap. And I have fallen for this trap once, bought a jacket for $40. Then two weeks later while browsing it was $30. I noticed it happened for a few items.

      • Thanks for posting the deal though. I've gone ahead. It's the price of going budget, like tiger airways :) And $60 is still a good buy.

    • indeed, that is why I refuse to shop at the catch. Will strongly recommend the amazon prime , worthy every cent

Great find ian1095, thanks, bought a pair

  • Cracking deal.

Finally a use of the club catch membership that I won in one of those trivia contests they run.

    Cheers op!

  • These are great shoes - this price is a steal

  • Merrells are really comfortable but man the soles wear fast. My cheap as NB are killing them for mileage.

    • +1

I'm surprised to hear that - my wife bought these several years ago to walk the Camino de Santiago (about 900km). That was 5 years ago and she still wears them regularly. The soles are getting thin now, but there would be at least 1500km on those shoes.

    • I would disagree with that assuming you are talking about those with the Vibram soles. I have worn various models of mine all over the world and Australia and the soles are very long lasting. Even when in "retirement" after aging and getting a bit tatty I walk a daily walk of 5-7km at least 5 days in every week and they last ages. Most other premium brands I tried wear out really fast comparatively.

  • Thanks OP. Bought a pair. US Size 9. The sizing on Catch always confounds me. For other brands I have bought on Catch US Size 9 equates to:

    Asics - 27cms, Euro 42.5
    Skechers - 27cms, Euro 42, UK 8
    Now Merrell - 27 cms. Euro 43, UK 8.5.
I am going by cms which is constant and hope they fit :):)

Wow. This deal really … blew up.

I grow tired of women chatting me up all the time

Hopefully this will help as a repellent

  • Can anyone comment on the width of these. I usually buy the 2E in 10.5 with New Balance, but can't see that there is an option for the Moab 2 Vents.

    • +1

I went into a Merrell store and tried the normal width on but they were too tight. I'm between 2E to 4E. Was told by the store assistant that Australian stores do not carry the wide fit option.

      • Cheers. I normally do run from normal to 2E, just depends on the brand. Might give them a miss then.

        • +1

Firstly Merrell DO sell MOAB 2 wide fit in Australia. I bought a pair myself just a few months ago directly from them online.

Secondly the MOAB wide fits are the widest outdoor hiking shoes I've tried - particularly in the forefoot area. The normal width is still pretty wide compared to other brands, about on par with Keen which is regarded as a wide fit shoe.

And Merrell stand behind their product regardless of where you purchase them from. I bought a pair of MOABs in US and a few months later had a problem with the front toe cap. Merrell Australia replaced them free of charge after an exchange of emails and photos despite the fact I bought them o/s.

  • Great deal, got a pair, thank you!

We know shopping online for shoes and clothes is challenging because you can't try them on prior to purchase. That's why at Catch we're happy to take back anything that doesn't fit properly*** and offer you a replacement if stock is available or store credit, albeit with some conditions (see below).

Please follow the steps below to lodge a return:
1.Sign-in to Catch and go to "My Account"
2.Click on "My Orders" to see your purchase history
3.Find the relevant order number and click on the "Request Return" button
4.Fill in the returns form and click "Submit Request"

Please allow up to 48 hours for us to review your claim and respond.

***Please note that if a product has been correctly sent to you, as per your order, a return under these circumstances would fall under our change of mind policy

    Hmm, those three ***…

    • Meaning you have to pay for return postage, they only refund you the product price (minus shipping fees), and in store credit. Happens to me before, bought shoe that doesn’t fit properly.

      • Seems no refund.

We cannot refund or exchange goods for change of mind or errors you made in your order. We may however, at our sole discretion, allow a return for store credit or exchange product on a case-by-case basis.

        • It depends, I bought a crumpler bag that wasn't the correct model, filed for a return without using it and was approved straight away.

      • +1

If you pay with paypal and have activated the free return service then it's free postage. I have used it before with catch of the day without any issues.

    Thanks!!!

As for sizing, I order 1/2 a size bigger than Keen since the toes pinch a little.

  • +2

The only concern is that sometimes CoD have faked stuffs.

    • That’s my worry too. And I suspect a lot of reports of quick-wearing soles are due to the Merrell counterfeits going round.

      • Just received my order. They look genuine from the quality and also from box..etc as I had another pair of Merrell before. Either it's a really good counterfeit or its legit.

  • Thank info, my old shoe time to replace, order one, I checked current shoe size that bigger than my normal size, I think Merrell is slightly small fits feeling, So I recommend buy 1/2 size bigger.

  • Anyone have advice if they are suitable for trail running? I'll assume not, but in the market for some new trail runners.

    • They aren't very light when I was holding them, so I won't recommended for running!

    • I have these shoes for hiking, very chunky, too heavy for trail running. Merrell website says the mens is 888g (no weight listed for the womens but mine certainly feel heavy)

  • The sizing is different compared to what is on Merrell website. Catch is US 8.5 while if I go to Merrell, it should be 8. Any pointers? Thanks

  • $10 shipping

  • +1

I'm getting $6.95 shipping so I guess it depends on your location. Either way a good deal on good hiking shoes!

  • Why is it $49 and not $49.99, but shipping is $8.95? A dollar goes a long way. Nevertheless its a good deal thanks!

  • Grabbed a pair, let's hope that half a size too big won't be too noticeable. Any deals on thick socks?

  • I hope to pick up some of the ladies at the retirement village with a pair of these

Purchased the Merrell Mens MOAB 2 Ventilator - Earth in Size US13.
According to their sizes I should be a US12 (measured in CM), but I chose the US13 (what I usually am for casual shoes) just in case…

    Used your referral link!

    Thanks OP!

  • I'm in Brisbane and bought the womens 8 and 8.5 as I wasn't sure which would be the better fit. If anyone also in Brisbane is interested in the non-fitting size let me know, happy to pass them on at cost + half the shipping ($55, shipping was $10 for 2 pairs)

  • Just received the shoes. Good fit and super fast shipping!
